In 2020, LBC launched True Crime podcast series 'Hunting Ghislaine' where legendary investigative reporter John Sweeney investigated how the daughter of a billionaire, Ghislaine Maxwell, ended up being accused of multiple charges for helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually exploit and abuse under-age women.

Now, John Sweeney is back with a new podcast, Hunting Ghislaine: The Trial. Each week he’ll be dissecting the key moments and talking points from Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial in New York, navigating his way towards the climax of this grimly fascinating case.

The Aftermath

After over 40 hours of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict finding Ghislaine Maxwell guilty on 5 out of 6 counts.

However, rather than this being the end of a dark, twisted fairy tale, the jurors decision could raise further questions to be answered. Questions involving some very powerful people who may be less than happy with the trial outcome. In this episode John Sweeney and his producer Ruth Barnes discuss the impact of this guilty verdict.

The Verdict

Ghislaine Maxwells defence begins, but starts with more of a whimper than a bang. So far, we’ve heard from 2 witnesses who’s testimony seemed underwhelming and a false memory expert who didn’t quite cut the mustard. However, Ghislaine’s defence team are planning to call one of the survivors lawyers to the stand and this could change everything.
