Rich Spotlight: Milt Lowder Always tries to make people see him as just Milt and not to have people feel like they are being judged Knew three things growing up farming, medicine, and sports Was recruited by Wofford for baseball but only applied to one school (Clemson) Success is defined as a pursuit of a worthy goal Life threw several curve balls at him starting as a junior in high school being the first on the scene after his mom’s car wreck Wanted to be a college basketball coach but after not getting an opportunity under Rick Barnes he visited a psychologist through his mom and immediately knew that he wanted to be a psychologist Started the process of becoming a psychologist in 1997 and eventually started practicing in 2005 in Greenville, SC Starting working with Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Football team in 2009 Hardest part of the job is that you can’t take away someone’s pain but you can be present F.R.E.E. is an acronym for Focus Relax Engage Enjoy and helps athletes understand that you play your best when you can play free Coach Swinney came up with the tagline “Moments with Milt” One of the biggest rewards is watching the players and coaches experience joy Words of Wisdom from Milt Lowder, Ph.D.: Hebrews 11:1 James [1:12]To Follow Rich Take On Sports on Twitter: @richtakesports
