Alix Popham, Jack Willis and rugby’s brutality

By JOE

Lee, Seánie and Bomb are joined by two special guests this week who for different reasons are dealing with the consequences of rugby’s brutality.

Former Wales flanker Alix Popham, who was diagnosed with early onset dementia last year at the age of 40, explains how he is now trying to raise awareness of the impact rugby head injuries can cause.

And England and Wasps player Jack Willis, joins to talk about dealing with the prospect of another year on the sidelines after sustaining a serious knee injury on his Six Nations debut a few weeks ago, having gone through something very similar back in 2018.

Mindset4Dementia is a community-driven AI initiative that gives you the chance to join the fight against dementia. The danger and distress of living undiagnosed with dementia is a reality for 31 million people and their families.

The app features fun cognitive tasks designed for wide-scale data collection. Completing these tasks teaches the AI how the brain works. The data can then be used by a future AI to provide care remotely to those who are isolated and living with dementia. Whatever your age or health status, your contribution makes a big difference.
