Kasey Keller - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose and former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Kasey Keller on this week's Last Word On Spurs show. Kasey Keller squeezed just about everything into a 22-year professional career. Over a century of caps and four World Cups for the USA, cutting his teeth at Millwall, glory days at Leicester, 83 consecutive starts at Spurs, the first American to play in La Liga and a title challenge with Rayo Valecano, only the second American to captain a Bundesliga side during his time at Borussia Monchengladbach before a hero's return home to Seattle, where he played until he was 41. He even lived in a castle during his time in Germany! As part of Martin O'Neill's golden spell at the old Filbert Street in the late 1990s, Kasey helped the Foxes lift their first trophy in 28 years - the League Cup in 1997 - and clinch three-successive top 10 finishes in the Premier League. He was also in goal for Leicester against is in the League Cup Final in 1999, won by Allan Nielsen's late, late diving header. Kasey later played in the final game at Filbert Street as a Spurs player in May, 2002 and then had a game he'll never forget in our first visit to the all-new Walkers Stadium, as it was then (now King Power Stadium) back in October, 2003. After two years in Spain with Rayo Vallecano, Keller returned to England with Tottenham in 2001. Signed as a back-up to Neil Sullivan, who at the time was the club’s player of the season, he took a while to establish himself at White Hart Lane and wasn’t helped by playing behind an often mediocre defence. Spurs fans retain grim memories of the 2003-04 season when Glenn Hoddle was sacked in September with the club in 17th place. Under caretaker David Pleat they stayed in the bottom half for almost the entire season and finished 14th. Through an unstable period, Keller was seen as sound and reliable, often making last-ditch blocks with legs and feet to bail out team-mates. At the age of 38 Keller finally made his MLS debut with Seattle Sounders where he stayed for the next two seasons before retiring. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS

Remembering Justin Edinburgh

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose and special guest to this week's podcast Charlie Edinburgh to celebrate the life of his Dad, Justin Edinburgh. Justin Edinburgh made 276 appearances for Spurs and won the 1991 FA Cup and 1999 League Cup during his playing days at White Hart Lane and became a decorated legend of the football club. Just weeks after leading Leyton Orient out at Wembley in the FA Trophy final and after guiding them to the National League title, he tragically passed away. This podcast is a celebration of Justin's life told through his son Charlie and the amazing work now starting to be put in place through The Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation, which is raising awareness around CPR & use of Defibrillators.  If you would like to donate or contribute to the foundation please see the links below: Donations: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/justinedinburgh3 Twitter: https://twitter.com/je3foundation Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/je3foundation Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/justin.edinburgh.3 #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #JE3FOUNDATION

Erik Edman - Special

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by John from LilyWhite Rose and former Spurs left-back Erik Edman on this week's edition of the Last Word On Spurs. When thinking about Erik Edman and his time at Tottenham Hotspur, there is just one moment that certainly stands out and with good reason. The former Sweden international may have only had one season at White Hart Lane, despite making himself a regular in the side, however, he certainly made himself memorable with those at the club. In April 2005, Edman hit a stunning strike from an extremely long distance, thought to be around 35 yards out, at Anfield against Liverpool that left Jerzy Dudek with no chance and saw the ball fly into the back of the net. The left-back, who in the music industry may be considered a one-hit wonder, certainly made his mark on Spurs, although his superb strike is not the only memorable one they have had when coming up against the Reds away from home. Despite Edman becoming a regular for Martin Jol’s side in his first season following his switch from Heerenveen, he decided to move on in the summer when Lee Young-Pyo was brought to the club. In truth, it probably would not have been a surprise as the Swede had a habit of moving from club to club after a season as prior to his move to the Premier League, he spent just two years at Helsingborgs IF in the first-team before one year spells at Torino, Karlsruher SC and AIK Athens and Heerenveen. He then appeared to settle down for a little while at Rennes after his Spurs move, staying with the French side for three years before returning to England with Wigan Athletic for a couple of seasons. Once his time there had come to an end, he returned to where it all started for him and finished his career with Helsingborgs in 2013, making 57 appearances for Sweden throughout his playing days. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS

David Howells - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and Tottenham Hotspur legend David Howells for this edition of the Last Word On Spurs. David came through the youth system and made his Spurs debut in 1986, scoring in a 2-1 victory against Sheffield Wednesday. He went on to play for the club 277 games and scoring 22 goals. David started his career as an attacking midfielder and matured into a holding midfielder. Teddy Sheringham once described David as a player`s player and was appreciated for his work rate more by his team mates than the fans in the stands. David would never pull out from anything where he might get hurt. I remember watching Spurs V Aston Villa just after the 1990 Italia world cup and scoring a header. Unfortunately, as a result of the challenge on David`s header, he ended up getting knocked out and ended up being carried off on a stretcher. Additional to his work rate, he was also had a bit of craft to his game. He could pass the ball well and every now and then he would produce a Hoddle type pass that would unlock the opposition defence. He made a massive contribution to us winning the 1991 FA cup and in many opinions he was the man of the match in the famous 1991 semi final against South London United. Although it was strongly touted at the time, David never went on to play for England. When Graham Taylor took over the England reigns many suggested that Howells would be one of players to win their first cap for England under the new regime. A few years later saw the dawn of the famous five under the stewardship of Ossie, It was the start of the 1994-95. Although we started playing some great attacking play we were somewhat very lightweight when it came to winning the battle in no mans land and as a result ended up losing a lot of games. Unfortunately, after only a couple of months into the season Ossie lost his job and Gerry Francis was replaced. During the exotic times of the famous five, David had been overlooked and one of the first changes that Francis made was to reinstate Howells in the midfield to add some steel. It made a massive difference and was one of the key factors to the successful start that Francis had made. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS

Tom Huddlestone - Special

Host Ricky Sacks and Jamie Brown from the Daily Hotspur had the pleasure of former Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone joining this week's Last Word On Spurs. Having signed from Derby County back in 2005, Tom Huddlestone proved himself to be an astute signing in his time at Tottenham. The midfielder ended up playing 209 times for Spurs, scoring 16 goals and providing a further 30 assists. A lot of Huddlestone’s goals weren’t your basic tap-ins or scruffy finishes. The four-cap England international had a penchant for scoring the spectacular, whether it was with his right or left foot. The midfielder gave Spurs fans a lot of memories with his long-range thunderbolts, and was of course part of the squad that featured in the Champions League Quarter-Finals during the 2010/2011 campaign. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

Johnnie Jackson - Special

Johnnie Jackson began his career at Premier League Tottenham Hotspur in 1999 before the player signed professional terms in 2000. The man who was born in Covent Garden ironically scored his only goal for Spurs in a 4-2 league win over Charlton in February 2004. Seven spells on loan at various clubs over a time period of eight years followed before the midfielder found his perfect match at Charlton in 2010. Johnnie signed for Charlton Athletic on a one-month loan to cover at left-back following an injury to Grant Basey before he joined Charlton permanently in July 2010 and was named the League One Player of the Month for November that year. He was appointed club captain for the 2011–12 campaign. In the same season, Johnnie scored 13 goals from left-midfield, two coming from free kicks in crucial 1–0 wins against both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United in quick succession as he led Charlton to the League One title. Promotion to the second tier of English football represented another challenge for Johnnie, but it was one he relished, scoring 12 goals and leading the team to an impressive 9th place finish back in the Championship.  Shortly after having his contract triggered for another 12 months at the end of the 2016-17 season, Jackson was appointed as new first-team assitnt coach alongside Lee Bowyer. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS

Dean Austin - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and former Spurs defender Dean Austin as we interviewed another former Spurs player from that crazy 90's period. It is fair to say that Dean Austin isn’t a household name but the former defender was an important member of Tottenham Hotspur’s defence in the mid-nineties. After leaving Spurs in 1998 due to the emergence of Stephen Carr, Austin spent four seasons at Crystal Palace before finishing his career in 2003 with non-league side Woking. Upon retiring from playing, Austin went straight into coaching and spent a year with the youngsters at Watford’s academy before joining Farnborough Town as the club’s director of football. He was in the job for a matter of weeks before he was asked to take over the team as manager just two weeks before the start of the season. Unfortunately during Austin’s time at the club they endured a number of off-the-field problems and he left in February 2005. However, he wasn’t out of work for long and joined his former side Southend United in July 2005 as a coach and the club’s head of recruitment. He enjoyed three successful years at Roots Hall, helping the side to two successive promotions before leaving to join Brendan Rodgers as his assistant manager at Watford. Austin was on his travels once again in 2009 when Rodgers left Watford to join Reading but this appointment was short-lived and the entire management team left six months later. He then spent a year back at former side Crystal Palace as first team coach and under 21 manager and then a year at Bolton Wanderers as a regional scout before a very brief spell at Notts County as Chris Kiwomya‘s assistant manager. In January 2015 Austin re-joined Watford as head coach Slavisa Jokanovic’s assistant coach where he played an important role in getting them promoted to the Premier League. He stayed on at the club when Jokanovic left and spent the 2015-16 season working with Quique Sanchez Flores. He left in May 2016 upon the appointment of Italian manager Walter Mazzarri who brought in his own Italian backroom staff to assist him. Austin made a return to football in September 2017 when he joined Northampton Town as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink‘s assistant manager and ended up taking over first-team affairs on a caretaker basis when the Dutchman was sacked. Although unable to save The Cobblers from relegation, the Northampton board appointed Austin as permanent manager for the 2018/19 season but his tenure was short-lived and he was sacked at the end of September after winning just one game. A year later he made a return to Watford for the fourth time when he linked up once again with Quique Sanchez Flores as his assistant manager. Unfortunately his time at Vicarage Road came to and end in December 2019 when Flores and his backroom staff were sacked. #THC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS

Pascal Chimbonda - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jamie from the Daily Hotspur as the Last Word On Spurs had the pleasure of welcoming former Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda onto the Last Word On Spurs. Described by one reputable news outlet in 2007 as ‘a Tottenham Hotspur player’, Pascal Chimbonda left his stamp all over the Premier League during the noughties. The fast and industrious right-back was bought by a number of managers between 2005 and 2011, and if you followed Premier League football during that period (particularly full backs) you are bound to know his name. In 2005, Paul Jewell brought Chimbonda to Wigan from Bastia, for a fee worth £500k. In today’s volatile transfer market, with clubs paying extortionate prices even for defenders, that number would probably be in the region of £600k.  In his first season in England, his performances for Wigan earned him a place in Raymond Domenech’s World Cup squad. At the tournament, his contribution involved sitting still on the bench as his French teammates went all the way to the final. If you pause it at the right moment, you can see the top corner of Chimbonda’s head on the screen as a disgraced Zinedine Zidane trudges off following that red card against Italy. By the end of the 2005/06 season, ‘Powerful Pascal’ had also attracted attention from some of England’s top clubs, including Tottenham. In wonderfully tactless style, he decided to play all 90 minutes of his last match for Wigan with a written transfer request stuffed down his sock, which he presented to Jewell in the dressing room immediately after the game. Chimbonda has a feeling this might be why the former Wigan boss has not made much of an effort to remain in contact. But he got his way, and after the World Cup completed his £4.5m switch to Spurs. He hit the ground running in North London, earning praise from his manager Martin Jol, and maintaining a spot in the starting eleven despite competition from a player called Stephen Kelly. Spells at Sunderland, Blackburn and QPR followed for this Premier League classic, and it says a lot for Chimbonda’s undoubted ability that so many clubs continued to add him to their ranks.  #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

Ramon Vega - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose as we welcomed former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ramon Vega onto the Last Word On Spurs to talk about his career. Born to Spanish immigrants in the small town of Olten, around 66km west of Zurich in June 1971, Vega studied at degree level in banking and finance at the Zürich Business School after spending his formative years at school in Trimbach. Still, despite clearly being an academic, it was his athletic ability that would take precedence during his early life. Making his way through the youth ranks with Grasshopper Club Zürich, Vega became a first-team regular, as well as a frequent member of the Swiss international side under Roy Hodgson by the age 22. Beginning his professional club career back in 1989, it was in his second season with Grasshoppers that he became a lynchpin in their backline. Winning three titles with the club, he played 67 league games in the 1994-95 and 1995-96 campaigns as GC made it consecutive title wins. After impressing enough to earn a move to Caligari in 1997, Vega spent just seven months in Sardinia before Tottenham brought him over to London. Signed by Gerry Francis off the back of an impressive outing for Switzerland against England at Euro 1996, the former White Hart Lane chief went as far as to suggest (http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/tottenham-sigh-vega-for-3-7m-1.20046) he ‘could be our Tony Adams’ upon his arrival on Hotspur Way. Despite helping the club to a League Cup win in 1999, he failed to truly recover from a stress fracture in his ankle that season, although he did make a last-ditch tackle to prevent Emile Heskey from scoring in Wembley’s showpiece against Leicester City. Vega was loaned to Celtic in 2000 for the latter half of the first campaign of the millennium, where he’d help Martin O’Neill’s side win the treble, making 26 appearances for the Bhoys. After a short spell in Glasgow, fondly remembered for two goals against Aberdeen on his debut in a 6-0 drubbing of the Dons, he became Gianluca Vialli’s big signing in the ultimately doomed Watford revolution, before a short spell in France with minnows US Créteil, where he retired aged 33. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTPSUR #SPURS #LWOS

Darren Anderton - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and Tottenham Hotspur legend Darren Anderton. Signed from Portsmouth in 1992, the midfielder went on to make 299 appearances for us in the Premier League in a 12-year career at the Lane - a figure yet to be toppled. He won the League Cup in 1999 and played 357 times for us in all competitions before departing for Birmingham City in 2004. Capped 30 times by England, Darren was a key member of Terry Venables’ team that took apart Holland on the way to the semi-finals of Euro 1996 - he set up Paul Gascoigne's iconic goal against Scotland - and then scored against Colombia in the 1998 World Cup Finals in France. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

Host Charlie Hawkins was joined by Jamie from the Daily Hotspur and John from Lilywhite Rose as the Last Word On Spurs returned to Love Sport Radio for the #SpursFansShow as the panel reacted to The FA, Premier League, EFL and women’s professional game, together with the PFA and LMA, have announced that professional football in England will be postponed until April 30 at the earliest. It appears the FA, Premier League, EFL and women’s professional game are fully committed to ending the season. They have extended the season "indefinitely", rules had stated the domestic season should be finished by June 1. The further suspension of English football is no surprise. The game cannot continue as the coronavirus pandemic spreads. 'Down And Out' | Love Sport Radio

Host Charlie Hawkins was joined by Ricky Sacks and Jamie Brown from the Daily Hotspur as the Last Word On Spurs returned to Love Sport Radio for this week's #SpursFansShow. The German club - who were only formed 10 years ago - led 1-0 from the first leg in London and Marcel Sabitzer's double at the Red Bull Arena put Leipzig in control. Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris should have done better for both goals - getting a hand to both the Leipzig captain's 20-yard shot and near-post header. Emil Forsberg scored with his first touch after coming off the bench to give Leipzig a 4-0 aggregate win. Injury-hit Spurs never looked capable of mounting a comeback like the one against Ajax last season which took them to the final and will now finish the season without a trophy again. Jose Mourinho's side - who have not won in six games in all competitions - will need to find some form if they are to be back in this tournament at all next season. They are seven points behind the top four in the Premier League. 'Mour Trouble'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by debutant James Dickens along with returning guests to the Last Word On Spurs in Darren Altman and Talia Coren as the panel discussed Dele Alli's penalty earning Spurs a 1-1 draw at Burnley but a third winless game saw them miss the chance to cut the gap to the top four to two points. Spurs coming into the game on a run of four defeats in a row were perhaps fortunate to escape Turf Moor with a point after a lacklustre opening period during which the hosts deservedly took the lead through Chris Wood's goal after a Hugo Lloris fumble (13). Jose Mourinho made his feelings clear at the break by introducing Giovani Lo Celso and Lucas Moura, and within five minutes of the restart they were level Alli converted from the spot after Ben Mee had caught Erik Lamela (50), netting his 50th Premier League goal in the process. Moments later Burnley were denied a penalty themselves when Davinson Sanchez barged into the back of Chris Wood and they missed a golden chance to restore their lead when substitute Matej Vydra shot straight at Lloris from close range. We also discussed Jose Mourinho's post-match comments on Tanguy Ndombele and previewed the club's Champions League last-sixteen second leg tie to come against RB Leipzig on Tuesday. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS #UCL

'A Dark Day' | Love Sport Radio

Host Charlie Hawkins was joined by Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen from the Last Word On Spurs and Jamie from the Daily Hotspur as the panel returned to Love Sport Radio. Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup on penalties by Norwich after missing three spot-kicks in the shootout, losing 3-2 after a 1-1 draw in normal time. Spurs looked in full control of the tie when Jan Vertonghen (13) showed great determination to head home following a Giovani Lo Celso set piece. However, roared on by 9,000 visiting fans, Norwich took advantage of Tottenham's lack of urgency in the second half and equalised when Michel Vorm - who was making his first start since 2018 - fumbled a Kenny McLean effort and Josip Drmic bundled home to take the game to extra-time. Both teams looked tired in the extra minutes, so penalties were needed to separate them. When McLean missed Norwich's first penalty, Spurs were odds-on to progress but some woeful spot-kicks from Troy Parrott, Erik Lamela and Gedson Fernandes meant visiting Tim Krul was the hero for the visitors. To compound matters for Spurs, there were ugly scenes at full-time as Eric Dier entered the stands and was seen clashing with a supporter, who was having an altercation with Dier's brother, according to Jose Mourinho. The panel also previewed Burnley to come in the Premier League on Saturday. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS

'Disastrous Defending'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Antony Costa, Jonny Blain and Habibullah Khan as the panel reflected on the defeat to Wolves in the Premier League as Raul Jimenez scored a smart winner as Wolves recovered to move above Tottenham in the Premier League and boost their hopes of earning a Champions League spot. Nuno Espirito Santo's side trailed twice in north London before Jimenez latched on to Diogo Jota's pass to finish with his left foot. Spurs first led when Steven Bergwijn poked in and then from Serge Aurier's curling effort before the break. But Matt Doherty and Jota combined to bring Wolves level on both occasions. 'Spurs Fall Short'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Ricky J Norwood, Emma Storey and George Achillea as we discussed the performance and result against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge along with a long-heated debate on Jose Mourinho's style of play. Chelsea struck a significant blow in the fight for the top four places in the Premier League with a fully deserved victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. In a confrontation billed as a battle between Frank Lampard and his old mentor Jose Mourinho, Spurs could have leapfrogged Chelsea with victory but were outplayed and are now adrift by four points. Spurs' day could have been even worse as Giovani lo Celso should have been sent off for a dreadful second-half challenge on Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta. The video assistant referee decided against punishment, although officials in Stockley Park later admitted a mistake had been made and he should have been sent off. Mourinho's side gave themselves late hope when Erik Lamela's shot deflected in off Antonio Rudiger but in reality Spurs deserved nothing and Chelsea were worthy winners. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

'Son Rescues Spurs'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by returning guest to the Last Word On Spurs in Abbi Summers along with Cenk from the Spurs Web and Spurs YouTuber Max Sloakes to discuss Tottenham Hotspur's last-minute victory against Aston Villa. This was not what Tottenham Hotspur expected when they appointed Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese is 20 games into his tenure and already four of them have now finished 3-2 after Son Heung-min condemned Aston Villa to defeat in injury time in the final act of a frantic, frenetic game. Son’s strike was the match’s 41st shot, gaining Tottenham a win they may think they merited for a second-half onslaught where Pepe Reina, a man who frustrated Mourinho in a Champions League semi-final 13 years ago, seemed to be repeating the feat with a hat-trick of saves from the South Korean. 'Clive Allen - Feature Show'

Host Ricky Sacks and Jason McGovern had the pleasure of being joined by Tottenham Hotspur legend Clive Allen.  Clive Allen is one of the finest goalscorers of his generation but arguably his biggest battle has been to prove himself the best in his own family. His remarkable 49-goal haul for Tottenham in the 1986-87 season still stands as a club-record which earned him the rare dual honour of Professional Footballers Association Player of the Year and Football Writers Association Player of the Year in addition to the First Division Golden Boot. That stunning achievement is the apotheosis of a career which began at Queens Park Rangers before becoming English footballs first million-pound teenager when signing for Arsenal in 1980. Yet, in one of the most mysterious transfers of modern times, Clive was sold to Crystal Palace without playing a game and went on to represent eight more clubs including a year in France with Bordeaux before a brief stint as an NFL kicker for the London Monarchs.  #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

'Bergwijn's Beauty'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by returning guests to the Last Word On Spurs in Troy Townsend, Richard Cracknell and Talia Coren, as we returned to discuss Tottenham Hotspur giving their top four hopes a huge boost with a stirring home victory over a disjointed Manchester City (https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/manchester-city-fc) . In a first half steeped in controversy, Spurs were calling for an early red card for Raheem Sterling following a stamp on the ankle of England teammate Dele Alli, for which he was eventually only booked. City were then awarded a penalty when Serge Aurier fouled Sergio Aguero, only for Ilkay Gundogan to see his effort from 12 yards saved by Hugo Lloris after a lengthy wait to award the spot-kick while play continued. City's Oleksandr Zinchenko was sent off for a second bookable offence in the second period, and shortly afterwards Spurs took control as debutant Steven Bergwijn drove home a fine effort from the edge of the box. Son Heung-min added a second eight minutes later when his low effort beat Ederson, as the hosts moved up to fifth, and four points outside of the Champions League places. We also previewed Southampton to come in the FA Cup replay and what kind of team Jose Mourinho will select. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

'Lo Celso's Magic'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen along with Richard White MBE and Jamie Weir from Sky Sports as we reviewed the FA Cup draw against Southampton. Sofiane Boufal's late equaliser gave Southampton a fully-deserved FA Cup fourth-round replay against Tottenham after an entertaining encounter. Saints' manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and Spurs counterpart Jose Mourinho made FA Cup statements of intent by selecting strong line-ups - and their teams delivered a game high on quality, chances and passion. Spurs looked on their way into the fifth round just before the hour, when Son Heung-min crowned a superb break with a low finish from the excellent Giovani lo Celso's pass. Southampton, however, had a succession of chances to equalise, with man of the moment Danny Ings having a rare off day in front of goal and squandering several opportunities. Ings never let his head drop for a second and his tireless approach was rewarded when he set up Boufal for a thumping finish high past Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris with three minutes left. We also discussed Steven Bergwijn still expecting to complete a transfer worth around €30M to Spurs during the upcoming week despite the commotion around his PSV departure. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM#HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

'Tanganga's Promise'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern, Jamie Brown from the Daily Hotspur and debutant to the Last Word On Spurs in Anthoulla as we reviewed the narrow defeat to Liverpool. Tottenham pushed them all the way and it might have been a different story had Son Heung-min or the substitute Giovani Lo Celso not fluffed their lines when wonderfully placed in the closing stages. The Lo Celso chance led José Mourinho to sink to his knees in disbelief. How had the midfielder missed the target when he had so much of it to aim for from Serge Aurier’s cross? Spurs had entered the game in poor form and with a clutch of debilitating injuries, including the high-profile one to Harry Kane. They tried everything in tactical terms, they gave everything on a physical level and Mourinho was on solid ground when he argued that his team deserved something. We also previewed Middlesbrough to come on Tuesday back in the FA Cup along with having a guess at what both the attendance and the result will be. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

'Trouble On Teeside'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen, John from Lilywhite Rose and debutant Hugo for this Last Word On Spurs as we discussed Lucas Moura rescuing a replay for Spurs after Ashley Fletcher struck opener for Championship side in FA Cup third round clash. More misery was piled on Jose Mourinho as Tottenham failed to beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. Spurs have been left with an unwanted replay and another fixture on an already-stacked calendar. Lucas Moura's second half header levelled the game shortly after Ashley Fletcher caught the Spurs back line napping. It leaves Mourinho again with more questions about his side than answers, as pressure starts ramping up on him and his ability to get the more out of the squad that let Mauricio Pochettino down earlier this season. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #FACup #LWOS

'Identity Crisis'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and returning guests to the Last Word On Spurs in Dan from YidVids and Ashley Watts as a brilliant goal from Danny Ings gave Southampton a narrow but deserved win over Jose Mourinho's Tottenham. The Saints striker flicked the ball superbly over Toby Alderweireld before shooting past Paulo Gazzaniga for his ninth goal in his past 10 games. Spurs were unimpressive, with Jan Vertonghen missing their best chance from close range in the first half. Mourinho, who was booked late on, sees his team stay sixth in the table, while Southampton rise to 11th. Spurs striker Harry Kane was forced off with a leg injury just seconds after having a goal disallowed for offside in the second half. The panel also previewed the FA Cup tie to come at the weekend away at Middlesbrough along with discussing the type of side that Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho may look to pick. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #LWOS

'Defensive Deficiencies'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jamie from the Daily Hotspur and John from Lilywhite Rose as the panel returned to review to the 2-2 draw against bottom of the table Norwich City. Harry Kane struck a late penalty to earn Tottenham a point at Carrow Road and deny Norwich a first Premier League victory in seven matches. Mario Vrancic opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal for the Canaries before they were denied a second when Teemu Pukki's goal was ruled out for a marginal offside by the video assistant referee (VAR). Spurs improved after the interval and Christian Eriksen drew them level with a stunning free-kick but Norwich retook the lead when Serge Aurier put through his own net. The visitors had their chances and Dele Alli's neat finish was ruled out for offside, before Kane drew Christoph Zimmermann into a lunging challenge inside the area. The England striker sent Tim Krul the wrong way from the spot to secure a point for the north London side. The panel also look ahead to Southampton to come on New Years Day in the Premier League. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

Dele's Christmas Cracker

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and Lee McQueen as Last Word On Spurs reviewed Tottenham renewed their pursuit of a place in the Premier League top four as they came from behind to beat Brighton. The result lifts Spurs up to fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who lost 2-0 at home to Southampton later on Thursday. Adam Webster had given the visitors a richly deserved lead, heading in from Pascal Gross' right-wing delivery towards the end of the first half. However, Spurs, who played at a pedestrian pace during the first period, raised their tempo after the interval to fight back. Harry Kane levelled matters with a right-foot shot into the bottom left corner after Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan had brilliantly parried his first effort and Dele Alli's sublime lobbed finish then found the top left corner to complete the turnaround. The panel also previewed Norwich City to come at the weekend for Jose Mourinho's Spurs. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

'Toby Re-Signs'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen and Jamie from the Daily Hotspur as Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has ended speculation about his future by signing a new contract. The 30-year-old, who was due to be a free agent in the summer, has agreed terms on a three-and-a-half-year deal at the north London club. Alderweireld looked set to be leaving Spurs at the end of the current campaign as negotiations over a new deal had stalled and under Mauricio Pochettino there appeared to be little chance of them restarting. But the arrival of Jose Mourinho has brought about a change and the Belgium international will now stay until 2023. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS

Steve Perryman: A Spur Forever

Host Ricky Sacks and Jason McGovern were joined by Tottenham Hotspur legend Steve Perryman in a feature-length podcast. It is rare in modern football that a player becomes synonymous with a club, but through the 70s and 80s Steve Perryman was the heart and soul of Tottenham Hotspur. Loyal, loved by the fans and trusted by his managers and players, the Spurs Captain became the club's record appearance maker, won two UEFA cups, two FA Cups, and two League cups. In doing so he endeared himself to a generation of fans as the leader and face of a club that, while not always successful, was always entertaining and gave its all on the pitch. In this new autobiography, Steve recalls his time at Tottenham, the players he shared the dressing room with, the managers he learnt from (including the great Bill Nicholson) and the colourful adversaries he squared up to on the pitch. He also tells of his time in management, including his spell working with Ossie Ardiles at Spurs under the chairmanship of the controversial Alan Sugar, and his successful period in Japan where he won the league Championship. As honest and uncompromising in his book as he was as a player, A Spur Forever is a must-read for all football fans who recall fondly the era of muddy pitches and approachable players. The book includes a wonderful foreword by Glenn Hoddle and is printed in full colour throughout its 304 pages and includes a wealth of memorabilia from Steve's career and over 150 photographs to help illustrate the text. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS
