The Archers

Thursday, 2 September

Lilian drops off a hamper to Jakob at the vet practice. She can’t thank him enough for being thorough with his checks on Double Bill despite her pressuring him to sign the horse off for purchase. Lilian’s gift interrupts Denise and Jakob’s chat. Denise almost didn’t take up Jakob’s invitation to talk but did so out of loyalty to Alistair and the practice. Jakob admits he misses her skills, and recognises he’s been insensitive. Denise explains she’s feeling stressed at home with both of her children moving out. Alistair plans to take Mousse to a rescue centre but Jazzer tries to persuade him otherwise. Alistair needs someone to come home to, especially when he’s had a hard week like this one. But the canine companionship that Jazzer’s describing isn’t forthcoming from Mousse with Alistair. Alistair’s relieved to learn Denise and Jakob have come to an agreement and she will resume working at the practice. When Jakob notices Denise’s fondness for Mousse he suggests that she takes the dog home. Denise agrees. She’ll even take Mousse to visit her owner Mrs Hakim. After ruling out a horse and a boat, Lilian and Justin are at a loss as to what to do with the money they want to invest. Lilian wonders whether they should simply give the money away. Justin thinks she’s mad. Whilst he’s not against doing something for charity he still wants them to pursue a venture together. Whatever it will be, it’ll make the rest of Ambridge sit up and take notice.
