From navigating the education system to breaking free from the "rat race," Paul shares powerful insights on leadership, personal transformation, and being true to yourself. Breaking Free from Social Norms: Paul offers practical advice for those who felt out of place in their youth but didn’t understand why. He discusses how small steps can lead to breaking free from societal moulds and reconnecting with authenticity. The Tyranny of the Education System: Paul critiques the one-size-fits-all model of Western education, highlighting teacher burnout and the system’s archaic structure. He believes bold, new ideas are needed to educate and inspire future generations. Listening to Your Intuition: Paul shares how we can start paying attention to our intuition or “niggles” and why journaling is a powerful tool to capture these insights, helping us recognize patterns in our thoughts and feelings. Leadership and Influence: In Paul’s view, leadership is about influence, not authority. He challenges the traditional command-and-obey structure and encourages everyone to see themselves as potential leaders, shaping the world through influence rather than hierarchy. — This episode was made possible by our friends at East Healing. *The Courage To Create* Origins Story - Caggie's Journey with Music

In this episode, Caggie opens up about her deep and complex relationship with music, tracing it back to her early years and sharing the emotional journey she's experienced along the way. Key Themes: Caggie's Relationship with Music from a Young Age: From her earliest memories, music has played a pivotal role in Caggie’s life. However, as she grew older, her connection to music became both a source of joy and vulnerability. Vulnerability in Sharing Music: Caggie discusses how sharing her music has always made her feel exposed, as it’s a form of self-expression that brings up intense vulnerability. Fears Around Singing: Despite her love for music, Caggie reflects on the fears she’s carried around singing, particularly in front of others. These fears have often held her back from fully stepping into her creative potential. Love-Hate Relationship with Music: While music has been a lifelong passion, Caggie dives into the complexities of her love-hate relationship with it. There have been moments where the pressure to perform and succeed overshadowed her natural love for the art. Pressure, Fears, and Failures: The pressures that come with creativity often bring fears of failure. Caggie shares how these feelings have surfaced throughout her career, particularly during her time on Made in Chelsea (MIC). Creativity – Why All or Nothing? Caggie explores the idea of why creativity sometimes feels like an all-or-nothing pursuit. She questions when creativity shifted from being a joyful expression to something to be criticised or scrutinised. Creative Blockers: A significant part of Caggie’s journey has been dealing with creative blockers. She reflects on the fear of how her music will be received and the external judgment that has haunted her, especially the notion that she’ll never be taken seriously because of her background in reality TV. Where Does the Fear Come From? Caggie contemplates the root of her fear. Is it simply fear of the unknown? Is it tied to ego and self-belief? These are the big questions she grapples with as an artist. Ego and Self-Belief: How does ego get in the way of true creativity? Caggie shares her thoughts on how ego can sometimes overshadow creative expression and how developing a strong sense of self-belief is key to overcoming this. Creativity as an Offering: A powerful idea Caggie shares is that creativity is not something we control, but rather an offering. It chooses the artist to come through, and it’s up to us to honour that process. Discovering Herself in Her 20s: Throughout her 20s, Caggie navigated the journey of discovering who she is, both as a person and an artist. This period of her life was marked by experimentation with different styles of music and self-expression. — Stay tuned every Friday for new episodes of The Courage To Create. 8.11 Business, Friendship and Healthy Living with Steph Claire Smith

Today I am delighted to be joined by Steph Claire Smith. Steph is an Australian model, entrepreneur and was one of the original Aussie influencers who I have followed from the very beginning. She has gained popularity through her lifestyle, fitness and wellness content. Steph’s influence extends far beyond the world of modelling, as she uses her platform to discuss issues surrounding mental health, self-care, and how to make healthy lifestyle choices. Steph first met her best friend, Laura Henshaw, when she was just nineteen before moving to New York where she began modelling and documenting her life on social media. It was when Steph came back to her hometown of Melbourne that she reconnected with Laura and their journey into entrepreneurship truly began. Steph reflects on that period of navigating her way through her young adult life, away from her family and friends. She shares the obstacles she encountered during her modelling career and the impact this had on her own self esteem. Steph was simultaneously building an online career and modelling portfolio which placed her under the spotlight of intense scrutiny, judgement and pressures from external influences. We discuss how Steph managed to overcome that self-doubt and stop herself from falling into ‘the comparison trap’. We also discuss the ‘Creator Economy’ and how she was able to organically build her brand alongside her best friend and business partner to continue to feed their new and existing online community. We journey through the lessons she learnt building her first business and how she’s managed to make a success out of her relationship with Laura and her love of health and fitness. Whilst our Saturn Return can be an explosive and uncomfortable period, Saturn can also help us to solidify the things that have been in motion in our lives for a while. At 29, Steph is now a Mother to a highly successful business and to Harvey, her first Son, who she shares with her husband. We discuss the gender roles in their household and how they came to the decision that her husband would be a stay-at-home father.  Redeem a one-month free subscription to Kic, live until the end of the year! 8.10 Cultivating Compassion: Reclaiming Self Love with Alex Light

This week I’m delighted to be joined by Alex Light, a body confidence advocate, journalist, chart-topping podcast host and founder of Light LDN. Alex started her career in magazine journalism where she wrote about celebrities, fashion and beauty. Her Instagram was a space for her to share her love for these topics but whilst it appeared she was #livingherbestlife, Alex was actually battling an eating disorder. Now, she has successfully created a platform that encourages body positivity and champions women’s unfiltered bodies. At 26, Alex began using her social platform to document her recovery and was astounded at the amount of people who resonated with her story. We discuss the relationship Alex has with her body and the steps she took to mend and cultivate what was one of the biggest tormentors in her life. Alex is on a mission to expose unrealistic beauty standards and diet culture to help others combat their own feelings of shame and self-loathing.  Alex deconstructs some of the messaging that has permeated into our collective psyche from being a young woman and how diet culture is a tool of the patriarchy. She shares the importance of recognising and detangling those beliefs whilst also encouraging us to commit to refraining from commenting on people's looks, regardless of the intention.  Saturn can bring change and awakening in mind, body and soul. Alex discusses how this contentment came with age, coinciding with her Saturn Return. Alex also shares how she transformed her internal critic into self-compassion in order to reach that space of contentment within herself. She takes us on her own path of healing whilst delving deep into the emotions that have come up for her during this time of self-reflection.  --- Subscribe to "Saturn Returns" for future episodes, where we explore the transformative impact of Saturn's return with inspiring guests and thought-provoking discussions. 8.9 Prioritising Rest for Better Health with Poppy Jamie

The lessons we learn during our Saturn Return can be extremely challenging, deeply personal and hard hitting. But ultimately, they’re there to teach us how to live our most authentic and fulfilled lives. In today’s episode, I delve into the inspiring journey of Poppy Jamie, a recognized Forbes’ 30 under 30 luminary, UN Global Goals advocate, British wellness entrepreneur, TV host, and best-selling author on a mission to empower mental wellbeing. At 25, Poppy was running three businesses, splitting her time between New York and LA, as well as keeping up with friends, family and socialising. But by 29 she was hospitalised with chronic fatigue and was forced to slam on the brakes. Poppy takes us through her quest to decondition her attitudes towards her own working habits. From addressing the guilt she faced if she felt she hadn’t done enough, our need for perfectionism, to observing the ways in which stress and exhaustion was manifesting in her own body. Deconditioning created space for flexible thinking and new and healthier ways of living her life. She talks about how movement such as walking and dancing has been essential for good mental health and how she now prioritises rest above all else. A concept which may seem quite alien to most of us but something I think we can all relate to needing more of. She discusses the global impact of her mental wellbeing app, Happy Not Perfect, and her latest role as co-founder of a stealth start-up. Poppy also opens up about the power of female friendships, her personal and professional growth, the challenges of life in Los Angeles, and her battle with orthorexia. Sharing Saturnian lessons learned while launching three businesses, she touches on the cultural attitudes towards therapy in the UK and US, the struggle for identity in entrepreneurship, and the vital shift from overworking to the art of unwinding. Lastly, Poppy reflects on the importance of spiritual practice and embracing vulnerability with a good dose of humour. --- Follow or subscribe to "Saturn Returns" for future episodes, where we explore the transformative impact of Saturn's return with inspiring guests and thought-provoking discussions. 8.8 Sarah Wilson on Breaking Free: From the Hedonic Treadmill to a Wild, Precious, and Sustainable Life

Saturn returns is all about embracing and finding our true path, even if it means veering off the well-trodden one. It’s about resilience, adaptability, and finding a sustainable way of living that truly resonates with us. So I’m thrilled to be joined by Sarah Wilson In today’s episode of Saturn Returns. A former journalist, Cosmopolitan Australia's editor, and MasterChef Australia host who has truly lived a life less ordinary.  At 34, facing a life-threatening autoimmune disease, Sarah chose to quit sugar, a decision that not only managed her symptoms but also led to the creation of the global “I Quit Sugar” movement. She documented her journey and insights, encouraging others to embrace a healthier, sugar-free lifestyle.  This period of transformation led to Sarah embracing a more unconventional life, choosing a much more minimalist simple life, focused on travel, nature and discovery. Sarah officially jumped off the hedonic treadmill, moving away from her successful media empire to live in a forest army shed. Her experiences, including her battles with bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, are candidly shared in her book "First We Make the Beast Beautiful." Here, she reimagines anxiety, turning it into a source of strength and advocating for living authentically amidst life's chaos. We discuss Sarah’s latest book, "This One Wild and Precious Life," which addresses the collective feelings of anxiety and disconnection prevalent in today's world, fostering a sense of community and connection. She explores the modern challenges facing humanity, including climate change, political unrest, and the pervasive feelings of emptiness despite material abundance and how a shift to live more sustainably is not only essential, but will also lead to more happiness and fulfilment.  Join us in this episode as we explore Sarah’s journey and uncover the transformative power of living a wild and precious life. Ruby's books, 'Sober Curious' and her latest release 'Women Without Kids,' delve deep into the profound decisions that we often grapple with in our lives, particularly when it comes to the intricate path of motherhood. In this heartfelt conversation, Ruby generously shares her personal odyssey, taking us on a transformative journey that encompasses two of her most significant life questions. We explore her decision to embrace sobriety and her journey into mysticism, a path that led her to critically examine the role of children in her own life. Ruby opens up about those pivotal moments when she came to the realisation that her relationship with alcohol no longer served her spiritual growth. She candidly describes the shift from seeking solace in it to acknowledging that it conflicted with her true self, which is something I deeply relate to. Our discussion delves deep into Ruby's journey of self-discovery, where she courageously confronts her decision to remain child-free. She reflects on her upbringing and the complex dynamics within her family environment, shedding light on how they influenced her perspective. As we journey through her twenties, Ruby shares her thought-provoking experiences, marked by internalising societal pressures to become a mother. We ponder the rise of feminism in a predominantly masculine world and the influence it may have had on our own perceptions of motherhood and femininity. Questions arise: Can we maintain autonomy and pursue a career while being devoted mothers? Are we enough if we choose not to have children? Should we attempt to make ourselves want children to fit societal norms? Ruby takes us through her emotional yet liberating quest to answer these profound questions, ultimately leading her to write 'Women Without Kids.' This remarkable book provides much-needed balance and insight into the multifaceted aspects of this pivotal life choice. Throughout our conversation, Ruby offers sage advice to those wrestling with the complex and deeply personal decision of motherhood. She emphasises the importance of embracing a more balanced perspective and underscores that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. If you resonate with the struggles of procrastination, perfectionism, imposter syndrome or burnout then this conversation will be extremely beneficial. Caggie is joined by Aime McNee, a creative coach and fiction author. 7.8 From Self-Doubt to Self-Worth: Transforming the Power of Your Inner Critic with Sophie Dear

For many of us, ignoring burnout in pursuit of career success is an unhealthy habit that seems to be celebrated in many ways, coined as ‘the hustle culture’ phenomenon. 7.5 The Sweetness of Solitude with Francesca Specter

In this week’s episode of Saturn Returns Caggie is joined by renowned podcast host and author of the book “Alonement: How to be Alone and Absolutely Own in”, Francesca Specter. After her breakup several years ago, Francesca coined the term ‘Alonement’ and lives in alignment with finding joy in solitude. Francesca shares insight into the value of self love, making decisions for yourself and thriving in your own company. It is no secret that people often desire love and the comforts partnership can bring us and whilst these are things to be celebrated, there is also great value in creating the space to rediscover parts of ourselves that we may have abandoned in order to mould ourselves in relationships. This sparked the discussion on the value of diversifying our circle and questioning if we are living in true alignment with our own desires. Often our twenties can be a vulnerable and challenging time and, as we go through our Saturn Return, we are forced to re-evaluate and make necessary changes. In this conversation, Millie discusses the importance she now places on showing up for tomorrow’s you and her journey with looking deeper into alcohol and the effects it had on her anxiety. Both Millie and Caggie discuss their sober curious journeys and their reasons for choosing to redefine their relationship with alcohol after questioning the cost conforming to this social norm was having on their mental wellbeing. --- Follow or subscribe to "Saturn Returns" for future episodes, where we explore the transformative impact of Saturn's return with inspiring guests and thought-provoking discussions. In this week's episode of Saturn Returns join Caggie in conversation with Katherine Morgan Schafler, a licensed psychotherapist, writer, and speaker based in New York City, who is also the author of the book 'The Perfectionists Guide to Losing Control.' In this insightful discussion, Caggie and Katherine explore the complex nature of perfectionism, a common challenge that many encounter during their Saturn Return as perfectionism is an aspect of the shadow side of Saturn. They discuss the unattainable standards and nagging desire for perfection that can often arise during this transformative time of life but how this ultimately causes us to stall, sabotage and leave things unfinished. Drawing from her clinical expertise, Katherine dispels myths about perfectionism and breaks down the five main types she has identified. She also shares her insights on the links between addiction and perfectionism, based on her experiences as a psychotherapist. Throughout the episode, Caggie and Katherine emphasise the importance of self-worth and returning to one's core values as key elements in finding contentment and a sense of completeness. *Magic Moments* Shona Vertue on Sex and Relationships

In the lead up to the release of Caggie's first book Saturn Returns. This special mini series brings her favourite moments from the last three years back to the forefront: "As the New Year is upon us, I wanted us to take a trip down memory lane. Saturn Returns is coming up to its third birthday and it is going to be a very big year for the brand. To celebrate I have pulled some of my all-time favourite episodes over the last three years, starting off with an episode from season one, where I was joined by my friend Shona Vertue. This episode came out during the pandemic and was an instant hit. We unpacked sex in a way that seem to really resonate with you, our audience and as the live show coming up with a focus on dating and relationships I thought this episode was particularly appropriate." How do we establish and maintain our boundaries within a relationship? Why do we often attract the “wrong” people? And can we de-condition ourselves from everything Disney has taught us? Here’s why celibacy might be the answer... Shona Vertue and Caggie explore sex and relationships, and discuss where the line between independence and co-dependence lies.  --- Follow or subscribe to "Saturn Returns" for future episodes, where we explore the transformative impact of Saturn's return with inspiring guests and thought-provoking discussions. They discuss why we need to feel a sense of belonging, and how that need can influence our emotions and behaviour. Through our Saturn Return we often gain an awareness of the aspects of ourselves we had denied in order to 'fit in'. In order to belong to ourselves again and take back ownership of the parts of ourselves we might have denied or kept hidden, we may have to go through a difficult period, but it is in this space that we find ourselves. Caggie and Toko-pa also discuss loneliness, grief, and the interaction between the conscious and the subconscious via dreams. --- Follow or subscribe to "Saturn Returns" for future episodes, where we explore the transformative impact of Saturn's return with inspiring guests and thought-provoking discussions.
