You've heard me say this before, but it's VERY hard to know a moment in history when you are living in it. Well, we continue to live in a very peculiar and disturbing time in American history - in the shadows of thousands of people trying to overthrow the American government, Republicans have now cannibalized one of their own, and voted out their own Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy. That has never happened before. And for the next week, or longer, the United States Congress won't even have a Speaker of the House because Republicans, who control the House, don't even have enough votes to select a replacement. It's just another clue at how unstable this place truly is. Let me unpack and explain it.
