Kammy & Ben's Proper Football Podcast

In the last of his series on midfield hardmen, Kammy remembers Leeds legend David Batty. He recalls an early battle against Batty and Vinnie Jones, and how he quickly impressed Kammy when they became team-mates at Elland Road. Why would Batty ignore him when they were opponents later in Kammy’s career, why was he so pivotal when Leeds won the league title in 1992 and why does he think Batty has been able to walk away from football?

Kammy talks about the fearsome Graeme Souness in his latest episode on midfield tough guys. He recalls how Souness was one of his heroes at Middlesbrough and how he felt when they came up against one another on the pitch for the first time. But why did Kammy have to give up 200 quid after? Kammy also gives his verdict on whether Souey was better than Steven Gerrard and how they became good pals when working together on TV.

In the second part of his midfield tough guy series, Kammy remembers another of his former team-mates - Terry Hurlock. He explains why many players were intimidated by him and why he deserves more credit for the career that he had. Even though they were great pals, they were fiercely competitive when they faced each other and Kammy remembers one time when that spilled over and led to an early bath and a confrontation with Terry’s dad…
