252: Seven Deadly Sinners Season 3 Trailer!

Hey Friends! I'll be back with an update on Be Here for a While soon! But in the meantime if you're looking for content, head on over to my other podcast Seven Deadly Sinners https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/seven-deadly-sinners/id1515042150 Season 3: Comedian George Carlin once said “may the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house.” But what if that evils starts within your most trusted organization, your home...your own family. In Season 3 we are covering some of the most wicked and corrupt cases yet, cases so far reaching that they involve some of the wealthiest and highest levels of society committing the most evil of crimes. These perpetrators are so desperate to keep their sins under wraps, they’ve created a cover up they’ll kill for.   Think about it, when religion becomes organized crime you’ve got a group so sinister that the devil is applying for membership. But we are also covering cases that start within the home, small fish with a huge impact. You don’t have to be in power to be powerful....Hey you only need a few people to believe in you to destroy generations of lives.  Hell you only need your family to believe in you. In Season 3 of Seven Deadly Sinners host Rachael O'Brien will be covering cases so dark, so corrupt, that she's honestly a little bit scared.   Make sure not to miss this wild ride by subscribing to Seven Deadly Sinners on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you like to listen! Now, let's close out eyes, bow our heads and buckle up. 233: The Disappearance of Rebecca Modrall

Rachael is joined by Reyna and Marie of the "Those Murder Girls Podcast" to discuss a case that hits close to home. On February 5, 2019, 33-year-old Rebecca Modrall drove to one of the houses her boyfriend, Joe Coker, owned in La Quinta, California. Joe had called her and asked her to come over so he could cook her dinner. Rebecca was seen on camera entering the gated community where Joe lived and her truck was later seen exiting with two people driving it, none of which were Rebecca. That was the last sighting of Rebecca Modrall. Rebecca had plans to meet up with a friend after visiting Joe, but she never made it. Her friend sent her numerous text messages and called her phone, but the messages went unread and the calls unreturned. Rebecca’s family believes they know what happened to her but they wonder if money and political influence have gotten in the way of solving her case.  If you have any information about the disappearance of Rebecca Modrall, you are asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office at 951-955-2450. Her podcast "Last Day" started as a journey to discover "what happened, and what could we have done differently" in the tragic loss of her brother to a heroin overdose.  She's a brilliant comedic mind in her own right, one tough cookie, an author, and a guiding light of how one can find purpose and love in the most tragic of life circumstances.  Staying in shape just got easier w Sports Research Sweet Sweat and Waist Trimmer And if you go to www.sportsresearch.com and use the code BEHERE at checkout RIGHT NOW, you’ll get 20% off your order!! 205: What Is Your Secret? w/ Dani Shapiro

Secrets involve a level of shame and a need to protect something or someone or yourself but they rarely, if ever, go unknown.  The truth almost always comes out and while it might be scary, knowing the truth, that truth no matter how painful, is your true jumping off point for healing, self discovery, and power. My guest today is Dani Shapiro an author who has written 10 books and the host of the incredibly popular podcast Family Secrets. On each episode of FAMILY SECRETS, Dani and her guest explore astonishing family secrets and uncover the extraordinary lessons the truth can teach us. The show strikes a chord with a wide audience because we all have family secrets, and while discovering them can initially be terrifying or traumatic, it also has the power to liberate, heal and even uplift us. Dani’s own story, involves a family secret that she discovered in her 50s.  It was finding out that everything you believed about yourself is a lie. In the spring of 2016, Dani took a DNA test on a whim — and the results turned her life upside down. The man who raised her was not her biological father, and the story she had been told, about who she was and where she came from, simply hadn’t been true. Her memoir about the experience, Inheritance, is a book about secrets that touches upon themes of identity and family history, and the science and technology that have outpaced not only medical ethics but also the capacities of the human heart to contend with the consequences of what we discover. 197: The Worst Reality Show You've Never Heard Of

This is the first episode of an ongoing series Rachael is doing called "Reality Show Scandals and Tragedies" and there's no better way to start than with a show that was canceled after 5 episodes but is so painfully condescending to the women in it, that it should have never made it to air.  The show was called "8 Minutes" on A & E and features Pastor Kevin's attempt to save women from the streets.  However, his attempt often goes no further than just giving them the national hotline for sex trafficking even after they bared their souls on TV and were promised "resources" from Pastor Kevin and the network to help them.  Greg Hunter is here to help Rachael dissect the absurdity of this show and shine light on the fact that these women deserved so much more.  Much of the research came from these two articles: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/arianelange/8-minutes-trafficking-victim-adviser-says-producers-ignored by Ariane Lange https://reason.com/2015/05/06/ae-pulls-8-minutes-sex-work-show/ by Elizabeth Nolan Brown ThirdLove knows there’s a perfect bra for everyone, so right now they are offering my listeners 15% off your first order! 195: Deep Dive: The Perverse World of Jeffrey Epstein w Diana Espir

To quote a recent Vanity Fair article about Epstein. 'Epstein liked having secrets and enjoyed the way those secrets kept people off-balance. “He always wanted to give the impression that he was an international man of mystery—‘I control everyone and everything, I collect people, I own people, I can damage people,’ ” says an ex-girlfriend.'  But that's just the tip of the iceberg.  Epstein was the mastermind behind a sex-trafficking ring of underage girls that crossed state and country lines and included a web of powerful people including a member of the royal family, politicians, professors etc. who either participated or simply turned a blind eye.  One of them being is longtime girlfriend/friend Ghislaine Maxwell, who young women have alleged that Ghislaine was both part of the sex-trafficking ring, bringing underage girls to Epstein, and a sexual participant.  The victims are survivors and they deserve their story told so please listen and also do your own research and talk to your friends and family about this important issue. #epstein #epsteincoverup #victimsmatter If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault, reach out for help.  In the US, you can contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline by calling 1-800-656-HOPE. 194: Conspiracy Theories & More w Chelsey Weber-Smith!

Chelsey Weber-Smith is the host of Rachael's new favorite podcast, American Hystertia.  It might be safe to call this podcast a new obsession for Rachael, as she binge listened to the entire catalog of episodes in less than a week.  American Hysteria is a podcast that explores the moral panics, conspiracy theories, and fantastical thinking of American culture from the puritans to the present. Chelsey uses history, sociology, psychology, and even biology to try to get at the heart of why we fear the wrong things and how the long history of these fears inform our current politics and culture. On the show, Chelsey examines in detail the lost oddities of America history, how race, gender, class, and sexuality have molded our beliefs, and how these themes have been continuously expressed and spread through pop culture and the media. From the Satanic Panic of the 1980s, the conspiracies around the Gay Agenda and the Illuminati, to our obsession with Stranger Danger and Poison Halloween, and much more. Chelsey also looked at our long term beliefs in Mind Control, Quackery, and the ability to Talk to the Dead, as well as the Toy Riots that rocked the nation when Beanie Babies and Tickle Me Elmo caused brawls in the street.  Let's get in our best shape ever in 2020 with Future! 165: Sex Talk With My Mom Hosts Are Here!

Like all good comedies, Sex Talk With My Mom was born out of tragedy. In 2006, KarenLee and Cam lost their husband and father to murder. Her channel quickly became a haven for bawdy, no-holds-barred conversations. As a comedian, Cam sought refuge from the awkwardness by using her material in his stand-up. Eventually they united efforts and created the best (and only) sex podcast hosted by a mom and son.   KarenLee and Cam are here and they are chatting all things sex, comedy, dating, relationships, and how their tragic story brought them closer together. 127: Modeling, Acting, Addiction & Recovery w/ Jennifer Gimenez

Jennifer Gimenez joins Rachael today to talk about her EPIC life and career.  Jennifer was discovered on the Santa Monica Pier by legendary photographer Bruce Weber at the age of 13.  Her modeling career blew up and she was soon walking the runways of Paris and was the it girl for the famous designer Alaia.  She was the youngest person to ever appear on the cover of Elle Magazine and starred in a documentary that was nominated for an Academy Award.  She then turned to acting where she read with legends like Robert De Niro, competed for roles with Penelope Cruz and eventually had roles in movies like Blow w/ Johnny Depp, Vanilla Sky w/ Tom Cruise and many more.  Throughout all of this though, she silently struggled with addiction, attempting to get sober several times.  She finally had success at the facility where she met Dr. Drew which would ultimately be another turn in her career.  She starred in both Sober House and Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew and has celebrated almost 15 years of sobriety.  She's an inspiration about how you can be on top, hit rock bottom, and pull yourself out and have the life you always dreamed of. **For amazing holiday gifts at incredible prices download the free Poshmark app and enter the invite code: BEHERE for $5 off your first purchase!

85: When that leap of faith actually pays off w/ Comedian Chris Newberg

Chris Newberg moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a comedian. He vowed to focus ONLY on comedy, turning down any job that didn't contribute to his career, and subsequently quickly learning the true meaning of "the struggle is real".
