Pakistan floods: ‘The climate catastrophe of the decade’

By Sky News

Pakistan is drowning under devastating flooding, an unprecedented event that the country’s climate minister has called “the climate catastrophe of the decade”. An area bigger than the UK has been inundated, leaving more than 1,000 people dead and tens of millions displaced.

On the Sky News Daily podcast, Niall Paterson gets an on-the-ground account of the destruction from Sky News’ Saima Mohsin and discusses the huge rescue effort under way with Peter Ophoff, from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Plus Sara Hayat, a Pakistani lawyer and activist, explains why climate change is considered the root cause of the floods and what action is needed to protect the country from further destruction.
