Runaway: The Movie Kanye Needed to Make

Friday, 28 June

In 2010, Kanye made one of the greatest albums of all time: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. It was largely a reaction to his falling out with the public after the Taylor Swift incident—and so was the film that accompanied that album, Runaway.

In this episode, you'll notice the format is a little different. And that's because this episode serves as a preview for our new podcast, Your Brain on Film, where we'll analyze movies like we've analyzed music for years now. All five episodes of that show's pilot season will launch on Monday, July 1. You can go subscribe to that show now.

Today, we dive into what that film meant to Kanye at the time, and what he was trying to convey to the world.
