Self Awareness and the 4 Key Disciplines to Scale Your Business

By Nick James

Nick is with Jo Ingram, brand manager, strategist coach and host of the Goals with Soul podcast talking about his journey and what he has learnt from both his challenges and successes

They discuss the common denominators that can mean a business gets stuck and doesn’t scale and the four key disciplines that any business needs to have if it wants to scale and succeed from getting your message out there through to managing the finance and delivering on your product and service this is a great chance to hear about what makes the difference for a successful business

People underestimate the value of making connections and building relationships with others The most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself and I’m quite comfortable being with myself The average person can find it difficult to relate to the perfection portrayed on social media Self-awareness and humility are key elements that make someone more relatable The discipline of running a business is very different to being in a business When you start in business and there is only you, a balance is needed between masculine and feminine energy You have to sell to have a successful business so be self-aware enough to know what you are great at and build your marketing message on this You have to find a way to ask a potential customer for money if you want to build a successful business Those who succeed fastest are those who have a natural ability to communicate When you take responsibility for everything you think, feel, and do, you have the power and ability  to change it

‘To achieve sales you need to put yourself out there in the way that best works for you’

‘The most valuable thing I took away from the experiences in that environment was the connections, relationships and people I got to know’

‘If your intention is to serve and give without wanting something in return it feels different for you and the other person’

Nick dropped out of university at the age of 21 and failed spectacularly with his first coaching business, which forced him to take a £16k/yr telesales job.

Within 12 months he was the top performer and left to start his second business at 24. This time he discovered a winning formula and before long had a multi-six-figure company.

He then made a huge mistake which nearly put him out of business and cost him £50,000 in personal cash!

Fortunately, Nick kept it afloat, turned it around, and sold that business 2 years later in a seven-figure deal.

He then co-founded a multi-million-pound marketing company, which he exited in 2015, and created Expert Empires.
