The Archers

Monday, 20 December

Clarrie is relieved to have finished the costumes for the cast of The Ambridge Mystery Plays; she can now focus on a long list of Christmas tasks. Meanwhile, Susan is ready for Christmas but glum about her entrance as First King not being as impactful as Lily’s planned entrance on horseback. This only worsens when she sees Lily’s flattering bodice costume. Clarrie ropes Susan into making wreaths with her but she can’t distract her from worrying about being unremarkable in the Mystery Plays. Clarrie keeps ignoring calls from Kirsty, who then texts to say she urgently needs to speak to her. Amy and Alice meet at a Christmas market in Birmingham, where Alice spots a reindeer decoration just like one her family had that Ruairi named Randal. Alice is looking forward to seeing Ruairi; she wants to make Christmas special for him. Amy warns it might not be an easy fix but compliments Alice on all the effort she’s making. Amy heads off and Jennifer joins Alice in a café. Alice shows her Randal the reindeer, and is pleased that Jennifer also remembers him. But then Jennifer breaks the news that Ruairi’s not coming for Christmas after all. Alice is saddened by this. She was looking forward to making amends for what she said to him while she was drunk. She wonders if he hasn’t forgiven her. Jennifer assures Alice that he knows she loves him, and he loves her too.
