the mental health conversation on the internet [video]

[video available on Spotify] i’ve been talking openly about my mental health on the internet for years now. i think it’s just who i am by nature. i’ve never had much of an issue talking about my struggles, and i think the conversation about mental health is an incredible thing. but the fact that i’m involved in the conversation online about mental health has made me hyper aware of the conversation itself, and has caused me to analyze it as a whole. what are people saying online in regards to mental health? what advice and knowledge are people sharing? two things can be true at once - something can be incredible, and helpful, and lifesaving, and it can also be incredibly damaging, misguided and harmful. and i think that’s happening with this mental health conversation online. it’s an important conversation to have. so today we’re going to talk about the evolution of the mental health conversation online, the benefits of it, and the negative impacts of this conversation. this episode contains some very heavy topics. we talk about suicide, eating disorders, and other mental health issues. so if you think this will be upsetting for you, please don't listen to this episode. for resources on these topics, visit spotify.com/resources.  Learn more about your ad choices.
