On May 12, 1846, a wagon train set out toward the West Coast of North America. Lead by George Donner and James F. Reed, these settlers were determined to make their fortune in the wild unclaimed frontier of California. However, the trail they were following was fatally flawed, and a series of mishaps and poor decisions put them far behind schedule, and risked them getting trapped by a bitter winter.
