By Barry Katz

RON FRIEDMAN is a prolific television writer and producer, and a professor of screenwriting for USC and Chapman University. A successful architect in Pittsburg with a wife and two kids, Ron left his job and moved to New York to pursue a career in writing. He began writing stand up acts and comedy albums in New York, before Dean Martin hired him as a writer for his show, prompting his move to Los Angeles. Ron has written over 700 hours of television, including episodes of "The Andy Griffith Show", "I Dream of Jeannie", "Starsky and Hutch", and "Fantasy Island", among many, many others.  He drafted the episode of "Happy Days" that introduced The Fonz, and the episode of "Bewitched" that introduced the practical-joking warlock Uncle Arthur. He created the animated series G.I. Joe, and adapted the animated Japanese show Transformers for American television, leading to his writing the 1986 animated film "Transformers: The Movie".
