Including The Curve with Felicity Hayward

This week on the podcast, the girls are joined by model Felicity Hayward! Over the course of Felicity's twelve-year modelling career, she started noticing that although brands wanted to use her to represent plus-sized people, they weren't actually increasing the sizing range of their clothing or making their products more accessible for larger people. Tired of being used as a gimmick to boost brands' false facade of inclusivity, Felicity invented the hashtag #IncludingTheCurve to shine a light on authentically inclusive brands and designers. Keen to make a long-term impact on the fashion industry, Felicity has continued to analyse every single show at every fashion week, persisting in her mission to discover who is and isn't making real changes. Em's Mum: 10-time Ironman and Queen of Having a Go

Today, we share one of our most highly requested episodes. It’s an interview with Em’s Mum! Having favoured smoking and drinking over exercise her entire life, Francie was given the opportunity to partake in an Ironman and said yes… without knowing what it actually was. An Ironman is a gruelling triathlon that consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon. Yep, a 26.2 mile run ON TOP of all that. Francie’s can-do attitude and endless hard work pushed her to compete in 10 Ironmans over the course of her 50s. Francie takes us through her extraordinary journey, how she still experiences imposter syndrome and you will see why Em is her number one fan (soon you will be too)!Don't forget to check out The Hags @thehaveagosFollow us on Instagram @shouldideletethatEmail us at shouldideletethatpod@gmail.comEdited by Daisy GrantMusic by Alex Andrew Hosted on Acast. Being a good person with Alice Liveing

This week, Em and Alex are joined by personal trainer and OG Instagram influencer Alice Liveing. When Alice started using social media, the support and praise she received from the online world kept her afloat; but soon, her desire for virtual validation had become all-encompassing, and she realised it was preventing her from truly knowing herself. She knew she needed to accept her whole self, and this meant accepting that she wasn’t perfect. She and the girls discuss how little space is given to existing imperfectly online. Alice also shares her heartbreaking experience of living through an abusive relationship. The truth behind Married at First Sight

TW: SuicideThis week on the podcast, Em and Alex are joined by Married at First Sight UK contestant Gemma Rose Barnes. Gemma wanted the perfect partner to complete her life, and so she signed up to MAFS in the belief that she was going to find just that, even getting a tattoo in honour of this man who she hadn’t met yet. She ended up becoming a controversial figure on MAFS due to her willingness to make crude jokes and openly talk about sex. She shares that her words were edited and taken out of context, and that her new husband’s keenness was edited out all together. Gemma experienced various mental health and addiction struggles, exacerbated due to the show, and had to make a change. Now sober, Gemma shares the reality behind this “reality” TV show, and how we as viewers need to take a more discerning attitude towards it.EDIT- A Channel 4 Spokesperson said: "Contributor care and wellbeing is of paramount importance and appropriate support is available to contributors before, during and after broadcast. Any concerns raised by contributors about safety would always be taken extremely seriously and we would take prompt and appropriate action when needed. Any action taken would always be agreed with the cast members involved to ensure they were satisfied with the resolution and outcome. Contributors are able to leave the process at any time. During filming, alcohol consumption is at the discretion of individuals, but it is monitored and limited by the production team and contributor welfare is always prioritised. We need to talk about the housing crisis with Kwajo

This week on the podcast, Em and Alex are joined by social housing activist Kwajo Tweneboa. Kwajo grew up in social housing, and his family were housed in inhabitable conditions: unsafe spaces riddled with mould, cockroaches, mice, leaks and damp. Kwajo’s father was diagnosed with cancer and, whilst being nursed in this environment, passed away from his illness. After receiving little to no help in making their home habitable, Kwajo decided enough was enough, and gathered evidence from over 500 tenants that lived on his estate; this enabled them to shame their housing association into finally carrying out the works that were needed. From there, Kwajo has been continuing the fight, shaming landlords and housing associations across the UK into providing safe, sanitary homes for all. Follow Kwajo on Instagram and Twitter @kwajohousingFollow us on Instagram @shouldideletethatEmail us at shouldideletethatpod@gmail.comProduced & edited by Daisy GrantMusic by Alex Andrew Hosted on Acast. The price women pay to be good

This week on the pod, the girls talk to author, podcaster and former chief content officer of goop, Elise Loehnen. Elise has co-written twelve books, five of which have been New York Times bestsellers, and Em and Alex are joined by her to discuss her latest, On Our Best Behaviour: The Price Women Pay to be Good. Why can women rarely recover from their failures? Why is the patriarchy so devastating to boys and men? Elise shares her manifesto, which argues that the seven deadly sins (lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride) have been used by the patriarchy to control women throughout our history. This fascinating theory expands on our episode with Jameela Jamil, back in January 2022, in which the girls spoke about why, as a society, we build women up only to tear them down. Pre-order Elise's book On Our Best Behaviour: The Price Women Pay to be GoodListen to Elise's podcast: Pulling the ThreadFollow Elise on Instagram @eliseloehnenFollow us on Instagram @shouldideletethatEmail us at shouldideletethatpod@gmail.comProduced & edited by Daisy GrantMusic by Alex Andrew Hosted on Acast. Life with alopecia- “I was 13 when I started losing my hair”

This week, the girls chat to Laura Mathias. Laura was 13 when she started losing her hair. No one could help her – not her mum, her friends or even her doctor. She was told, as a teenager, that stress was contributing to her development of alopecia. Stress management wasn’t easy, how could it be at that age? And as Laura’s hair continued to fall out, she finally plucked up the courage to ask for a wig. Now, almost two decades later, Laura has found herself finally ready to accept herself and her baldness. She’s starred in photoshoots, appeared on national television and even walked a runway, all without her wig. Laura wants other women and young girls with alopecia to not feel the helplessness that she did. Laura’s confidence #journey is incredible, and Em and Alex are so proud to share her story.Follow Laura on Instagram @relightalopeciaFollow us on Instagram @shouldideletethatEmail us at shouldideletethatpod@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. "My name is Sarah, I don't want to die"

This week on the podcast, the girls talk to Sarah de Lagarde. In September 2022, Sarah was involved in a freak accident that would change her life forever. After falling asleep on the tube, Sarah woke up and realised that she had slept past her stop. Like anyone in that situation would, she promptly got up and raced over towards another train that would get her home. As she did, she slipped on the wet platform and the unimaginable happened: she tripped and ended up falling down onto the tracks. Sarah lost her arm and her leg after the train took off, and with sheer determination she shouted for help by saying “My name is Sarah, I don’t want to die”. Twenty minutes later, after what must have felt like an eternity, someone finally heard her and got her the help she needed. Almost four months on from the accident, Sarah joined Alex and Em in the studio to discuss the incident and how she has managed to get through it all so gracefully.Sarah's Instagram @sjdelargardeSarah's Go Fund MeDonate to London's Air AmbulanceFollow us on Instagram @shouldideletethatEmail us at shouldideletethatpod@gmail.comProduced by Daisy GrantMusic by Alex Andrew Hosted on Acast. "If I go home, I'll be arrested" with Iranian feminist Samaneh Savadi

This week, Alex and Em talk to Iranian feminist activist Samaneh Savadi. The Islamic Republic of Iran has been experiencing turmoil as a result of the government’s misogynistic regime and the murders of many protestors and dissenters. After noticing their story views drop significantly whenever they spoke out about this issue, the girls wanted to bring a deeper awareness of it to themselves and to others by talking to Samaneh about her understanding and experience. Samaneh herself cannot go home to Iran out of fear of being arrested, or worse, for speaking out and campaigning for women’s rights. Being body-shamed on America's Next Top Model

After sharing a clip of Tyra Banks telling a America’s Next Top Model contestant to eat a burger without the bread, Alex was sent a DM. The message was from that very model, Keenyah Hill, who had been essentially told to eat less by Tyra on cycle 4 of ANTM. Keenyah, 19 at the time, had also been compared to an elephant by the judges, and edited in a way that exaggerated how much and how often she was eating. Keenyah wanted to share her version of events, how being on ANTM affected her life and what it taught her about the real world of modelling. Now a pose coach and model mentor, Keenyah teaches aspiring models how to be confident in themselves and let that confidence carry them through. You can follow Keenyah and check out her work via her Instagram @keenyah.hillFollow us on Instagram @shouldideletethatEmail us at shouldideletethatpod@gmail.comProduced & edited by Daisy GrantMusic by Alex Andrew Hosted on Acast. "I immediately thought my life is over" - Patsy Stevenson

This week, we've got a slightly different episode that saw us take the podcast into central London to join the Women’s Equality Party as they Marched On The Met. When we initially contacted Patsy Stevenson, we thought this would be a standard interview week, but then we realised that there was much more that needed to be shared. Patsy attended the Sarah Everard vigil on Clapham Common in March 2021; she quickly became synonymous with the arrests that took place that day, carried out by police who saw the vigil as a breach of covid regulations. Her face was suddenly everywhere, the face of the unrest that happened when women's attempts to mourn were crushed. The story is bigger than this though. After Patsy shared her thoughts on what really happened that day, we followed her to Trafalgar Square to join a protest against institutional misogyny and racism within the police. We heard from some incredible women there, and wanted to share their thoughts with you.The speakers you heard from today were:Patsy StevensonMandu ReidMarvina Eseoghene NewtonJenn SelbyChantelle LuntDawn ButlerBell Ribeiro AddyMiss YankeySouthall Black SistersAlso, we suggest checking out Sistah Space and their work on Valerie's Law.Follow us on Instagram @shouldideletethatEmail us at shouldideletethatpod@gmail.comProduced & edited by Daisy GrantMusic by Alex Andrew Hosted on Acast. Debunking Diet Myths with Dr. Joshua Wolrich

On the release of this episode, it didn’t feel right to ignore or fail to address the tragic, heartbreaking developments in Ukraine.Depending on our schedules, we often pre-record our episodes before they goes live and for this reason, we haven’t acknowledged the devastating events that are currently unfolding in this upcoming episode.  While we’re still not entirely sure what we can do to help in even the smallest way, we are currently speaking with trusts and charities on how best to bring more light to the situation and share with you. Unfortunately, time isn’t always on our side and we haven’t been able to make this happen as quickly as we would have hoped. We’re sending love out to everyone and hope that we can help direct you to channels that share the facts on the situation and also what we as individuals can do to help. This week, we grill Dr. Joshua Wolrich on common dieting misconceptions.
