This is a True Crime podcast with me, Elli Mac.

May 7th, 2017 was an ordinary Sunday in the town of Bellaire, Ohio. For the Kinney family, it was a day to run errands. David Kinney, along with his wife Cheri and her 13-year-old daughter, had to make a quick stop at his best friend, Brad McGarry’s house to drop off an electric weed trimmer for him to borrow. But the ordinary task turned into something far more sinister when they arrived and noticed Brad’s door was suspiciously open. David stuck his head in and yelled out for Brad, but all that greeted him was a haunting silence. Struck with the fear that something could be seriously wrong in the home, the three members of the Kinney family walked in.And their concerns grew into panic as they realized that the house had been ransacked. They kept calling for Brad, but he was seemingly nowhere to be found. David made his way through the house, and when he got to the basement, he frantically shouted to Cheri to call 911.Brad McGarry was lying face down on the floor of his basement, with a pool of blood around him. When police arrived on the scene, officers found David and Cheri outside the house, hysterical over the loss of their beloved friend, who their kids lovingly called “Uncle Brad”.Brad was not only a dear friend to the Kinney family, but someone who was adored by a huge network of family and friends. As the investigation began, what looked like a possible fatal home invasion soon shaped into something far more personal.Someone who claimed to love Brad, and who may have been among the people closest to him, would ultimately be arrested for his murder.=============================================DISCLAIMER - This video contains themes of violence. In the early hours of Monday 9 May 2022, in Ballymun, on the northside of Dublin, Ireland, a woman looked out of her window and saw a man in her neighbour's back garden. It was around 2am. For the next day and a half, no one heard from her.On the Tuesday afternoon, a friend went to the house. The back door was unlocked. Inside, Lisa was lying on the living room floor. She had been stabbed in the chest, and wrapped around her neck was the cord from a window blind.Who had killed Lisa Thompson in her own home? And there was a man inside their home, a man Thomas said he had just shot. When police arrived, Sharon was dead in the hallway. In the garage lay the body of the man Thomas had shot. He had been wearing a mask, Thomas said. But he wasn’t a stranger. He was 38-year-old Michael James Miller, a man who had been doing odd jobs around the Randolphs’ home.At first, there appeared to be an explanation. A burglary had gone wrong. An intruder had killed a woman in her own home, and her husband had killed the intruder. But as detectives began looking more closely at Thomas Randolph, they discovered something extraordinary.Sharon was not his first wife. She was his sixth. And she was not the first of his wives to die…=============================================DISCLAIMER - This video contains themes of violence. Convicting him was going to be another. What followed was two and a half years of legal warfare. The state wanted the death penalty. And Bryan Kohberger, was going to make them work for every inch of it.He fought the DNA. He fought the phone records. He fought the car, the eyewitness, the indictment itself. He fought to move the trial three hundred miles. He fought to have the death penalty ruled unconstitutional in his case. But everything was Denied.By the summer of 2025, he was out of arguments, out of appeals, and weeks away from a trial that could have ended with him in front of a firing squad. And then, with almost no warning, he told an Ada County courtroom. This is the full legal journey of Bryan Kohberger. Every motion, every ruling, the deal that stopped the trial, and the four families who had to sit and listen to it.And then, in July 2026, from a maximum security prison, he surprised everyone once again. He said he wanted to take it all back. That he had been lied to. That he was innocent. So how does a man confess to four murders, and then, a year later, say he never did it?And will Bryan Kohberger get the trial he now says he wants?=============================================📩 For business inquiries: ellimacproductions@gmail.com=============================================📚 Sources for this episode: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ht1nWObTQDXejYpIIvTY01fb3f7afnJa/view?usp=share_link

In the living room, they found David sitting in an armchair, subdued, and seemingly defeated.Upstairs, in her own bed, lay his wife of nearly two decades, Linda Maggs, dying from wounds inflicted just moments before.David didn't run and He didn't deny it, and he was arrested at the scene. What could drive a husband to turn with such sudden, savage violence on the woman he had shared almost thirty years of his life with?=============================================📩 For business inquiries: ellimacproductions@gmail.com=============================================📚 Sources for this episode: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U5rrITKZaeteLG6tOps6cVcf1L27CHJD/view?usp=share_link

The Murder Of Linda Maggs

On the morning of Sunday 24 April 2016, a group of tourists were exploring the rugged coastline of the Munmorah State Conservation Area on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia, when something caught their attention below the lookout at Snapper Point. As the powerful surf surged through the blowhole, the object repeatedly surfaced before disappearing beneath the white foam. At first, they couldn’t tell what they were looking at. Then it rolled over, and the horrifying truth became unmistakable. It was the naked body of a young woman, floating face down as the waves dragged her violently across the jagged rocks.Police were called immediately, and a dangerous recovery operation began along the slippery coastline. A rescue helicopter went down to retrieve the body. Detectives quickly ruled out any possibility of an accident. The young woman had been stabbed almost 40 times, with the fatal wound to her throat. They believed she had been deliberately left there, not carried in by the sea.She had no identification, no phone, no bag, and nothing to reveal who she was or how she had ended up on a stretch of coastline. It would take homicide detectives days just to learn her name and to find out who had murdered her.And when they finally did, the answer was far closer to home than anyone could have imagined.=============================================📩 For business inquiries: ellimacproductions@gmail.com=============================================📚 Sources for this episode: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13sl8HgJyPmexcuUXWkemOjJ4RXOdMLdO/view?usp=share_link

On the morning of October 9th, 2020, a Texas state trooper spotted a woman driving erratically, close to the Texas–Oklahoma border. When the trooper pulled the vehicle over, the driver was frantic. She was screaming for help, claiming she had just given birth on the side of the road. Sitting in her lap was a newborn baby girl who wasn't breathing. The baby's umbilical cord was still attached, and blood covered the woman's clothing. Everything about the scene suggested that she had only just given birth. An ambulance was called immediately, and both the woman and the infant were rushed to a hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. But once doctors began examining the woman, something didn't make sense. Despite her claims, there were no signs that she had recently given birth. As medical staff tried to understand what was happening, investigators began piecing together a far darker picture.Because around 70 miles away, in New Boston, Texas, 21-year-old Reagan Simmons-Hancock had been found dead inside her home. In the early hours of March 11th, 2025, residents in a neighbourhood on the eastern edge of Belo Horizonte in Brazil, called the police after witnessing a woman and a young man, dragging what appeared to be a body into a nearby wooded area. When officers arrived, they found the remains of a man in a clearing. Partially burned. Mutilated. And with a trail of blood that led them away from the trees, back along the street, and straight to the front door of a house nearby. They knocked. At the door stood forty-two-year-old Erica Pereira da Silveira Vicente. She did not run. She did not deny what had happened. Instead, she handed police the knife and told them exactly what she had done. But then she told them why.And one year later, in a courtroom, seven jurors listened to the full story. They heard the evidence, heard Erica's confession, and heard what she said had happened before the killing. Then, they found her not guilty, and the next day she walked out of prison a free woman. This is the case of Erica Pereira da Silveira Vicente… and the question of how far a mother will go to protect her child.=============================================📩 For business inquiries: ellimacproductions@gmail.com=============================================📚 Sources for this episode: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yghACV7nKx6v1BiDrFiLVlg3Hi-zg8Ge/view?usp=share_link

He Gave His Wife 15 Minutes To Save Her Children

When a 999 call came in at 8:22pm on the evening of May 14, 2018, the man on the other end, his voice shaking, told the operator that he had just returned home to find his house had been broken into and his wife had been attacked.Inside, he said he had found her lying on the living room floor, bound in duct tape and unconscious, as the operator immediately began asking questions, trying to establish whether she was still breathing, who he was, and who his wife was.As Mitesh struggled to remove the duct tape from her body, his breathing became heavier and more panicked, and while the operator quickly called for an ambulance and assured him it was on its way, he also tried to keep him calm, continuing to gather information about what had happened inside the house and the condition his wife was in.But as the call went on, his performance intensified. He became increasingly breathless, at one point begging the operator to contact his father. The operator kept him talking, asking questions, gathering details. Mitesh obliged — painting a picture of their home life, their routine, his voice catching and breaking on cue.Eventually, he told the operator he had managed to remove the tape, continuing to repeat that someone had come into the house and tied her up, as the operator, sounding slightly uncertain, pressed him for more detail about how she had been found, prompting him to describe the scene in increasingly graphic detail.Towards the end of the call, with the ambulance now just moments away, Mitesh appeared to break down completely, sobbing and asking again for his father to be contacted, while the operator continued trying to reassure him, telling him help was almost there. But when paramedics arrived at the semi-detached Victorian house on The Avenue in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, they found 34 year old Jessica Patel lying on the living room floor.Devastatingly, she was already dead. Why had he done this? Why had a man taken the life of his own wife in such a brutal, calculated way — a woman who had loved him, supported him, and spent years trying to give him the family she had always dreamed of?=============================================📩 For business inquiries: ellimacproductions@gmail.com=============================================📚 Sources for this episode: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AYJOCstdMj6HhLEEvVl0DiRW_vZun322/view?usp=sharing

The Crazy 911 Confession Of 17-Year-Old Jake Evans

When 85-year-old William and 63-year-old Patricia Wycherley vanished from their home in the quiet village of Mansfield, no one seemed to notice or question their disappearance. Their bills were being paid on time, the house appeared to be looked after, and their family continued to receive postcards signed by the couple, which assured everyone they were alive and well.Fifteen years passed without any suspicion, and eventually, the Wycherleys’ house at 2 Blenheim Close was sold to a new family, who moved in unaware of the secrets hidden beneath their feet.It wasn’t until William Wycherley’s 100th birthday that questions began to surface. When an attempt was made to organize a congratulatory telegram from the Queen—a tradition for centenarians in the UK—there was no response from William. This prompted further investigation into the couple’s whereabouts, leading to the shocking revelation that the Wycherleys had never left their home.Their bodies had been buried in their own back garden, where they remained hidden for over a decade and a half.Who had murdered this elderly couple? And who was pretending to be them, sending letters out to loved ones, saying they were alive and well?

Buried in Their Own Garden: The Wycherley Murders

This is a difficult case to tell. To protect the victims, no names are used, and some identifying details are withheld. Even so, it is important to tell this story carefully and truthfully, because what happened did not occur in isolation. This case exposed profound failures across child protection, healthcare, and safeguarding systems—and led to significant changes in how such cases are now handled. In its aftermath, multiple independent inquiries were launched to examine how authorities missed years of warning signs. The case became known as the Sheffield case, and was widely labelled by the media as the “British Fritzl.” The comparison was drawn to the Austrian case of Josef Fritzl, which had come to light only months earlier and shocked the world. In that case, it was revealed that Fritzl had held his own daughter, Elisabeth, captive for 24 years, resulting in the birth of seven children. The Fritzl case revealed unimaginable abuse hidden behind the façade of an ordinary family home, forcing the public to confront the reality that extreme harm can exist undetected for decades. The similarities prompted outrage, disbelief, and urgent questions: how could something like this happen again—here, in the UK?At the centre of this case was the conviction of a 54-year-old Englishman. For more than 25 years, he evaded detection by authorities. He fathered seven surviving children. What makes this case particularly harrowing is not only the scale of the abuse but the number of times it could have been stopped. This is the story of how it wasn’t.

When a chilling 911 call came in at 11:34 AM on Christmas Day in 2011, it immediately set off alarm bells for the Grapevine, Texas police.
The voice on the other end was faint, muttering what sounded like “Help me, help me” before the line went dead. Concerned for the welfare of whoever was inside, officers were dispatched to the home where the call originated.
When officers arrived at the apartment, they were met with an eerie silence after their knocking yielded no response.
When they forced the door open, they were unprepared for the horrifying scene awaiting them.
Inside the living room, surrounded by Christmas presents and torn wrapping paper, lay the bodies of seven people, all shot to death.
The victims, all family members, ranged in age from teenagers to seniors. This was no random act of violence — it was a massacre.
But who were these victims? And what kind of darkness could drive someone to commit such an unspeakable act on Christmas Day?

The Father Who Wiped Out His Family On Christmas Day

On Christmas Eve in 2013, 18-year-old Alexis Valdez was simmering with anger.
Six months earlier, he had moved into his aunt’s basement apartment on North Kildare Avenue in Chicago, sharing the home with her and her boyfriend, 41-year-old Sylvester Diaz-Hernandez.
The arrangement came with clear expectations: Alexis was to go to school, work, and contribute to household expenses. But Alexis had quickly abandoned these responsibilities, igniting tensions that escalated into frequent arguments.
By December, his aunt and Sylvester had reached their limit, and they told Alexis he had to move out. This ultimatum sent him into a rage.
His fury boiled over on Christmas Eve, leading him to commit an unspeakable act of violence. What Alexis did that night would not only shock his family but also leave a community horrified and searching for answers.
In his twisted mind, he believed his actions would serve as the ultimate message — a horrific “present” for his aunt to discover on Christmas Day.

"The power it gave me was amazing. I have severe mental health issues. I need to go to Carstairs (psychiatric hospital). We've been friends for ages, but this has been coming for ages."
