S3 Ep12: ADHD and Mental Health with Gemma Styles

Did you know that men are 3x more likely than women to be diagnosed with ADHD? ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a type of neurodivergence with symptoms that can include restlessness, trouble concentrating, and sensory issues. It can can have huge implications for your life, work, and mental health, but quite often it’s missed until people notice it themselves, and advocate for it with their GPS. It’s also something we’re seeing more of on TikTok, which is making some people worry that it’s being glamourised and turned into a bandwagon. But with diagnosis so hard to come by, especially in the UK, maybe there’s some value in self-diagnosis? Gemma Styles recently opened up about her experience with being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and we’re so pleased she’s joining us today to talk us through the process of being diagnosed, what this meant for her mental health/self-love, and how she’s adjusted to her diagnosis. 🧠If you think you might have ADHD, here are some resources to check out: ADHD UK - https://adhduk.co.uk Adult ADHD Self-Screening Tool: https://adhduk.co.uk/adult-adhd-screening-survey/ Diagnosis pathways for ADHD (UK) - https://adhduk.co.uk/diagnosis-pathways/ Videos about ADHD - https://adhduk.co.uk/videos/ ADHD and Mental Health - https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/tips-for-everyday-living/adhd-and-mental-health/ ADHD Common Questions and Answers - https://www.adhdawarenessmonth.org/category/q-a/ ADHD Support Groups - https://www.ukadhd.com/support-groups.htm Virtual Body Doubling - https://www.flow.club Today's Sponsors: 💦 If you'd like to try ROAM, head to exploreroam.com and use code LOVE for 20% off site wide 🧠 If you'd to try BetterHelp, head to betterhelp.com/GOLOVE, where you can get 10% off your first month. 🎥If you'd like to watch this episode, we're on YouTube: youtube.com/@goloveyourselfpod 🙏 You can support us on Patreon for £1 a week to get ad free and early episodes: https://www.patreon.com/goloveyourself 🙏 Or support us on Apple Podcasts for £1 a week to get ad free and early episodes: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast... 📧 If you'd like to contact us, you can email: golove@crowdnetwork.co.uk 📷 Or follow us on Instagram: @goloveyourselfpod ❤️ Join our Facebook group to connect with other listeners: https://www.facebook.com/groups/51272...

S3 Ep11: Life as a Sex Worker with Miranda Kane

Sex work has always been around, but it still faces huge taboos and criminalisation. And with more people than ever taking on sex work, we wanted to chat about what that world is REALLY like, especially for people in bigger bodies. So this week we’re joined by the FABULOUSLY funny Miranda Kane, who used to work under the name “Melody BBW” and actually might be louder than Lauren?!?!! And we chatted about sex worker rights, our thoughts on ‘BBW’, becoming sexually empowered, and some wild stories including Cape Face Dave, and the Bin Man… Plus we had a little catch up about the Bake Off Musical!! P.s. a huge thank you to our Patron Ro for suggesting Miranda as a guest! S3 Ep10: A Beginner's Guide to BMI

We've been doing this for a while now, and of course we still always get the "What about health?" questions. So, we thought it’d be good to chat a bit more about fatness, health, and BMI. A lot of you will know this already, but it’s one of the main ways that medical professionals determine health. So you’ll often go to the GP for a medical issue and be weighed, even if it’s something irrelevant like an ear infection. It’s often the thing that’s mostly focused on in terms of improving your health, and quite often it’s even used to deny care, with cuts offs for treatment for things like infertility if you’re over a certain BMI. So we know it has a huge impact on how our health is viewed and treated. But the more we looked into it, the more we realised how backwards this system is! It was never supposed to be used like this, yet here we are, letting it have a huge impact on our self worth and quality of care. So, let's chat about it. For more information about HAES, click here. Today's sponsors: 🧘‍♀️If you’d like to try the Virtual Yoga Studio you can head to virtualyogastudio.com/love, and for £15 you’ll get 3 months of access to daily classes that can be done at your own pace and from wherever you want. 🧠 If you'd to try BetterHelp, head to betterhelp.com/GOLOVE, where you can get 10% off your first month. ✨NEW EPISODES EVERY TUESDAY, CLICK SUBSCRIBE TO GET THE EPISODES FIRST!✨ 🎥If you'd like to watch this episode, we're on YouTube: youtube.com/@goloveyourselfpod 🙏 You can support us on Patreon for £1 a week to get ad free and early episodes: https://www.patreon.com/goloveyourself 🙏 Or support us on Apple Podcasts for £1 a week to get ad free and early episodes: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast... 📧 If you'd like to contact us, you can email: golove@crowdnetwork.co.uk 📷 Or follow us on Instagram: @goloveyourselfpod ❤️ Join our Facebook group to connect with other listeners: https://www.facebook.com/groups/51272...

S3 Ep9: The History of Clothes Sizing (And How We Were Set Up to Fail)

We KNOW how messed up clothes sizing is. We’re taught to equate our self-worth with what size knickers we wear, which is obviously not true. And the more we looked into it the more we realised that clothes sizes are actually bull**** - it’s all made up, it’s changed over time, and it’s never consistent. Basically, we’ve been set up to fail, and we wanted to do more of a deep dive into why exactly that is. So in today's episode we're SO excited to chat to fashion historian Nicole Rudolph about where clothes sizing came from, how it got so messed up, and how we can remove the emotional aspect of sizing. This one was a huge lightbulb moment for us, so we hope you enjoy!  Also a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to everyone who came to the live show - it honestly was one of the best nights (if not THE best) of our lives. We didn't have time to catch up about it before releasing this ep, so we'll have a proper catch up in next week's episode xxx If you’d like to try the Virtual Yoga Studio you can head to virtualyogastudio.com/love, thand for £15 you’ll get 3 months of access to daily classes that can be done at your own pace and from wherever you want.

S3 Ep8: Confidence, Geordie Shore, and the Reality of Making Plus Size Clothes (with Jess On The Plus Size)

Jess Millichamp is an ICONIC pioneer in the British plus-size fashion world, and probably the first person we ever saw living their unapologetic best life on Instagram. So we've obviously been desperate to chat to her for ages, and here she finally is! She also had us in absolute stitches the whole time, and we're 10000% going to Newcastle for a night out (thoughts on Tequila Rose...?) We're also chatting about confidence, answering some of your questions, and getting a sneak peak at what goeson behind the scenes to make her incredible clothing line!! Plus Lauren attempts some horrific Geordie accents and we freak out about the live show THIS FRIDAY 😅 Couple of tickets left here if you haven't got your yet! xxx https://www.tegeurope.com/events/go-love-yourself/  If you’d like to try the Virtual Yoga Studio you can head to virtualyogastudio.com/love, thand for £15 you’ll get 3 months of access to daily classes that can be done at your own pace and from wherever you want.

S3: Introducing... Other People's Pockets: Mistress Marley, Financial Dominatrix

Here's a preview of another podcast we think you’ll enjoy, Other People's Pockets. Have you ever wondered how your friend affords a new outfit for every night out, or why that colleague  makes everyone meticulously split the tab down to the last Diet Coke? Other People's Pockets is a show about other people’s money. Host Maya Lau asks people from all walks of life to get radically transparent about their personal finances in order to learn more about who we are and level the playing field a little bit along the way. In this preview, Maya sits down with Mistress Marley, a financial dominatrix who makes money from people whose kink is simply giving her lots of cash, without being physically touched in return. Mistress Marley talks bondage, real-time reparations, and why her clients think giving away money is a turn-on. Listen the full episode and more from Other People's Pockets here!

S3 Ep7: Our Relationships with Exercise

Wellll it’s safe to say our relationships with exercise are NOT the best. We grew up feeling like exercise was a punishment, something we weren’t cut out for, or something to justify what we could eat. But after our episode with intuitive movement expert Tally Rye in season 1, we’ve been thinking more about how much movement could do for our mental health, relationships with our bodies, and just overall lives. Trying to improve our relationships with exercise is a really long and complicated process, but in this episode we wanted to give you an honest look at what that “journey” has been like for us so far. Plus, Lauren chats to us about trying her first ever dance class after putting it off for years! S3 Ep6: Ozempic, Ghost Celery Juice, and Other Diet Culture Myths (with AUBREY GORDON)

We cannot believe it, but today we’re chatting to one of our absolute HEROES, fat activist Aubrey Gordon (@yrfatfriend). In this episode we’re myth-busting all things “wellness” and diet culture, including the ghost from the future who *apparently* popularised celery juice, and the viral weight-loss drug, Ozempic. Plus we chat about getting into fat activism, supporting marginalised bodies, and the new US guidance encouraging diets in children as young as 2. 🎭 And, we're doing a live show! S3: Introducing... Stolen Hearts

Here's another show we think you'll enjoy... a true crime podcast called Stolen Hearts. Have you ever of heard the phrase ‘opposites attract’? Well this a love story that takes that to another level.  Jill Evans has it all: big house, fast car, and a great career as a sergeant in Wales. But she's starting to think love is never going to happen for her. Then everything changes after she meets self-proclaimed entrepreneur,  Dean Jenkins online.  After a few dates they go on a spontaneous holiday to Italy, where Dean's paying with bags full of cash. It could be a red flag, but Jill doesn’t care. He’s the one. 6 months in, Jill's pregnant, and they make plans to spend the rest of their lives together. But the night after Halloween, Jill gets a text. A text that changes everything. Here's a clip from the show, and if you'd like to listen to more head here -https://link.chtbl.com/StolenHeartsGLY

S3 Ep5: Anxiety, Panic Attacks, and How We Can Help Ourselves (with Anxiety Josh)

We've chatted about our anxiety a lot, but it's time to dive a bit deeper (Lauren's favourite 😉).  While people are talking more openly about anxiety, and we LOVE it, the differences between feeling anxious and having an Anxiety Disorder are often forgotten. Not to mention how often the more taboo bits, like intrusive thoughts and panic attacks, still face a bit of stigma. So this week we've recruited Anxiety Josh to chat us through the different types of anxiety disorders (including GAD, agoraphobia, panic disorder and OCD), how to recognise these, and how to help ourselves/our friends if they're struggling with anxiety. We absolutely loved chatting to Josh, and it couldn't have come at a better time considering what Anxious Aardvark's we are right now. Surprisingly, this episode was also HILARIOUS to record, and we learnt a bit about the kink world... S3 Ep4: Feeling Friend-Worthy and Cutting Out “Hi Hun” Friends

It's not something we talk about enough, but making friends as an adult is HARD. You grow up seeing all these amazing friend groups on TV, but we promise it's not always like that, and you're not alone if you're feeling friendship anxiety. Plus, sometimes friendships aren't serving you and it's okay to cut them out!! We don't see movies about friendship breakups but seriouslyyyy they can be just as hard as romantic ones! So today, we're chatting all things friendships - why we feel anxious about them, how to find new pals, when/how to cut people out, and SO much more. Plus we react to some Am I the Asshole submissions on Reddit about other people's friendships, and oh my god it's the best thing ever (absolutely living for the drama of these!!!) ✨NEW EPISODES EVERY TUESDAY, CLICK SUBSCRIBE TO GET THE EPISODES FIRST!✨ 🎥If you'd like to watch this episode, we're on YouTube: youtube.com/@goloveyourselfpod 🙏 You can support us on Patreon for £1 a week to get ad free and early episodes: https://www.patreon.com/goloveyourself 🙏 Or support us on Apple Podcasts for £1 a week to get ad free and early episodes: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast... 📧 If you'd like to contact us, you can email: golove@crowdnetwork.co.uk 📷 Or follow us on Instagram: @goloveyourselfpod ❤️ Join our Facebook group to connect with other listeners: https://www.facebook.com/groups/51272... 🎭 And, we're doing a live show! S3 Ep3: The Reality of Binge Eating (with Therapist Sarah Dosanjh)

This is an episode we’ve been wanting to do for such a long time. We’ve spoken a bit about our experiences with overeating and our disordered relationships with food, but in this episode we’re speaking to former binge eater turned psychotherapist, Sarah Dosanjh, about the reality of binge eating disorder, learning to be kinder to ourselves, how to recognise it’s a problem for you, and how to take the first steps toward recovery. It very much became a therapy session for us, so a warning that this episode contains detailed references to eating disorders, particularly binge eating disorder. If you’re struggling with an eating disorder, please visit beateatingdisorders.org.uk. You can also find Sarah’s Youtube channel and podcast here. We also have some very exciting news - we have a new YouTube channel where you can now WATCH our episodes! So make sure you subscribe there if you want to see our faces (and the bag of dicks…)

S3 Ep2: Spicy books, representation, and writing *intimate* scenes...

Anyone else on 🌶spicy🌶 book tok or is it just Lauren? A good romance book written by a woman just hits different, but it can be really hard to find the right one (almost as hard as reading one in public🤣)!! So in this episode, Lauren’s telling us what we should look, which books to start with, and where we can find books with good fat rep. But will it be enough to convince Laura to try one out?! Plus, one of our favourite authors, Bethany Rutter, joins us to chat about the importance of representation, what it’s like in the publishing industry, and what it’s like writing spicy scenes… This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. S2 Ep23: What We’ve Learnt This Year

Ohhhh it's a spicy one. We both have polar opposite views about Harry and Meghan so we need to talk about! Plus it's the final episode of season 2 (😢), so we're getting all reflective about what we've learnt this year, how are relationships with food/movement are at the moment, and what we're hoping for in 2023, and most importantly, HOW we can get Lizzo on the pod. We're also chatting dream Christmas meals and getting WAY too excited about it. We'll be back with a new season in January! As long as we don't have another fight about the Royals... But in the meantime, you can find us on instagram at @goloveyourselfpod, on Facebook at the Go Love Yourself Community group, or on email at golove@crowdnetwork.co.uk. S2 Ep21: Setting boundaries, calling out your family, and dealing with Christmas diet culture

What are we meant to do when that random aunt starts spewing diet culture or asking us why we’ve put on weight?!?! Allll year round people feel like they’re allowed to comment on your body or offer unsolicited “advice” for your “health”. But this time of year, it can be so much harder because people close to you feel like they can make these types of comments, and you can’t avoid them because it happens at family events. Plus there’s the INEVITABLE “when are you having kids?” and comments about indulging now and dieting later.  So we NEED to talk about setting boundaries, calling out your family and dealing with Christmas diet culture. Plus, we chat about present ideas during the cost-of-living crisis, and taking the stress out of it all. TICKETS FOR OUR LIVE SHOW ARE NOW ON SALE AND CAN BE FOUND HERE 🤩

S2 Ep20: Menopause, being on Eastenders, and A HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! (with INPOlife)

We've been wanting to talk about this forever because society LOVES to make us scared of ageing and the menopause. There's always been so much stigma around it that people end up suffering in silence. And it looks so different on everyone that people can end up feeling confused, alone, unsupported by doctors, and a bit like they're going mad. But menopause is completely normal, there is help out there, and you're not alone. So in this episode, we're chatting to the fabulous Vickie aka INPOlife about her experience getting a hysterectomy at 40, fighting for 5 years to get a menopause diagnosis, and what living with menopause is like for her. Plus, Laura is absolutely convinced that Vickie was on Eastenders, and..... WE HAVE A HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT! S2 Ep19: Learning to feel SEXY and the big Bounty debate...

We’re flying solo this week because we neeeeed to catch up about Lauren entering her sexy era. I mean, did you SEE that thirst trap?!? And if you’ve been listening for a while, you’ll know this is a huge shift from a few months ago. So we need to know what’s changed and WHAT HER SECRET IS! We both kind of broadly represent two types of listener - the single one entering her hoe season, and the one in a long-term marriage who’s not even thinking about feeling sexy. So hopefully there’s lots you guys can relate to as we unpack it alll, and some helpful tips if you want to find your inner sexy goddess! In the words of Scotty Unfamous… SEXY IS A VIBE, IT’S NOT ABOUT HOW YOU LOOK.

S2 Ep18: PCOS, body hair, and the Taylor Swift controversy

We're finally doing one of our most requested episodes, and we're joined by plus size and PCOS content creator ThatGirlSare to talk all things Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It's something that affects 1 in 10 women, but doctors are constantly undermining people's symptoms because "pain is normal for girls" or "all your issues are caused by your weight". And even if you get a diagnosis, there's no treatment and support is limited, so in this episode we're talking through the reality of life with PCOS, diagnosis, symptoms, dealing with patronising doctors, and normalising body hair. Plus we have a much needed catch up Lauren's sexy instagram post, Disney's first plus-size female protagganist, and the controversy around Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero music video... If you'd like ad-free and early access to our episodes, you can subscribe on Apple Podcasts, or Patreon for just £1 a week (or £2 a week if you fancy giving us a little extra financial support and getting a shoutout on the pod!)

S2 Ep17: Being fat, disabled and CONFIDENT

Disabled isn't a bad word, okay?! Fat disabled people are still treated as second class citizens and we need to talk about it. Accessibility in the UK is still shockingly bad and disabled people are constantly facing extra judgement from ableist people.  And yes, there have been massive improvements to plus size representation, but sticking in a white able-bodied plus size women and a pretty disabled woman in the corner of a campaign lineup isn't good enough.  So today, we're chatting to disabled fashion blogger, FromSarahLex about the reality of being a wheelchair user, how doctors have treated her because of her weight, and how she's learnt to be a confident bad bitch 💅. Sarah is the absolute best and somehow managed to match Lauren's energy?!?! Who knew that was possible... Anyway, we're besties now and Sarah may be building a sidecar onto her wheelchair so her and Lauren can go around town talking to strangers...

Ohhhh this episode is a really rough one for our friendship 😅 Halloween is just around the corner so it's time to chat about our costume ideas (it's hard out there in a bigger body!) and general thoughts on Halloween. S2 Ep15: Let's Talk Male Body Image

THERE'S FINALLY A BOY IN THE ROOM! We know how much diet culture has messed with us, but we've never actually spoken to a man about how it's impacted them*. So in this episode we're chatting to Laura's good friend and Masterchef The Professionals star, Aaron Middleton. There's sooooo much about lad dynamics that we just don't get, so it's a FASCINATING insight into all things banter/ripping into your mates, talking to your friends about body image, and our different experiences with diet culture. *obviously Aaron can't talk for literally all men (imagine how scary it'd be to have all men ever on the pod ?!) and we can't talk for all women so this is only one perspective and isn't representative of all men/male friendship groups! We also don't talk about the experience of NB or trans people because we can't speak to those, but would love to cover that with guests in future xx

S2 Ep14: Bake Off Chats and Mental Health Updates

Let's sit down and catch up about all things Bake Off, dating and mental health! It's that time of year when our mental health can start to feel a bit ~rocky~ so we thought it'd be a good time to answer some of your questions and have a solid natter about how we're doing. We chat about everything from seasonal depression and diet culture habits we're struggling to break, to how Lauren's dating is going and what it's like for Laura to watch Bake Off. TW: this episode includes references to severe depression, suicide/suicidal thoughts, disordered eating and body image issues. If you're struggling with your mental health or just need someone to talk to, you can call the Samaritans at 116 123. It's free for people in the UK and the helpline is open 24/7. S2 Ep13: Are we being fetishised or fancied?

Yayyyy we've made new podcast friends, and this week we're chatting to Nicci and Alex from the Swipe Fat podcast! So tune in for lots of chats about dating horror stories, orgasms, fatfishing, fannies, fetishisation, one night stands, and the best sex we've ever had. S2: Laura on Finding the Funny

Here's another podcast we think you'll love! Meet Ange and Ruth Corden (who came on our show a few weeks ago). They're the funny, straight talking, slightly sweary sisters who spend roughly half an hour a week finding the funny in the shit that is life. From the big questions to the continued frustrations of having to "adult", this podcast is bound to get you laughing.

S2 Ep12: The Scary Reality of Weight Loss TV

Unfortunately, we'll all remember the boom of weight loss shows in the 2000s. From the Biggest Loser to Supersize vs Superskinny, these shows harmed our relationships with our bodies and made us think that we had to crash diet. They're the epitome of diet culture and the toxic 'eat less move more' attitude. And the reality is, they usually didn't even work, and sometimes harmed people's bodies. So this week, after we rant about our own experience with weight loss shows, we chat to our friend Sarah LeBrocq, who was on a weight loss show in 2013, about her experience and how it turned her into an obesity advocate.

S2 Ep11: Dating, ageing and drinking wine with Lauren Talulah

We've always known our Lauren and guest Lauren aka Curvy Roamer are practically the same person. And now finally the Laurens are united and getting wine drunk!! In this episode, we had a big fat dmc about everything from dating and being fetishised, to the pressure of ageing and getting botox, and even to Lauren (Talulah)'s past life as a dairy farmer. It's chaos, but in the best possible way. So grab your rosés and settle in!

S2 Ep10: Sex and Intimacy with Sexfluencer Scotty Unfamous

The episode you’re about to hear was recorded before the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II. We're sending our condolences to everyone who’s mourning, particularly her family. We've been wanting to talk about sex FOREVER, but as you know we are very much not experts... So we've got the incredible sexfluencer (best word ever), Scotty Unfamous, to come and chat to us about removing stigma, loving your body in the bedroom, getting slutty, and how to ask for what you want. Plus we have some exciting news - check out our new subscription offering on Apple and Patreon to help us keep the show going!

S2 Ep9: Unlearning Fashion Rules

Fashion might seem a bit frivolous, especially because we always say the way you look is the least interesting thing about you. But it’s so hard to actually let go of beauty standards - we’re unlearning a lifetime of shit here! And sometimes wearing nice clothes that you love can really kick start your confidence. But there are soooo many “rules” we’ve been taught we should follow when it comes to fashion. And wtf even is “flattering?! We’re still learning how to navigate it all, and trying fight diet culture while still being confident and comfortable in our own bodies. So in this episode we’re having an open and honest chat about how to break fashion “rules”, whether it’s ok to still be stuck in the “flattering” mindset, and whether we actually really like floral midi dresses ?!?

S2 Ep8: Becoming Best Friends with Ruth and Ange Corden

Welcome to the most chaotic podcast you've ever witnessed... This week we're chatting to the hilarious Ruth and Ange (aka Patty and Angie, aka our new best friends from here on our). We chatted for hours about everything from their most brutal fights in Flo Rida, to their relationships with their bodies and access to healthcare for people in bigger bodies. But luckily for you, we have an editor so this episode is just the funny bits/the bits that actually make sense... This was so much fun to record and we ADORE them with all of our hearts. Hope you love this one too xxx TW: references to infertility

S2 Ep7: Let's Talk About Body Privilege

The way you look is the least interesting thing about you, BUT it's still a huge factor in how the rest of the world views you and treats you, so it's time for us to talk about body privilege. It can be awkward and uncomfortable, but it's such an important topic so in this episode we're chatting about the spectrum of body privileges, the history of the body positivity and fat liberation movements, and our own privileges. We are by no means experts - just people who have done research, are constantly learning, and are trying to make an inclusive community. So there's no shame at all if you're also still learning and feel a bit strange thinking about privilege when we live in a world where we're all made to hate our bodies. Feel free to just listen with an open mind, and remember that recognising body privilege does not take away from your own struggles. If you'd like to do more of your own research, these resources are a good place to start: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uaKmxbeZCwhp4tfhX0b8BzpqPfOXggDRkydeRu8D_d0/edit?usp=sharing  And if you'd like to come our meet up in Brighton, check out the event on Facebook!

Outdoor activities are so bloody fun and the outdoors is for EVERYONE, no matter what you look like, but it doesn't always feel like it. But Every Body Outdoors are a brilliant group who are trying to improve clothing, gear and representation for larger and plus sized bodies in the outdoors movement in the UK. So today we're chatting to one of their founders, Steph Wetherell, about getting into hiking, what it did for her relationship with her body, the reality of the outdoor clothing industry, and so much more! Plus, we're announcing the first ever OFFICIAL Go Love Yourself meet up! For more information, here's the event: https://fb.me/e/2DCCZdv8r.

S1 Ep18: Our Mental Health Stories

So here's the part of self-love that people don't always want to talk about. But mental health is SO important. Because when you don’t love yourself, your mental health can completely go to shit. When you live in a bigger body you’re basically taught to change yourself or even hate yourself. And when you've got poor mental health, it's easy to tell yourself you've failed. We get it. We both have shitty mental health sometimes, and we're ready to talk about it. So we hope this episode brings you a bit of comfort and makes you realise you're not alone. We love you so much and we promise it gets better. TW: This episode contains references to suicide and suicidal thoughts. If you think this episode might be triggering for you, please skip it. And if you need to talk to someone, please call the Samaritans at 116 123. Someone will always be there to listen, day or night, and it’s free for all UK phone numbers. (okay, maybe there's a tiny bit - we had to!)

S1 Ep13: Why We Broke Up With Slimming Clubs

Nothing screams diet-binge cycle quite like slimming clubs! We've both been to diet clubs close to 10 times each, so we know what it's like. They might work for a handful of people, but for the rest of us, they're TOXIC and destroy our relationships with food. They place moral value on foods, shame us if we put on weight, and charge us a fortune in the meantime. We don't know what the answer is, but we know our experiences with slimming clubs have impacted our relationships with our bodies for the worse - and we know we're not the only ones. TW: This episode contains references to eating disorders. If you’re struggling with an eating disorder and are in the UK, the Beat Eating Disorders charity has a hotline. S1 Ep12: Intuitive Movement with Tally Rye

We don't know about you, but exercise has ALWAYS been made to feel like punishment.  Like the only way we can be worthy is by eating less and moving more. Exercise can be incredible for mental health and stress relief, but it's hard to untangle that from allll the diet culture bullshit. Tally Rye created intuitive movement, inspired by the concept of intuitive eating. It's all about re-learning what it is your body actually wants, as opposed to what you think you should be doing, according to diet culture. So this week she joined us to explain what intuitive movement is, and how we can improve our relationships with exercise.

S1: BONUS: The Reality of Calories on Menus

This month the UK Government are introducing regulations that say all large restaurants and cafes have to start displaying calories on menus. So, we're here to have a rant about how damaging this could be, and why it's a completely misguided way to tackle "the obesity epidemic" - a phrase that, quite honestly, makes us want to vom. We also chat about alternatives that could genuinely help. Feel free to hit us up for a chat, Boris... TW: This episode contains references to eating disorders. S1 Ep9: BMI and Healthcare with Dr Joshua Wolrich

The bias against plus size people in healthcare is scary. How many of us have been told that the solution to an earache is losing weight? How many times have people assumed things about our health because of our weight. We know it's absolute rubbish. So this week we're joined by Dr Josh Wolrich to chat nutribollocks, the problem with BMI, access to healthcare, and his earlier singing career... S1 Ep2: Our Stories

This week, we want to tell you a bit more about our stories so you can understand where we’re coming from when we talk about fighting diet culture and growing to love ourselves. We’re both now plus size, but we have very different stories. Laura grew up bigger and has had a problem with comfort eating for as long as she can remember.  Meanwhile, Lauren grew up smaller, but was made self conscious of her body from a young age, and gained weight later in life as a result of trauma.  In a culture rife with diet-culture and fatphobia, we all have similar experiences of low self-esteem and problematic relationships with our bodies and food. But we’ve also all been taught to hide it and feel ashamed. We're here to stop that, and hopefully, you can find some comfort in our stories today!
