IGN UK Podcast #622: Sucking on Chocolate is Wonderful

It's gaming Christmas, aka The Game Awards, in which dozens of adverts for upcoming video games arrive at Geoff Keighley's awards ceremony. Cardy stayed up all night to watch them because he's mad, and so he joins Alex and Matt on this week's IGN UK podcast to talk about all the highlights. (Alex and Matt watched the trailers this morning like normal people). In addition to discussing the likes of Star Wars: Eclipse, Alan Wake 2, Sommerville, Arc Raiders, Space Marine 2, and Suicide Squad, this week's podcast also covers the big topic of the week: Halo Infinite's campaign. Has 343 Industries finally made a campaign that lives up to the best of Bungie, or does the open world design just not suit Master Chief? We've got plenty of thoughts. Plus, to make this episode extra special, we've got an interview with one of the finest directors in history: Mr. Steven Spielberg. As ever, there's another edition of the Endless Search (this time it's Halo flavoured) and we respond to your feedback about replaying games and sucking on chocolate.

Microsoft surprised us all with the launch of Halo Infinite's multiplayer this week, and Cardy, Jesse, and Matt have been getting into the Spartan groove by spanking as many people as possible. Beyond Halo chat, we've also got a few bones to pick with the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, which hasn't exactly revitalised our nostalgia for the PS2-era of GTA. Balancing that out, we've got chat about Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the new Radiohead Kid A Mnesia Exhibition, a strange musical museum on PC and PS5.

Gavin Murphy also makes a return to tell us about his new-found Twitch obsession and how he can't bring himself to finish Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Of course, a lot of what we talk about here seems frivolous in comparison to what is happening in the world right now. Black Lives Matter. There's also a selection of differing opinions about the PS5's DualSense controller and a nice little bit of general next-gen chat as well. There's a 3-way Endless Search that goes down to the wire, along with all your lovely feedback as well. Remember, if you want to get in touch with the podcast, please do: ign_ukfeedback@ign.com

There isn't really a lot of other fun stuff happening this week so instead dedicate a large portion of this week to listener feedback and return to some nostalgic PS2 chat and dreams video game concepts. Jesse has finally stepped up to host a game of The Endless Search. Good lad. I didn't really know what music to put at the end this week, so enjoy some of The Beatles. Stay safe out there x - Simon.

IGN UK Podcast #527: Mother: Unleashed

Joe's spent a large portion of the past week on planes, so tells us about what he watched, played and listened to on them. Cardy's played a bit Persona 5 Royal and is still insisting to himself that he won't sink another 100+ hours into it when it releases. Matt's has been finishing off his time with the Half-Life reimagining "Black Mesa" and has been having a rather splendid time by the sound of it. There's also time to discuss how relaxing Animal Crossing is looking after the hefty Nintendo Direct this week. The feedback section takes a dark turn, but the frivolity of The Perpetual Pursuit does well to balance it out. IGN UK Podcast #525: The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Vincent D'Onofrio

Joe's had a nostalgic time in Skate 3 and been solving murders/picross puzzles in Murder by Numbers. Cardy is also present to perform terrible Vincent D'Onofrio impressions and reminisce about when the Saw franchise was good. A quiz is played and feedback is read. Some things never change.   Remember, if you want to get in touch with the podcast, please do: ign_ukfeedback@ign.com

IGN UK Podcast #523: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Hype

This week on the IGN UK Podcast, Dale and Matt get very hype about all their nostalgic memories being made anew thanks to a brand new Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer. We talk how to pronounce Jenova, Red XIII's voice, the gloom of the Shinra building... everything you could think of, aside from Cloud's cross dressing, which we somehow overlooked. That's why he's in the thumbnail for this episode: he may not get a mention, but he's certainly not forgotten. Jesse's on the show too, and has been playing the Disintegration beta with some of the other IGN guys. There's mixed thoughts a-plenty on that one, but with a sprinkling of hope. There's also some discussion about Warcraft 3 Reforged, the remaster of the classic 2002 Blizzard RTS that's both a fantastic visit to the past and a failure to meet a lofty promise. As ever, there's also a cool listener-submitted game and our responses to your feedback.

On top of that, we've got a Star Wars-themed Endless Search, a bit of Star Wars-themed feedback and, er, someone who doesn't like the idea of our Football Manager spin-off. Fair enough, really. It's Football Day: Episode 1

Some of us here at the IGN UK office spend more time than is healthy - both professionally and medically - talking about Football Manager. Welcome to It's Football Day, our twice-monthly show all about the greatest spreadsheets on this sweet Earth of ours. It's also a tiny bit about Charlie Hunnam's accent in Green Street. Join Cardy, Joe and Dale as we introduce our teams, our objectives, our first signings, and possibly even our FUTURE DESTINY. Fair warning: if you don't like football, or Football Manager, this might be completely impenetrable (but it might make an amazing sleep aid). IGN UK Podcast #510: Terminator Episode VI - A New Hope

Could it be real? Could there really be another good Terminator film in the world? It seems so, and that's one of the plethora of topics on the table in this week's IGN UK Podcast. Matt's seen it, and he's got a few thoughts on why - for better and for worse - it's the best one since T2. Not only that, but we've got an interview with stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton on the show, too. Before all that, though, there's more to discuss. Star Wars! The Outer Worlds! Watchmen! Big hefty topics that require big old hefty chats. And that's exactly what Matt, Cardy, and Joe have for you in episode 510. IGN UK Podcast #509: Ms. Marvel and the Tissue of Eternal Nightmares

In this week's thrilling installment of the IGN UK Podcast, Dale has a Halloween-themed Cadbury's Creme Egg that he's desperate to eat. But will he get to the gooey centre before Cardy takes it for himself? You'll have to listen to the whole 'cast to find out.  Thankfully that shouldn't be too much of an arduous task, as there's plenty to discuss. Matt's been to EGX to play Marvel's Avengers, including hands-on time with a new character; the super-stretchy Ms. Marvel. Dale's also been previewing games this week, with thoughts on Need for Speed Heat and WWE 2K20. Cardy's also got a few extra words to say about Disco Elysium, the detective game that's captured the hearts and minds of almost all the UK team, and Matt's got some thoughts about Zombieland: Double Tap.  PG Tips returns for this week's Endless Search, and of course there's more feedback (as well as the questions discovered in Dale's Twitter mentions).

It's podcast day, and Joe, Jesse, and Matt have come together to discuss what may be their game of the year: Disco Elysium. Never heard of it? Then you're in the right place for hugely enthusiastic, incredible weird chat about this massive, strange detective RPG.  If RPGs where you get into arguments with your neck tie aren't your thing, then there's also plenty of discussion about the two big co-op shooters of the moment - Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint - and Joe's been putting Nintendo's new fitness gizmo Ring Fit to the test.   And as if that wasn't enough, there's also a hilariously difficult new game for the Endless Search, and some delightful feedback.

Cardy & Joe have both been reviewing games this week so gather round the podcast table for layers of critical thought. Link's Awakening has been remade for the Switch so Joe tells you why that's a banger and Cardy has done FIFA again so explains what's up with the footballs this year. Borderlands 3 also gets its fair share of debate time. Meanwhile, Dale is convinced that new Netflix show "The I-Land" has ripped him off and is out to prove it. Joe's got a list-based quiz for the Endless Search as well as plenty of time for your feedback.

IGN UK Podcast #504: Norman Reedus - Full Body Edition

Tokyo Game Show is happening right now, bringing big revelations about some of Japan's biggest games. So you know what that means: long chats about what the hell is going on in Death Stranding. Joe, Cardy and Matt discuss Kojima's latest revelations, and it looks like we finally know what you do in the game. There's more than Thermos babies to discuss, though. We've been playing a duo of delights in Gears 5 and Catherine: Full Body, plus the slightly less delightful Daemon X Machina. And in film chat, we discuss Brad Pitt's journey to the far side of the galaxy in the serene and existential Ad Astra. And, as ever, there's another thrilling edition of The Endless Search.

IGN UK Podcast #503: IT Chapter Two and Other Scaries

Matt has seen IT Chapter Two and not only does tell us his feelings, but he also shares his interview he did with the film's director, Andy Muschietti. But that's not the only scaries we have this week. In what feels like an early halloween, we have three spooky games to bang on about. Dale has played Blair Witch and has a lot of thoughts about the game and the history of the series. Jesse talks about finishing Man of Medan three times and Dale has also tried out the latest PS4 FMV game, Erica. We also have a detour chat about the Star Wars prequels. And of course, there's this week edition of The Endless Search.

We have some stuff to say about that.  Once we've gone through the stages of grief, we have time to talk about The Mandalorian, new Disney and Star Wars series, and Control. We even squeezed in a chat with Brian Froud, the genius behind the many, many designs of creatures in The Dark Crystal, and its new Netflix Prequel, Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Thanks Brian! In an INCREDIBLE COINCIDENCE, the Witcher's getting a Netflix show just as Game of Thrones comes to a close. So, what better people to cast it than Gav and Dale, who have almost no knowledge of the games? We also discuss why The Handmaid's Tale is so good Joe can't bring himself to watch it anymore, why Farpoint is so VR-y that Dale can't play it anymore, and why Iron Maiden's beer is so beef-like that Gav can't drink it anymore. Plus, your ever-excellent feedback, and another listener-submitted Keyword Countdown. Get it up your ears, stat.

IGN UK Podcast #378: Japanese Snacks Destroy Morons

This week we're joined by all-round lovely man and IGN Japan chief editor, Daniel Robson. Naturally, we asked him lots of dumb questions about what Japan is like. Naturally, he made us eat unusually flavoured Japanese snacks. Naturally, there was a prolonged period of screaming. Aside from that, we talk the unexpected return of Rick and Morty, that time Overwatch's Jeff Kaplan came to office(!), and the strangest things we've done in our sleep, for some reason.

17/03/17·54m 37s

IGN UK Podcast #374: Get Out of Hyrule

Somehow, we did things that weren't playing Zelda this week. I mean, not many things, but definitely some things. Like watching excellent new horror film, Get Out, or thinking about how the Switch is already worming its tablet-y little way into our daily lives. But yeah, mainly we just play Zelda now, and the breathless enthusiasm and inability to talk in a straightforward way about it you're about to hear will attest to that.

IGN UK Podcast #373: The Goodest Week We've Ever Had

There's so much good in this week's podcast that we had to call the server nerds at IGN and tell them to chuck on more logs. We've had a week with the Nintendo Switch (it's good) and saw Logan (it's very good) and Kong: Skull Island (also good). Let's take a moment to appreciate how good life is right now by listening to three men gob off into microphones.  Get in touch with us: ign_ukfeedback@ign.com

Gav went to Japan, got scared out of his wits, and returned with an uneasily rustling bag of answers to the Internet's most stinging questions about Resident Evil 7. In the meantime, Rory and Joe just watched lots of comedies about idiot men having a nice time. Different strokes for different folks. Also: beer stealing, Gang Beasts tricks, beer pong trophies, and Keyword Countdown.

IGN UK Podcast #354: The One Where No One Talks About Nintendo Switch or Red Dead

Monday seems a very long time ago now. Nintendo Switch had a different name, we were only guessing that Red Dead 2 existed, and IGN LA's Terri Schwartz chose to spend some of her holidays in our office for no discernible reason and we wanted to record a podcast with her. Basically, all of this is an excuse for why this four day-old episode seems very out-of-date. Forget all that brand new stuff, let's talk about The Crystal Maze and Miles Teller's gusset, then play Keyword Countdown. Oh, and one of you makes us look really clever with your feedback - thanks for that.

We've gone all-in on PSVR this week. Rory's started questioning the fabric of our universe, Alysia's been forced to curl up under tables out of fright, and Joe is changing his name by deed poll to Victor Réalité, just because he likes the initials (and the idea of being French). As such, it's a bit of a VR special, as we talk through our favourites and least favourites of the PSVR launch line-up, tell anecdotes from other worlds, and end with a good o' fashioned quiz. Prepare to be catapulted out of your own brain into another by sheer power of chat.

IGN UK Podcast #334: Warcraft Is Like a Teddy Left in the Woods

If you'll learn one thing in this episode, it's that Preacher is gross. If you'll learn two things, it's that Preacher is gross, and that Rory's dad is a sort of modern Spartan. If you'll learn three things, it's Preacher=gross, Rory=Spartan progeny and that there is a Spider-Man who is a pig. We were also apparently less disappointed by the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film than Warcraft, and Krupa once played frisbee with either some goop or a man's face.
03/06/16·1h 13m

IGN UK Podcast #333: In Overwatch, What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Sonia

After last week's, er, heavy review scores chat, new podcast dream team Gav, Alysia and Joe reconvened to relax a little. We talked Overwatch, we talked half-forgotten English soap opera stars, and we talked James Young, the man with the incredible Metal Gear-connected bionic arm. Plus Keyword Countdown gets FOUR new theme tunes, and Alysia loses her freaking mind because Joe is the best. Oh, and if you want to sponsor us to run 10 kilometres/perish for charity, here's our Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/IGN/

#332: Review Scores, Judged

This week, we were joined by a new member of Team IGN UK, Alysia Judge. As is traditional, we had a long and semi-furious rant about the problems of review scores in the modern games industry as a result. Classic hazing. Also there's, you know, horror films, going on a stag do from the men from Catherine and the real definition of male full frontal nudity. Enjoy!
20/05/16·58m 35s

#331: Game of Thrones: A Thief's Rear End

We're bang into Uncharted 4, not least because it makes our consoles sound like terrifying spaceships by putting them under way too much performance strain. Plus: Green Room might be Gav's film of the year, Overwatch might be Joe's game of the year and Game of Thrones doesn't make Alex quite as sad anymore. Positivity abounds! And if that wasn't enough, this week sees the return of the greatest feature of all time, Keyword Countdown. And we're not just saying that because Joe's writing this story.
13/05/16·1h 15m

IGN UK Podcast #330 - We Want a Variety of Fragranced Urines

To use the parlance of our times, Overwatch has emerged out of a jungle of MOBA-infused FPS games and ganked us right in the excitement buttons. Krupa, Joe and Dale are just a little enthused about the potential of Blizzard's new characterful shooter. And that's not to mention trips to see hidden Star Wars stories, a man nearly stabbing Gav off of a balcony, and the genetic differences between those who are and aren't... affected by asparagus. Get involved, if you please.

We have all the questions and probably one or two answers. Other than that, we've got a quiz about the weirdest games Joe's played recently, we can't make up our minds about whether zombie games are actually fun and Rory reveals his childhood past as an amateur spy. On his mum and cat.

As 2015 draws to a close, Gav, Chris and Dale review the year's television, talking Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Mr Robot and Better Call Saul. It was a year when second seasons were either very good, or very bad, with Fargo falling into the former camp, and True Detective and Broadchurch very much the latter. As far as comedy was concerned, Broad City was unexpectedly hilarious, and Peep Show went out with a bang. Mad Men also had a impressive finale, while documentary The Jinx blew our minds.
