Martyn Ford: The Scariest Man on the Planet!

Martyn Ford: The Scariest Man on the Planet!

By Rob Moore

Misunderstood, scary and tattooed are all words associated with the powerhouse Martyn Ford. He is known as a fitness guru, social media star, bodybuilder, fighter and actor too but who is the real Martyn Ford and what is he about?

Join Rob in this episode as he tries to find out about the man behind the words and rumours, including what is behind Martyn’s success in life, the power of mindset and even his battle with an eating disorder. They also discuss Martyn’s confrontation with the Iranian Hulk, the obesity crisis in the UK and his thoughts on steroids and supplements.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Martyn would rather fight in the professional world for credibility than for money. He isn’t interested in celeb fights. The heaviest Martyn has been 27 stone, but he still wouldn’t class himself as a bodybuilder, he just likes to lift weights! The mindset of a professional sportsman according to Martyn is the refusal to lose, the ability to switch off the outside world and to be consistent. The world of training has changed an incredible amount over the years. Martyn attributes this to the misconceptions around health and fitness mostly driven by social media. Young people need to be taught the balance and structure needed in life, the damage social media is creating for young people is extremely worrying. There is a lot of responsibility in the hands of parents who aren’t always making the right choices for their kids. The problem with free speech is that you open yourself up to people who don’t actually know what they are talking about, who are ignorant and also at times, dangerous. We often need to go backwards to go forwards and this is what Martyn believes is the answer to the bad habits, obesity and the health crisis seen in the Western world. The cancellation of the fight between Martyn and the Iranian Hulk was accumulation of many things, including rape threats made about Martyn’s family, the realisation that the Iranian Hulk was struggling mentally as well as countless breaks in the contract. Martyn lost 7 figures from cancelling the fight with the Iranian Hulk, but it wasn’t worth it for him. At the very least it wouldn’t have been a fair fight and anything negative that would have happened afterwards Martyn would have felt responsible for. Being progressive is the best way to help with depression. Think about what you it will take to change the things you are depressed about and start doing them.
