In the last six months, more than 16 and a half million pounds has been lost to a rising phenomenon; the romance scam.

Women are being duped into sending their life savings overseas to who they believe to be ‘the one.’

But with the help of hotlines, victims are soon realising that this is nothing more than a rom-con.

So, why are romance scams on the rise? And what’s being done to stop it?
