The hiring chain

The hiring chain

By Neil Thornton + Jack Ratcliffe

In our most ambitious episode to date, we have not 1, not 2, or 3 but 4, yes FOUR guests on this episode. It all started with the viral campaign called &aposThe Hiring Chain&apos from Italian organisation CoorDown. CoorDown&aposs mission is to advocate for the rights of people with Down&aposs Syndrome, and this year on World Down&aposs Syndrome Day (March 21st) they released a campaign to encourage businesses around the world to employ people with Down&aposs Syndrome. The beautiful video, with a song stung by Sting, shows the power of representation, and the impact of seeing people with Down&aposs Syndrome in work.

We sat down virtually with CoorDown&aposs Head of Communications, Martina Fuga, Alison Thwaite, Employment Development Manager from the UK Down&aposs Syndrome Association&aposs WorkFit programme, Superintendent Damian Pettit from the West Mercia Police and his colleague Bethany Greaves (plus Dad!), who found her job at West Mercia Police through the WorkFit programme. We talk about the Hiring Chain campaign, how companies can work with the DSA and the importance of a rich and diverse work force. It&aposs a great chat and one of our most favourite to date.

Enjoy!
