ETs and Religion: How the belief in extraterrestrial life has influenced religions and inspired new ones. It is often said that if we found intelligent extraterrestrial life, religions would be devastated. However, most religions already discuss extraterrestrial life, and have for hundreds of years. In this presentation we discuss the many ways alien life has been addressed by the world’s major religions, and how they are currently dealing with this issue. We also look at studies which reveal insight into how religious leaders, those who participate in religion, and those who do not, might react when it is finally confirmed that intelligent extraterrestrial life exists. Finally, we look to the future and how the belief in extraterrestrial intelligence is inspiring the creation of new religions. This is a presentation by Alejandro Rojas. Robert Powell has a BS in Chemistry and is a former collegiate debater. He has 28 years’ experience in engineering management in the semiconductor industry. While working at Advanced Micro Devices he took numerous internal courses related to device physics, design of experiments, and statistical analysis. He helped Advanced Micro Devices develop its first flash memory technology that is used in today’s flash cards for cameras, PCs, video cameras, and other products. His experience includes managing a state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory and managing a Research and Development group that worked on nanotechnology using atomic force microscopes, near-field optical microscopy, and other techniques. Robert is also a co-holder of four patents related to nanotechnology. Robert Powell is a Board member of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU). He was the Director of Research at MUFON from 2007-2017 and created MUFON's Science Review Board in 2012. Robert is one of two authors of the detailed radar/witness report on the “Stephenville Lights” as well as the SCU reports "UAP: 2013 Aguadilla, Puerto Rico" and “A Forensic Analysis of Navy Carrier Strike Group Eleven’s Encounter with an Anomalous Aerial Vehicle”. Robert is also a member of the Society for Scientific Exploration, the UFODATA project, and the National Space Society. Robert is active with FOIA requests to various government organizations to obtain information on historical cases and is a co-author of a book published in July 2012: UFOs and Government: A Historical Inquiry. Prof. Knuth (http://knuthlab.org/) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University at Albany (SUNY) and is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Entropy (MDPI). He is a former NASA computer scientist having worked for four years at NASA Ames Research Center in the Intelligent Systems Division designing artificial intelligence algorithms for data analysis in both astrophysics and Earth science. He has 25 years of experience in applying Bayesian and maximum entropy methods to the design of machine learning algorithms for data analysis applied to the physical sciences. His current research interests include the search for and characterization of extrasolar planets, quantum information, signal processing, and autonomous robotics. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and has been invited to give over 80 presentations in 14 countries. Prof. Knuth is the Vice President of Science and Technology for UAPx (http://uapexpedition.org/) and a member of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU, https://www.explorescu.org/) where he is working to scientifically study UAPs. Steve McDaniel is a founder and lead software developer of Sky Hub. Sky Hub is a community of volunteers that is dedicated to developing UAP/UFO Tracking software that enables users to deploy Sky Hub Trackers to help research the UFO/UAP Phenomenon. Steve has over 20 years of technical experience over a wide range of industries. Seventeen plus years of experience includes software development, reverse engineering, windows/linux kernel development and developing highly distributed systems. Several years of experience using a variety of debugging tools, profiling tools, and software assurance tools. Spent 5 years in Naval Intelligence and total of 16 years in the Intelligence Community. Steve was also the one to discover the UAP report request by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in the Intelligence Authorization Act for 2021. We will discuss how McDaniel found this information and how it relates to his software driven search for UAP information. We’ll also get his observations and perspectives on recent UFO news.

Interview: Bryan Bender is a senior national correspondent for Politico, where he has also served as the defense and space editor. He was one of the journalists who, in December 2017, broke the news regarding a secretive UFO program in the Pentagon. Since then, Bryan has broken stories regarding the Navy updating its UFO reporting procedures, and UFO briefings held for congress. He was also one of the first in mainstream journalism to write about the latest breaking news that the Senate Intelligence Committee is requesting for more information regarding what the military and other agencies know about UFOs.

Colonel John Alexander has a history of researching UFOs and other fringe topics inside and outside of the military. John is a former Colonel in the United States Army, where he worked with Army Intelligence, as an Inspector General and as the Director of the US Army Advanced Concepts Lab. After leaving the army, John worked as the Program Manager for Non-Lethal Defense at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is now a prominent non-lethal weapons expert and consultant. John has had a lifelong interest in the paranormal. While in the army, he organized a group of fellow military and government officials with security clearances to look into UFO secrets. He also worked with Robert Bigelow to establish the National Institute for Discovery Sciences (NIDS) investigating paranormal phenomena, including the Skinwalker Ranch. Some of these exploits have made into UFO mythologies circulating in the UFO community. In December 2017 the New York Times dropped a bombshell report revealing the existence of a secret UFO research program within the Pentagon. The program is called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), and according to the recently retired head of the program, Luis Elizondo, the program is still in operation to this day. In this lecture, I outline the nature of this program, what they found, and their shocking conclusions. I also cover more recent revelations that this program began with a scope beyond UFOs and included much stranger paranormal phenomenon. Through personal interviews with those involved, I will share unique insights into the background of this real-life X-Files project you will not get anywhere else.

Sean Cahill was the Chief Master-at-Arms on the USS Princeton in 2004 during a multi-day UFO encounter. At the time, the Princeton was part of the Nimitz Carrier strike group. In November of 2004, the Nimitz Strike Group was conducting training exercises off the coast of San Diego when it picked up odd readings on radar. Eventually, an F-18 jet fighter was zeroed in to observe one of the objects and reported seeing a 40-foot long smooth, white object that looked like a TIC TAC. Later that day the object was caught on infrared video. In this interview, Sean discusses his experience being on board when the sightings occurred. He also shares his sighting at the time. Nick Pope worked for the British government’s Ministry of Defense (MoD) for nearly 20 years beginning in the mid-1980s. For several of those years, Nick staffed the UFO desk, investigating UFOs and handling press inquiries on the matter. Kevin Day is a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer who specialized in radar systems. He is a TOPGUN air intercept controller with more than 20 years experience in strike group air defense including war-time operations. In November of 2004, off the coast of San Diego, Kevin was a radar operator on the USS Princeton, part of the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group. Over several days unknown objects were observed on radar. On several occasions, aircraft were directed to find the objects. The pilots reported seeing 40 foot-long Tic Tac shaped objects that performed remarkable maneuvers beyond the capability of our aircraft. This incident was made famous in a New York Times article in December 2017 in which it was also revealed the Pentagon had a secretive UFO investigation program. Dr. Kevin Knuth is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University at Albany (SUNY), and is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Entropy (MDPI). He is a former NASA research scientist having worked for four years at NASA Ames Research Center in the Intelligent Systems Division designing artificial intelligence algorithms for astrophysical data analysis. His current research interests include the foundations of physics, quantum information, inference and inquiry, autonomous robotics, and the search for and characterization of extrasolar planets. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to give over 80 presentations in 14 countries. Kevin was also a recent presenter at the Anomalous Aerospace Phenomena Conference (AAPC) hosted by the Scientific Coalition for Ufology (SCU) held near the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Kevin’s talk was titled, “Constraints on Societies Engaged in Relativistic Interstellar Travel,” and covered the odd spacetime effects this sort of travel would entail. John Alexander is a retired Army Colonel who has been a critical figure in the field of non-lethal weapons and also played a role in U.S. Army Intelligence research in the paranormal. In the 1980s John put together a group of intelligence officials, members of all branches of the military and the defense aerospace industry to investigate UFO secrecy. His group was called the Advanced Theoretical Physics (ATP) project. In this episode, we discuss the similarities between John’s ATP and the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). Due to the attention the disclosure of the existence of AATIP has garnered, there is a resurgence of interest in the UFO topic in Washington D.C. David is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker and producer. He has also had a lifelong interest in UFOs. Like many of us, David was excited about the news that the Pentagon had a secret UFO project. He was also excited about the extraordinary UFO encounter that was also featured in the New York Times article that broke the Pentagon UFO news. The encounter involved the USS Nimitz carrier strike group and occurred in November 2004 near San Diego. During training exercises a white object described as looking like a Tic Tac was spotted, jets went in to get a closer look, and then things got weird. Some of the military personnel involved with the encounter have come forward since the NYT broke the story, including David Fravor, the lead pilot who got the closest look. As a filmmaker, David saw an opportunity to help tell the story by taking all of the details publicly available and recreating the encounter. Paul Hynek has worked in tech and entertainment and is currently a business consultant. Paul is also a former adjunct professor at Pepperdine University, and is presently a consultant for HISTORY’s new series Project Blue Book, based on a real project to investigate UFOs from 1952 to 1969. Paul is the son of Dr. J. Jeremy Corbell is an investigative filmmaker and runs the website ExtraordinaryBeleifs.com. Many of his projects, including his most recent, focus on the paranormal and UFOs. In September, Corbell released his film Hunt for the Skinwalker based off of the 2005 book of the same the same name. Much of this film included archival footage and reports from Las Vegas reporter George Knapp, who along with scientist Colm Kelleher, author the Skinwalker book. Calvin Parker was 19 years old in 1973 when he and his friend Charles Hickson witnessed a UFO while fishing in Pascagoula Mississippi. They reported seeing strange creatures that took them into the craft and examined them. Terrified, they went to the police. Their story leaked, and the incident made headlines. Hickson, 42 years old at the time, was a family friend who had just gotten Parker a job. However, Parker wanted nothing to do with the publicity they were receiving and left town. He rarely spoke of the incident until now. George Knapp is an award-winning investigative journalist and is currently Las Vegas Now's I-Team Chief Reporter.
