Alex Williams: Mr CITC

Alex Williams: Mr CITC

By Man City

Alex Williams MBE joins Nedum Onuoha and Rob Pollard to talk about his 45 years working with Manchester City. You may recognise him as the man who presented the Premier League Trophy to the squad at the end of last season, but his association with the club started 45 years ago. Joining as a player in 1978, he became one of the game’s first modern-day black goalkeepers but a back injury led to him retiring from football at the age of just 25. Soon after, he returned in a different role, becoming an integral force behind the Club’s official charity, City in the Community, helping to shape it into the organisation we see today. Listen as Alex reflects on his early years following the Club, through to the impact that CITC has had on young people in Manchester and beyond. And we also learn how in one fateful encounter, he managed to put off a young Nedum from ever taking penalties!
