S15 Ep8: The Good Glow - Hannah Saunders

Looking on at Hannah Saunders, everything seemed so perfect. She is Founder and Director of Hannah Saunders PR. Still in her early 30s, she has built her brand off the back of hard work, commitment and an impeccable eye for detail. Recently, Hannah took the bravest step one could take by speaking out and telling the world that as a child she was sexually abused. When I think of Hannah I think of the words' strength, resilience, kindness, openness, generosity, she is turning her pain into her power and is saving lives by telling her story. I am deeply honoured to speak to Hannah today and while the unimaginable happened to her, today is about her rising. S15 Ep5: The Good Glow - Mark Mehigan

Mark Mehigan’s book This Is Not A Self Help Book begins ‘My name is Mark and I am an alcoholic. You could probably also call me a drug addict.’ When I read that first line I knew this would be one of the most honest book I’d ever read and from that moment I couldn’t put it down.  Today, I speak to Mark about his decision to share everything with the world, the good, the bad and the ugly. After spending much of his 20s addicted to alcohol and drugs, Mark found a way to turn his life around and he has never looked back.  Order Mark’s book.  Thank you to Yoplait Skyr for supporting The Good Glow this season. After hitting rock bottom, he rebuilt his life and now owns 3 businesses in Maui. However, on August 8th last year, the world watched on as a wildfire in Hawaii burned his house down along with everything he owned. To make matters worse, Peter wasn't in Hawaii at the time and had to watch on TV from an airport. Today Peter tells me of the unimaginable journey he and his community has been on since then and how he is rebuilding his life. Be Well With Becca's world has completely changed over the past 2 years. She moved to Chicago in 2012 and has worked in digital marketing for the past decade. In March 2021, she was signed off work due to burn out and stress. It felt like it was all falling apart for Becca, but maybe it was all falling into place. She ended up taking 8 months leave in total but during that time her fiance left the home they shared. She was devastated. Heartbroken and on her hands and knees, she hit her rock bottom and today she shares her story. I hope you love this episode. S10 Ep6: The Good Glow with Dr Libby Weaver

She is hugely successful and is often referred to as a 'woman whisperer'. On this podcast she explains why we should care more about ourselves, how we can quieten down that inner voice that is tearing us down, that voice that's terrible for our self confidence, telling us we are not doing enough, we are not good enough. I was stressed for 12 years before I got sick, I pushed myself day in day out, until everything fell apart. I heard Gerry Hussey say before 'if we don't make time for our health someday we will be forced to make time for our illness' that is exactly what happened to me. I hope as you listen to this podcast with Dr. Libby that you will realise that you are precious and you deserve the best.  This podcast is brought to you with thanks to Vichy. S9 Ep12: The Good Glow with Dan Buettner

My guest this week is Dan Buettner. He’s a New York Times best-selling author and founder of The Blue Zones. Dan discovered the five places in the world, called blue zones hotspots, where people live the longest, healthiest lives. They are the Barbagia region of Sardinia, Ikaria in Greece, the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica, Loma Linda in California and Okinawa, Japan. Over a number of years, Dan teamed up with National Geographic to go to these ‘blue zones’ and study their people. What were they doing differently? How do they live? And what’s their secret? Dan found 9 common lifestyle habits in these regions, which he called the Power 9. Today, Dan takes me through their rituals (some may surprise you) and tells us how we can adapt this 'blue zone lifestyle' in our own homes.  Dan’s books:  The Blue Zones Kitchen The Blue Zones of Happiness The Blue Zones Solution

S7 Ep9: The Good Glow with Michaela O'Shaughnessy (Life of a Lady Bear)

I'm so excited to speak to Michaela O'Shaughnessy this week. You may know her as Life Of A Lady Bear on Instagram. Michaela is from Galway and moved to New York 6 years ago.  A real Irish success story, Michaela has worked for MTV. Teen Vogue, Glamour and now Instagram.  I really wanted to do a podcast this week that reflected how Irish people abroad may be feeling right now, missing home and unsure what lies ahead for Christmas.  It's been a long year for us all, but everyday I have felt so lucky to have my family just around the corner.  I get messages every week from Irish people living abroad who listen to my podcast - in Australia, Dubai, Canada and the US and i know many of them miss home so much.  I wanted to do something this week to let them know that I hope they are not too lonely and manage to get home this festive season.  Michaela has a fascinating life. She lives on the Upper East Side of New York, she speaks about fellow Irish woman Samantha Barry who hired her and was so supportive.  We speak about the madness of this year, how it made her love New York even more and her advice to people who have a dream.  This podcast is brought to you in partnership with Spotlight Oral Care. Holly Ryan and I have gotten to know each other over the past year. She shared her story with me and feels ready to now share it further.  When she was 18, Holly was attacked as she made her way home. Today she takes me through the impact that night had on her life, how hard it was to share her story and how she healed.  I'm so grateful to Holly for sharing her story today, I know it wasn't easy for her but she wants to use her voice to educate people.  In the last couple of weeks a plan has been published by the government for supporting victim’s journeys through the reporting of sexual offence cases.
