The Quinn Files

The Quinn Files traces the rise, fall and alleged government cover-up behind Sean Quinn's business empire. Hosted by Sammy Heaney, the podcast digs into the decisions, the fallout and the questions that still haven't been answered.

Seán Quinn

In this episode, Sean Quinn breaks down the 2% insurance levy, the appointment of Matthew Elderfield, and the case he says was never there for putting Quinn Insurance into administration — backed, he argues, by the Central Bank's own figures. From there, the conversation turns personal: listener questions sent in via Snapchat cover his current net worth, whether he'd ever start again, who he trusts, and what life looks like now — cards, walks, family, and no regrets.Timestamps:00:00 – The 2% insurance levy explained — and why it's wrongly called the "Quinn Levy"01:08 – Kevin Cardiff, Matthew Elderfield, and the case for administration03:04 – Grant Thornton and the "fox in the henhouse"05:47 – The illegal share support scheme and the Liberty Insurance deal09:16 – How Quinn Insurance really worked — customer-first claims handling14:32 – The fallout: mass layoffs and service decline post-administration15:20 – Who's really responsible for the 2% levy?18:01 – Listener questions from Snapchat begin19:45 – Sean's net worth today20:09 – Could he start again from scratch?21:33 – Trusting the wrong team — the advisers question23:39 – If Sean could turn back the clock25:32 – The Anglo shares, the bank bailouts, and the dark years28:40 – Advice to young entrepreneurs on honesty31:09 – Life after the Quinn Group — cards, walks, and family time32:35 – "I'll die poor, but I won't die sad"33:48 – Was the government afraid of Sean Quinn?36:46 – What if Anglo had never happened?38:28 – Closing thoughts

"I Lost €660 Million. I Made €800 Million." Seán Quinn Answers Your Questions | The Quinn Files EP4

This one goes somewhere different. Seán talks about actually walking into prison in 2012, what those weeks inside were like, and coming home to try and rebuild. Then it gets into what happened in 2014 when he was given a shot at getting back involved in the business — and how that fell apart too, with a 141-page document he says was written specifically to keep his family out for good. He names names, talks about money he says was stolen from the company, the letters he sent to the Gardaí that went nowhere, and doesn't dodge the harder questions either — including about the Kevin Lunney abduction and whether he's just an old man who lost and won't accept it.Straight answers, no filter.
