#377 Clover Stroud: Writing About Life & Death (Part 1)

#377 Clover Stroud: Writing About Life & Death (Part 1)

By Emma Gannon

My guest today is writer and journalist Clover Stroud. I adore her writing and outlook on the world. Her first book, The Wild Other, was shortlisted for The Wainwright Prize. Her second book, My Wild & Sleepless Nights: A Mother's Story was rated one of the 'best books of the year, 2020' by the Observer and the Telegraph and was a Sunday Times bestseller. And her third memoir The Red Of My Blood might just be my favourite of them all. In this book, Clover is looking at life, death and grief. She is asking the question: can death bring something good to my life? A few weeks before Christmas, Clover's sister died of breast cancer, aged forty-six. Her sudden death broke Clover's life into pieces. The Red of My Blood charts Clover's surreal and fearless journey through the first year after her sister's death. This is a really special book and really recommend you pick up a copy. This is part one of our conversation, and part two will be released right after it so if you enjoyed go and check out part two now :)
