Why does Disney still hide it's gay characters?

This week, producer Dan Freeman is sparked to make an episode by High School Musical. Love it or hate it, it's a perfect example of Disney's long history of hiding gay characters in plain site? With so many queer fans - is it time for Disney to come out of the closet?
