The Right Side Of The Pond: The Brock Lesnar Disaster and MITB Fall Out

WWE could not have found an easier way to annoy Mav, Maz and 'Plan if they tried than forcing Brock Lesnar back into their lives, so they spend the first half of this week's show bemoaning the return of the Beast. They then have a look at where the shotgun booking might be going, before switching gears to praise the AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins match, have a debate about the night the women's division had, and think about what would constitute a breaking point for their WWE fandom.

Sports Entertainment is Dead - Money in the Bank 2019 Performance Art Review

In this week's edition of Sports Entertainment is Dead, ‘Plan presents the traditional Performance Art Review of this last Sunday's biggest pay per view – Money in the Bank 2019! Refusing to cover the malignant main event and its horrible conclusion, ‘Plan instead focuses first on the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladders Match that opened the show, specifically as a piece of genre wrestling. He then moves onto the shared universe storytelling of Becky Lynch’s night and wraps up with a look at the sublimely wrestled and nostalgically styled Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles encounter.     Theme Song: Max Flashback   Artist: Lee Rosevere   Album: Music for Podcasts

Kingdom of Honor--Homecoming 2019 and final Double or Nothing thoughts

Impact Wrestling returned to The Asylum in Nashville Wrestle Kingdom weekend, but due to the company's PPV model, the guys are just getting around to covering it.  The Lucha Bros took on LAX, the vacant X-Division title was decided in an Ultimate X match, Taya Valkyrie and Tessa Blanchard battled it out for the Knockouts Championship, and in the main event Johnny Impact defended against Brian Cage.  The guys also watched EVOLVE 127, so will discuss that, as well.  Plus, All Elite Wrestling have their first official event, Double or Nothing, this coming Saturday.  What are the guys' final thoughts on it?

The Doc Says...Rapid Fire WWE Money in the Bank, AEW Double or Nothing Previews

This week, The Doc is primed and ready for an intriguing WWE Money in the Bank card.  Rollins vs. Styles and Owens vs. Kofi provide an excellent one-two punch of title matches, with the signature gimmick bouts providing back-up; the rest of the card has filled out nicely, as well, with plenty of depth to further the reputation of Money in the Bank as the defacto fifth pay-per-view in a "Big 5."  Doc offers a quick-hitting but still densely packed preview ahead of tonight's event.  Then, he transitions to talking about All Elite Wrestling's first show coming up next Saturady.  Double or Nothing comes with tremendous enthusiasm and high expectations.  What does Doc want out of it besides great wrestling matches?

The Right Side Of The Pond: Money In The Bank Preview

This week, 'Plan and Mav have a look at this weekend's Money In The Bank pay-per-view in the light of one of the poorest months of creative in recent memory. The boys begin by going into their thoughts on why the television has been so bad, and what they make of reports surrounding Vince's increasingly bizarre handling of creative. They then look match by match at the card for Sunday, pick some winners, and talk about some of their issues with the booking and writing of the show.

Kingdom of Honor--Wildcard Edition

There are no big events this week, nothing absolutely shaking the wrestling world apart, and the guys didn't plan anything in particular, but that doesn't mean they can't bullshit about professional wrestling for a couple of hours.  The Best of the Super Juniors is underway, Ring of Honor and NJPW also just finished up the War of the Worlds tour, and supposedly an announcement is coming on Wednesday regarding All Elite Wrestling's television home and viewing options for Double or Nothing.  On a show that Jeff has constantly accused of being ADD, this will likely be the most ADD of them all.

The Doc Says...Pitching WWE Storyline Ideas Utilizing the Natural Drama of Sport

This week, The Doc is joined by 2018 LOP Columnist of the Year, Sir Sam, for the Sunday Wrestling Conversation.  Sir Sam, borrowing an idea from LOP Columns legend, Prime Time, suggested that they look to their favorite sports to find possible WWE storyline opportunities largely unutilized in sports entertainment lore.  The Doc, for instance, looks to his spring-time obsession with playoff basketball for one of his ideas, which frankly would allow the often laborious stretch between post-WrestleMania and the start of Summerslam Season to engage the audience with matches that matter across television and PPV.  Sam counters with an idea that would send John Cena's legendary status to a different level, particularly with diehard wrestling fans who have often been repulsed by the concept of him breaking Ric Flair's World Title record.  It is a fun, spirited, and rather timely chat by The Doc and Sir Sam given the events of the week that brought us "The Wildcard Rule" for Raw and Smackdown, and they hope you'll join in on the discussion using social media.

Sports Entertainment is Dead - WWE Characters to Cut and Push

In this week's edition of Sports Entertainment is Dead, ‘Plan discusses the issue of WWE’s overloaded raft of characters in the event rumours of the Brand Extension ending prove true!   With news that both USA and FOX are pushing for an end to the Brand Extension in the wake of dismal ratings, ‘Plan sits down and takes a look at the fact that WWE is overloaded with characters that will need rearranging should a single-roster system take hold once more. He starts by listing the three characters that would be first in line for cutting should the Extension come to an end, before going on to look at three he believes should be developed further and allowed a more central position in the same scenario.     Theme Song: Max Flashback   Artist: Lee Rosevere   Album: Music for Podcasts

The Doc Says...Visiting a Couple of Old "Friends," Plus WWE Money in the Bank

This week, The Doc is continuing his enjoyment of the overall health of the professional wrestling industry.  He attended the NWA/ROH collaborative Crockett Cup last weekend and shares with you today his thoughts on the show's presentation and general vibe.  His attention then turns to last year, when Impact Wrestling bounced back from a hugely disappointing 2017 to gain back a lot of the good will it had lost; Doc gives his impression of the year that was for Impact in 2018.  Finally, Styles vs. Rollins for the Universal Championship gets a spotlight, as does the Money in the Bank card in general and the recent heel turn of Kevin Owens to set-up a WWE Title bout against Kofi Kingston.

The Right Side Of The Pond: Money In The Bank vs King Of The Ring

With Money In The Bank just over a week away, Maz and Mav delve into the idea of there being a "big five" pay-per-views, with Money In The Bank arguably having assumed that "fifth major" status over the past nine years. The boys look back through the history of the show and the legacy of some of its greatest matches and moments, before switching gears to look at the event which was its equivalent in the 90s: King Of The Ring. Expect to hear discussion of why those shows are so fondly remembered, and why WWE would be well served to bring it back to the modern day audience. As ever, the discussion is lively and filled with mirth!

Kingdom of Honor--Battle Riot II and The Crockett Cup

It seems like every wrestling organization on the planet was having a major show in the New York/New Jersey area G1 Supercard weekend.  Everyone except All Elite Wrestling, of course.  The guys covered nXt and G1 Supercard last time around and this time they will dig into Major League Wrestling's Battle Riot II, as well as their previous big show, Intimidation Games.  Plus, the National Wrestling Alliance is still alive...kinda...and put on a joint show with Ring of Honor this past weekend, reviving the Crockett Cup to crown new NWA Tag Champions and all of their other titles were on the line, as well, including Marty Scurll trying to wrestle the NWA World's Heavyweight Championship away from the completely mediocre Nick Aldis.  The guys will discuss that, as well.

The Doc Says...The WWE Decade in Review - 2010: A Tough Transition Year

This week, The Doc is in a reflective mood.  The decade is fast coming to a close and it has been one of the most important of Doc's life.  As per usual, he is struggling to extract the WWE decade from his overall life, so to the pod he has gone with the intent of fully contextualizing how we have reached this current point in pro wrestling history.  Today begins a ten part journey that will conclude at the end of the year.  2010 goes under the bright lights first, and Doc finds it very interesting how the WWE decade began with a massive departure of all-time great wrestlers from the active roster and a consequent scramble to try and fill the various levels of void.  Past topics written and spoken about such as the Lost Generations of WWE headliners come back to the forefront and the stage gets set for what happened later while also celebrating the many achievements of the decade's first year.

In this week's edition of Sports Entertainment is Dead, it's Dean Ambrose week! 'Plan takes the opportunity to sit down and wax lyrical about the now recently departed Lunatic Fringe. 'Plan looks back, first of all, on the tragic but inspiring nature of Ambrose's character, one of the most fully formed but subtly presented (yeah, really!) in all of WWE lore. From there, it's time to reminisce about some classic Ambrose and Ambrose-centric matches from over the years. They converse at length about their temperature readings on All Elite Wrestling ahead of their first show next month, Double or Nothing, and bring up several unique talking points along with a name dropped that could be a game-changer, however unlikely his presence may be.  Finally, conversation turns to the Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan match at WrestleMania 35, which Doc was not ready to stop talking about after a recent replay made him wonder, "Just how high up would I place that match in WrestleMania history?"

The Doc Says...The WrestleMania Weekend Top 10 Matches and Moments

This week, The Doc summarizes the experience that was the most recent WrestleMania weekend with a look back at his Top 10 matches and moments.  The WWE Hall of Fame got a bit of mention on account of one particularly memorable induction speech, NXT Takeover: New York quite frankly dominated with perhaps its all-time greatest card, and WrestleMania certainly delivered enough feel good moments to earn plenty of love too.  While Doc was not over the moon about The Show of Shows, he acknowledges that it offered some frefreshing big picture decision-making.  So, what made the list?  Check it out in this neat and tidy WrestleMania Weekend recap. Also, it's the finals of the March Mayhem tournament to crown the best wrestler in the enitre world.  Top overall seed, Kenny Omega, battles the 2nd seed from the Blackheart regional, Seth Rollins.

LOPR AfterShock: WWE WrestleMania 35

It was a night of historic proportions. For the first time ever, the biggest show in pro wrestling was headlined by women as Rhonda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch went at it in a triple threat with everything on the line. That's just the tip of the iceberg, though, as The Granddaddy of Them All brought us multiple title matches, the return of The Animal and very likely a few surprises to top it all off, not to mention one of the greatest feelgood moment in recent years as Kofi Kingston went to battle against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship.  Join your hosts, Samuel Plan and Steven Bell, here on AfterShock as they break down all the happenings from the big show from top to bottom and everything in between!

The Doc Says...Quick-Hitting, 30-Minute WrestleMania 35 Preview

This week, The Doc has put together a rapid fire WrestleMania 35 preview for you, focusing on the key themes that will shape the success of tonight's historic show.  It is the biggest night in wrestling and the card features several match-ups that resonate on a deeper level with the diehard audience than has become customary in recent years.  The Universal Title, WWE Championship, and Women's Title bouts all feel like must-wins for the protagonists, but there are plenty of other matches that could also offer satisfying run-times and "moments."  WWE needs to have an exemplary night, regardless of how many hours of our attention that they demand; no Big 4 pay-per-view in the "more is more" era of overly long shows has been able to join the pantheon of classic special events, so WWE needs to prove that this style can equal the success of past shows or risk losing diehard fans who are tiring of the age of excess.  The potential is there...can they maximize it?  Doc covers a lot of ground to help set the stage for answering that question and many others.

Kingdom of Honor--Wrestling on Holy Ground

This coming Friday will be the first time in nearly six decades that a non-WWF/WWE show will be held in the Mecca of Professional Wrestling, Madison Square Garden.  While there was never a guarantee, there is no question that this show was sold on the backs of guys that are no longer wrestling for New Japan and Ring of Honor.  Kenny Omega, Nick and Matt Jackson, Cody Rhodes, and Hangman Page are now with a well-backed, but fledgling organization while their former home companies are hosting the biggest show in their existence.  Yes, NJPW has run shows in front of very large crowds at the Tokyo Dome, this is the first time they are front and center on a national stage.  You don't run a show at MSG--on Wrestlemania Weekend, no less--without it being shots fired on WWE.  So, how did they do putting together the card and how excited are the guys to see it? The guys will also preview nXt Takeover New York, which already had its legs cut out from under it a bit, but still has an incredible lineup of matches the guys can't wait to see.  This will be a jampacked show about jampacked shows, so don't miss it!

The Doc Says...The Sunday Wrestling Conversation (w/ J Cool, LOP's NXT guru)

This week, it's the Sunday Wrestling Conversation, and on this occasion The Doc is joined by LOP's long-running recapper of NXT's weekly Network show and writer of the Cool Points rankings columns dedicated to the yellow brand, a good friend of the program, J Cool.  Much has happened in NXT since the last time JC and Doc had a conversation on this podcast ahead of Takeover: Brooklyn IV.  NXT is heading back to New York next weekend; what to make of the latest Takeover card is certainly at the forefront of the discussion today, but they also tackle such topics as the main roster call-up process and whether or not a change is coming to off-set the generally poor transitions initiated by WWE proper in the last two or so years.  The conversation seems destined to dovetail into many asides, so join Doc and JC and listen to how it all plays out!

This week, 'Plan and Mav conclude their mini series on the best WWE matches of the decade by looking at the 2017-2019 period. Although a creative down time for WWE, there are a surprising amount of quality PPV matches to discuss, including those that formed the renaissance of the Intercontinental Title, a Wrestlemania Kingslaying, a fatal five way, some forgotten midcard gems, and some Shield classics at Summerslam, Survivor Series, and Fast Lane. As always, there are diversions and japes aplenty!

The Doc Says...Edge's Incredible WrestleMania Legacy; Seth Rollins Can Equal It

This week, the upcoming challenge for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship by Seth Rollins is at the forefront of Doc's mind.  As a big fan of the Architect, he is of course hopeful that a run with the big red belt will begin for Rollins at WrestleMania, but his more dominating thoughts are of what a great match in such a high profile position against such a polarizing opponent could mean to the burgeoning WrestleMania legacy of the Beast Slayer.  Rollins has had a tremendous career already, and he has a resume on the grandest stage without peers among his contemporaries; win the title from Brock and do it in glorious fashion and words like "legendary" could start being used in reference to Seth more readily.  Also, Doc takes a trip down Memory Lane to talk about one of his all-time favorites, Edge, whose own WrestleMania legacy Doc finds to be underrated in its upper echelon status.

Sports Entertainment is Dead - Introducing the WrestleMania Tetralogy (Pt. 1)

It's a special feature length edition of Sports Entertainment is Dead this week, as 'Plan sits down to provide part one of his performance art view on what he likes to call “The WrestleMania Tetralogy” - The Undertaker's matches against Shawn Michaels and Triple H at WrestleManias 25 through XXVIII. In this first part, 'Plan explains his view on the Tetralogy itself – a four-part overarching story spanning four editions of The Showcase of Immortals. Then, watch the matches along with 'Plan in real time as he revisits first the legendary encounter between Mr WrestleMania and The Streak at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania and, latterly, the epic Career vs. Streak rematch from WrestleMania XXVI – all the while, 'Plan running down his interpretation of how the two matches connect, lead into their sequels in following years and contain symbolism, subtext, character arcs and more, not just in bell to bell time but in all the window dressing too. Then, next week, it's the same all over again, albeit with the two sequels wrestled between the Dead Man and The Game, Triple H! If you're a fan of either or both of the two Michaels / 'Taker matches at 'Mania, you won't want to miss this one!     Theme Song: Max Flashback   Artist: Lee Rosevere   Album: Music for Podcasts

The Doc Says...The Sunday Wrestling Conversation, with Rich Latta

This week, The Doc debuts a new monthly tradition called "The Sunday Wrestling Conversation," during which a guest will join him for near hour-long hearty chat about pro wrestling.  Fittingly, he is joined on this maiden voyage by long-time friend of the program, Rich Latta.  They tackle such topics as what makes New Japan Pro Wrestling such an attractive organization for diehard wrestling fans; it was Rich who most strongly and consistently advocated that Doc direct his jadedness toward WWE at NJPW, and it took Doc little time at all, once committing to New Japan World, to see that their presentation was just what the doctor ordered to heal his wrestling fandom.  For the first time, Doc talks at length about a promotion besides WWE on his podcast; he and Rich discuss NJPW in the post-"Kenny Omega is a Top 3 New Japan star" world and the rise of Jay White.  Also, the dynamic duo dive into the topic of wrestler empowerment and a movement within the industry for wrestlers to take greater control of their destinies, mirroring the kind of movement that has given players so much more control in the NBA.

Kingdom of Honor--Bound For Glory 2018

As we have complained about before, it takes months for Impact to add their PPVs onto their Global Wrestling Network streaming service and they charge $40 per event when they first air live.  Charging that much for a PPV has been outdated since February of 2014, when WWE Network launched.  So, here it is 4 1/2 months later and Shane and Jeff are finally reviewing their October 14 effort, Bound For Glory.  Was it as good as Slammiversary?  What do they think of Austin Aries' actions after he laid down for Johnny Impact to crown a new World Champion? Also, this coming Wednesday is New Japan Pro Wrestling's 47th Anniversary Show and two days later the New Japan Cup starts.  The guys will preview both in this jam-packed episode. @Reejecoap @XanManLOP Facebook.com/Kingdom of Honor

The Doc Says...Rejuvenated, Revitalized, and Ready to Return (plus March Mayhem)

The Doc Says is back.  When you last heard from him, his pro wrestling fandom was on life support, but these past five months have rejuvenated him; the break provided an opportunity to get away from the toxic week-to-week WWE viewing habits that had come to define his podcasting and column writing routine for years, and the result was the opportunity to see what the rest of the wrestling world had to offer - and, ladies and gentlemen, was it ever refreshing.  Lucha Underground...New Japan Pro Wrestling...revamped WWE habits with a particular focus on watching the interesting stuff and ignoring the rest...deep diving NXT Takeover history...basically, folks, it was a period of Doc getting back to being Doc.  This week, he explains the aim of his return and the definite major purpose of The Doc Says podcast moving forward.  Long-time followers of Doc's work across multiple platforms may recall his enjoyment in mixing his other passions in with his pro wrestling interest, which leads into an introduction on today's show of MARCH MAYHEM, a 65-man tournament to crown the Best Wrestler in the World, March Madness style!  Doc assembled a committee to create the bracket, the seedings and match-ups for which will be revealed during the show (and in visual form later today on Twitter).

The Right Side Of The Pond: Elimination Chamber Fall Out

This week, Mav and 'Plan look over the creative direction of WWE in the aftermath of Elimination Chamber; it was another case of one step forwards and two steps back, as the company delivered an excellent, well thought out pay-per-view only to follow up with two bizarre episodes of television including ice cold introductions to the main roster for four of NXT's brightest stars. The boys ponder the state of the writing and the creative process of WWE (be warned- ranting!) before having a think about the Road to Wrestlemania in a little more detail, including where the Smackdown title picture might be headed, and whether (gulp) more part timers might be coming out of the woodwork.

Sports Entertainment is Dead - Examining the Royal Rumble Genre

In this week's edition, ‘Plan sits down and begins an in-depth exploration of the way in which the Royal Rumble Match has evolved from a novelty match in 1988 to one of the most important and fun matches of every given WWE year in 2018, all by inspecting the five most important and inherent tropes of the Rumble when seen as a performance art genre. Over the course of the hour, ‘Plan opens up about his views on the Iron Man Runs of Rumble lore, the Favourites to win and the two key types of performance they often offer up, how it is that the Past Meets Present sometimes effectively but with increasing toxicity as the years have gone by, how important the core conceit of Every Man For Himself is and why 1992’s addition of tangible stakes mattered so much and, finally, the effectiveness of the Final Passage of any given Rumble bout’s conclusion – all of this to better understand what makes for a great Rumble, a poor Rumble and everything in between over the course of its long and varied history!       Theme Song: Max Flashback   Artist: Lee Rosevere   Album: Music for Podcasts

There will also be analysis of the double main event of Survivor Series, a discussion about Rollins and Nakamura, and some quick takes on Takeover!

The Doc Says...Farewell to LOP Radio (And Thank You for the Memories)

This week, for the final time, The Doc takes to the LOP Radio airwaves to say goodbye.  His abrupt early retirement from podcasting was stimulated by a lengthy series of WWE events, with Brock Lesnar's return at Hell in a Cell the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.  The main reason for today's show is simply to say goodbye and to thank a lot of peope who made hosting nearly 300 podcasts these past five and a quarter years so special to him and his experience as "The Doc" Chad Matthews, but there will be a lot of storytelling along the way as well as a lengthy "Ask The Doc" Q&A.  Thank you so much, ladies and gentlemen, for making this show a part of your lives over the years; I think you'll find this a fitting last episode.

Mostly just having fun and doing silly voices, though. The theme of this episode is, as you may have seen in the title, Binge and Purge. What does that mean, exactly? Well, in the first part of the show we discussed the binge of WWE events going down in and around October this year and how hyping them all may be underserving the others. Part of that is a discussion on the international market and how the presentation of shows like Super Show-Down as something that looks good on paper but ultimately plays out as a glorfied house show may eventually start to result in diminishing returns. The second half of the show is a bit more personal, with a purge of in general life stuff going on at the moment and how pro wrestling plays its part in it. A heavy part of that discussion is how something as trivial as WWE or wrestling may ultimately mean a lot to someone in a given situation, and why we should all perhaps try to be a big more kind to our fellow fans out there. A bit of variety this time around, but that's the way it's always been. Hopefully you enjoy it

The most prolific battleground in WWE returns as the Hell In A Cell PPV comes our way with plenty of grudges set to be settled inside the structure! What sort of chaos will Jeff Hardy bring to the Cell as he enters it for the first time in his effort to gain revenge on the diabolical Randy Orton? Will Becky Lynch be able to overcome her former best friend, Charlotte, to finally get her hands on the Smackdown Women's Championship? Can the dominant team of Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler maintain said dominance and their Tag Team gold when they step into the ring with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins? Can Ronda Rousey maintain her own dominant streak and knock off the persistent and cagey Alexa Bliss? And what will happen when the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, finally gets his hands on Roman Reigns inside the Cell with the Universal Championship on the line? We'll have the answers to those questions and more when LOP Radio's Aftershock hits the air shortly after the PPV ends! The Doc Says...Competition the Name of the Game at WWE Hell in a Cell

This week, The Doc excitedly previews Hell in a Cell, his first honest to goodness preview podcast to be labeled with a term like "excitedly" since WrestleMania.  Bottom line: he is digging what WWE is doing right now and finds the product far more engaging today than he has in much longer than several months, if he is being honest.  A four to five match competition for Match of the Night fueled by more interesting television has Doc feeling good about this pay-per-view's potential.  So, if you need some enthusiasm in your life, this podcast will do your wrestling fandom some good.  Also, Doc explores WWE's recent trend of promoting three separate special events on Raw each week, with a great deal of focus of course on Hell in a Cell, but prominently ensuring that nobody ignores Super Showdown or Evolution.

The Doc Says...#ALLIN and Its Meaning, Strowman-Shield Controversy, WWE Top 10

This week, The Doc is #ALLIN, which is to say that he is in a reflective mood following the success of arguably the biggest independent wrestling experiment in professional wrestling history; it was a big deal, and it deserves our attention.  Also on Doc's mind is the character dichotomy developing between Braun Strowman and The Shield; is this a clear cut case of WWE making everything about Roman Reigns or is this a better example of WWE putting its trust in the modern era and giving it the chance to figure things out at the main-event level after a part-timer dominated 18 months?  Finally, Doc ends his annual tradition of naming the Top 10 WWE stars of the Summerslam-to-Summerslam cycle using his WrestleMania Era-inspired formula.  Who made the cut?  Who topped the list?

This week, The Doc is joined by LOP and One Nation Radio's Rich Latta to discuss and review NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV and Summerslam 2018, as well as the latter's immediate aftermath.  The reception to the show has been mixed, which depending on your perspective could mean that it exceeded or missed the mark of expectations.  Doc was fairly pleased, though he still acknowledges some of the show's fundamental flaws worked against him being overwhelmingly positive about it.  Rich?  Well, we'll see.  Dave Fenichel, The Eternal Optimist, will likely join toward the end to put his usual happy spin on things.  It is sure to be a very fun conversation!

The Doc Says...Summerslam Weekend is Loaded, In Spite of its Main-Event

This week, The Doc is feeling pretty good about the world of professional wrestling!  Yes, seriously.  After a weekend spent reconnecting with his purer fandom of sports entertainment, he is ready for Summerslam, in spite of its borderline intelligence-insulting main-event.  There are a lot of good things to like about this Big 4 weekend, thanks as usual to the influx of potential weekend-stealers from our friends down in NXT.  LOP's resident NXT guru, J Cool, joins the first half of the show for a spirited discussion about Takeover: Brooklyn IV, and then Doc flies solo for his rundown of the Summerslam card, about which he asks and answers some intriguing questions, including but limited to whether or not Bryan vs. Miz will go down as an all-time Summerslam classic.

The Right Side of the Pond - SummerSlam 2018 Preview - Raw Side

On this week's show Mazza, Maverick and Plan are here to look ahead to the red half of the SummerSlam card.  It's not an easy task for the guys to get excited for much Raw is doing right now however they do try to find a couple of bright spots on the horizon that is dominated by an absent champion and a fan-rejected challenger.  Will Brock finally drop the title?  Will Roman finally win the title.  And what about the ridiculously named Monster in the Bank and everybody else who may or may not deserve to be getting more shine right now.  Stay tuned for plenty of rants from UK.

The Doc Says...Real Life Redemption in Wrestling (Plus, Summerslam Thoughts)

This week, The Doc is joined by Jordan Fox of The Chair Shot and Indy Wrestling Radio to discuss the Summerslam card, specifically how the current build compares to past Summer Classics, the possibilities of a Money in the Bank cash-in, and the ramifications of Charlotte Flair on the Smackdown Women's Title match.  That conversation takes place in the second half of the show.  In the first half, Jordan tells the story of his opioid addiction and how his sobriety has been reinforced by chasing his dream of being in the wrestling business.  Far too often, especially as of late, wrestling brings us together to gripe about the WWE product's deficiencies, but today is about letting one person's story with professional wrestling teach us (or at least remind us) of an important life lesson and encourage us to live life one day at a time.  Disclaimer - this episode may not be suitable for children; parental discretion is advised.
