Hoovering - Episode 83: Rachel Stubbings

Hoovering - Episode 83: Rachel Stubbings

By Jessica Fostekew

Welcome to HOOVERING, the podcast about eating. Host, Jessica Fostekew (Guilty Feminist, Motherland) has a frank conversation with an interesting person about gobbling; guzzling; nibbling; scoffing; devouring and wolfing all up… or if you will, hoovering.

This is a special episode because it’s with my best friend. Director, actor and writer Rachel Stubbings. We eat pasta and drink champagne and smoke some rollies in my garden and it’s probably about as relaxed as a conversation that’s being recorded ever get.

Everything written below in CAPITALS is a link to the relevant webpage.

Tickets to see Hoovering LIVE in 2019

Hoovering is coming to MANCHESTER next on 13th October! And then to Deershed Podcast Festival on 23rd November and there’s a giant new London date coming soon.

Some of the other autumn dates have had to come out because I’ve become swamped with other commitments but those proper touring efforts will be back in full force in the new year to coincide with my tour of my stand up show, Hench.

Honourable Mentions

You should follow RACHEL STUBBINGS on social media, this is the FILMS PAGE of her website. Watch them all. And I implore you to attend her amazing short films night in Bermondsey SHOOTING THE BREEZE

So I’m fresh back from a dream fringe with my stand up show HENCH, where is was all sold out including three big extra shows and it only got nominated for the fucking Edinburgh Award (Perrier for anyone outside of comedy). It’s going on tour from Feb but until then that’s announced, there are a bunch of dates at the SOHO THEATRE in London which I’d love to have you at. Click on anything in this paragraph in capitals for tickets.

Outside of that I’ll be doing new material gigs and I’m always sticking new dates on MY WEBSITE so have a check. The Hoovering Live dates go on there too.

The fresh fennel pasta we ate came from Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall’s RIVER COTTAGE VEG EVERY DAY! book.

We shared a whole bottle of VEUVE CLICQUOT and mentioned MOET now owned by the amazingly name ‘Moet Hennessy Luis Vuiton’

Back in the real world, food wise, we gave a nod to PARTY RINGS

Stubbs gives a beautiful description of the particularly fit starters at THE GATE in Islington.

She reveals that she studied rock painting at Devon’s DARTINGTON COLLEGE OF ARTS

The horrible film we watched when I was very pregnant was called SICARO

And the feast of her dreams would have included Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/hoovering.
