Saiyūki (1978-80) was a Japanese television series based on the 16th century Chinese novel, Journey to the West. Dubbed into English and re-titled 'Monkey' (aka 'Monkey Magic') the series became a cult classic in the UK, and an even bigger hit in Australia!
