Welcome to the latest episode of Movie Review Talk with Scott Mantz! On this episode, Scott, Roth Cornett, and Dan Murrell are discussing three new releases – The Girl in Spider’s Web,

The Grinch, Overlord, and Front Runner. The critics also give their thoughts on the Incredibles 2 Blu-ray release.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web stars The Crown’s Claire Foy and is directed by Fede Alvarez from a screenplay adaptation by Steven Knight and Fede Alvarez & Jay Basu. Foy stars as Lisbeth Salander, the cult figure and title character of the acclaimed Millennium book series created by Stieg Larsson. Blade Runner 2049’s Sylvia Hoeks also stars in this first-time feature film adaptation of the recent global bestseller written by David Lagercrantz.

The Grinch is Illumination and Universal Pictures’s eighth fully animated feature and is based on Dr. Seuss’ beloved holiday classic. It tells the classic story of a cynical grump who only sees his neighbors in Who-ville when he runs out of food. He goes on a mission to steal Christmas with a cave rigged with inventions and contraptions for his day-to-day needs only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous holiday spirit. Funny, heartwarming and visually stunning, it’s a universal story about the spirit of Christmas and the indomitable power of optimism. The film features the voice of Academy Award® nominee Benedict Cumberbatch as the infamous Grinch.

Overlord from director Julius Avery and producer J.J. Abrams stars Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, and Mathilde Olivier. With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that’s crucial to the invasion’s success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen. Overlord, from screenwriters Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith, is a thrilling, pulse-pounding action adventure with a twist.

Hugh Jackman stars in Front Runner as the charismatic politician Gary Hart for Academy Award®-nominated director Jason Reitman. The film follows the rise and fall of Senator Hart, who captured the imagination of young voters and was considered the overwhelming front runner for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination when his campaign was sidelined by the story of an extramarital relationship with Donna Rice. As tabloid journalism and political journalism merged for the first time, Senator Hart was forced to drop out of the race – events that left a profound and lasting impact on American politics and the world stage. The film also stars Vera Farmiga, J.K. Simmons and Alfred Molina. It is written by Matt Bai & Jay Carson & Jason Reitman, based on the book All the Truth is Out by Matt Bai, and produced by Jason Reitman and Helen Estabrook of Right of Way Films and Aaron L. Gilbert of BRON Studios.
