Finally Pregnant

Finally Pregnant

By Cat Strawbridge (@tryingyears)

Getting through the 9 months of pregnancy after infertility and loss can be tougher than you might think. Plus, the impact our experiences can have on our parenting is beginning to be recognised. Up until recently the support for those finally pregnant and parenting has been limited. The Finally Pregnant Podcast, with host Cat Strawbridge, aka @tryingyears (https://www.instagram.com/tryingyears/) on socials, is here to change that. You can also find out more @finallypregnant (https://www.instagram.com/finallypregnant/) . Including stories from others who have or are going through their own pregnancies and are willing to share their anxieties along with what they've learnt, there will also be a host of experts sharing 'normal' pregnancy advice, but in this safe space. Have a listen and do get in touch with any ideas for future episodes.

S6 Ep10: #73 USA's First IVF Baby - Elizabeth Carr

We’re here at the final episode of this season of the Finally Pregnant Podcast! Thank you for being here, I truly hope you are enjoying the episode and conversations. Please do head over and drop me a review if you can and also feel free to email me with any feedback, guest suggestions etc too. I’m all ears! If you follow me on insta you’ll know that we did finally make it on our hols! I share a little more about that in the episode and also mention my blog post on Toddler Travel Essentials.  For this last episode I want to especially thank my sponsors TMRW Life Sciences. Not only because they have made this series possible but also because they introduced me to today’s guest - Elizabeth Carr, America’s very first IVF baby!!  Elizabeth, who has been in the media since she was just 3 cells old, is a passionate advocate for those fighting for fertility rights and strives to educate and empower people based on her life experiences and expertise within the fertility world. As I say in our chat, I know all babies are precious but I also know just how incredibly precious the babies that we have had to wait for and in some cases fight to get here are. Babies like my little Wren. Talking to one of those ‘babies’, having an idea of how much her parents went through to get her. Well, it was very special for me and I truly hope you enjoy the moment too! If you are finally pregnant or parenting you can find out more about the support I offer at www.catstrawbridge.com/support. S6 Ep6: #70 Having an amniocentesis when finally pregnant

Join me for today's episode where I hear from Lisa Penny aka Fertilityism. Lisa is a qualified nutrition coach who specialises in women's health and fertility. Through her own experiences, she has a deep understanding and knowledge of boosting fertility naturally with the foods to nourish our bodies and why. I have to say I love Lisa’s philosophy centres on nourishment from within – I’m all about that!! Her work isn’t the reason we’re chatting though. Lisa, who is mum to 2 year old Milo, is finally pregnant following a natural loss and subsequent IVF treatment since having Milo. During this pregnancy, Lisa had an amniocentesis which is an invasive test you may be offered during pregnancy to check if your baby has a genetic or chromosomal condition. As you’ll hear this is something we explored when pregnant with Wren and when I was researching I couldn’t find too much about it so I’m really honoured that Lisa is sharing her story with us and I hope it helps you if you have or may experience this in the future, or simply because it’s good to know so you can understand and support others. A couple of things I mentioned in the episode and promised to link to. Wren's birthday presents ASDA shop 8ft trampoline (affiliate link) NIPT Testing Episode explaining more about NIPT testing with Dr. Donna Fullerton, Consultant Clinical Scientist in charge of NIPT at Nottingham Universities Trust. Welcome to the latest epsiode of the Finally Pregnant Podcast where we hear from Mardochee who shares openly on her insta page @mermaidmaman that she is normalizing black women and infertility. Now finally pregnant, I’m honoured she has brought that conversation to the podcast.  Recognising that it is Pride month – Mardochee is a gay woman married to her wife Yvette - I also want to link to one specific post which I mention in the episode.  If any of the issues raised in our chat affect you please know that you are not alone. Please know that there are millions of people who want to change things and that if I can do anything to help progress that change I am here. As promised in the episode please find the link to the recent Five X More report. Please do put some time aside to read through it and give them a follow too! S6 Ep4: #68 Natural Pregnancy after TTC and loss with Seetal Savla

Seetal Savla @SavlaFaire and her husband have been trying to conceive for six years after a diminished ovarian reserve diagnosis. Having experienced a devastating miscarriage and four unsuccessful IVF cycles, Seetal got pregnant on their first donor egg IVF cycle, but sadly suffered a traumatic miscarriage at 9 weeks.  Since Mother's Day 2019, Seetal has been documenting her ongoing journey on her blog www.savlafaire.com and in the media to raise awareness of infertility, destigmatise the subject – particularly among South Asian communities – and support others in similar situations. Seetal and Neil are now pregnant again having conceived naturally which is absolutely wonderful news but even when you get pregnant naturally, as you’ll hear us discuss, you carry the grief, fear and anxiety of the journey with you throughout the pregnancy. In addition to what we cover in our chat Seetal also mentioned to me her fears around buying or receiving mat clothes, and baby paraphernalia and only feeling able to do it when it was absolutely necessary and I know that’s something I and many others will relate to too! As discussed in this episode, please find Seetal's series with Ferring Pharamceuticals here. You can also find the reports we discussed below. Birth Rights Five X More It was the Five X More report that came out most recently (I said the opposite within the episode). S6 Ep2: #66 Losing a twin in pregnancy with Shannon

Hello and welcome to episode two of this series! Did you listen to last week’s chat with Amber? If you did and you enjoyed it why not drop me a rating and review right now whilst you’re listening! It would mean the world to me.  Today’s guest is Shannon who shares all about the ups and downs of pregnancy after IVF. Her story particularly resonated with me because she was expecting twins but very sadly lost one of them early on in her pregnancy.  Whatever your experience of being finally pregnant, finding the place where you belong and where you can share the challenges but also the celebrations is so important. As you’ll hear Shannon is working with a doula to help support her emotional needs but if you can’t stretch to that please know I run finally pregnant support groups as part of my Hang Out community which is just £9.99 a month.  I also run finally pregnant yoga and pilates courses, at the start of which we have a check in so everyone can share how they are feeling. It really gives an opportunity for you to be and feel heard and to find people who you share common ground with. Don’t just take my word for it though,  “I’m not sure if it’s just me but after being discharged from my clinic and told ‘it’s just like a normal pregnancy from here’ I couldn’t have felt less normal. The thought of no more appointments, check ins etc made me feel anxious. The space that Cat and Sim have created weekly has grounded me each Wednesday and put me in the same virtual room as ladies who understand. It’s such an open space and hearing from ladies who are just starting their pregnancy or who are near the end has been the best experience and full of so much love. To have a space where those of us who are ‘finally pregnant’ and can be there for each other in ways that other family and friends don’t really understand has been the perfect pregnancy accompaniment for me!” Find out more about this and all the support I offer at www.catstrawbridge.com/support. S6 Ep1: #65 Pregnancy after IVF with Amber Izzo

Welcome to Series 6 of the Finally Pregnant Podcast! Today’s guest is the wonderful Amber Izzo who is Pregnant after IVF. Amber is the host of Am I Ovary Acting Podcast. She was also the brains and the brawn behind the Fight for IVF campaign.  When we spoke Amber was just over 14 weeks pregnant and she openly shares the ups and downs of what that time has been like.  A couple of things Amber mentioned that I wanted to share links to here if you are feeling the same. If, like Amber, you are a fan of affirmations, please do check out my Pregnancy Affirmation Cards created specifically for those who are finally pregnant. They also make a great gift! S5 Ep2: #53 Facing racism in life and motherhood

The Finally Pregnant podcast is a place where everyone should feel safe sharing their story, no matter race, sex, religion, background. Sadly not everyone in the world has this attitude and following on from England losing the final of the Euros last week we saw an obscene and unacceptable outpouring of racism - particularly across social media. Speaking with Nikki - who is my lovely Pilates Sessions' teacher - she shared the impact racism has had on her life before, during pregnancy and as a mother to a black child. It is heartbreaking to hear, and hard for her to share, but I am honoured that she accepted my invitation to share her story on this week's episode of the podcast. As always, I hope you get lots from listening and would love to hear your thoughts. Within the episode I mention the Five X More campaign - which you can also follow on instagram. I also share that I have previously offered what I have called a 'community' place on my Yoga and Pilates Sessions each month to someone who has had a particularly difficult journey or who can't afford to join but would like to be part of it. I'm now sharing this as I want more people to know those places are available and I also want to ensure that at least one of those places is offered to a someone from a black, Asian or minority ethic background. Please contact me if you want to find out more or sign up to my emails here. You can also sign up to received my Top 5 Strategies to Enjoy Your Pregnancy. S4 Ep13: #51 Finally Pregnant x Melio Bonus Episode - NIP Testing

Join me for this bonus episode of the Finally Pregnant podcast sponsored by Melio Health. Melio Health are specialists in health tests that give you all the info you need to get and stay healthy. They also work with the NHS Lab, Nottingham Universities Trust, to provide Non-Invasive Prenatal tests to expectant mothers. Melio are offering Finally Pregnant podcast listeners 10% with the code FINALLY10. Offer valid until end June 2021. In today's episode I'm chatting to Dr. Donna Fullerton who is a Consultant Clinical Scientist in charge of NIPT at Nottingham Universities Trust. Donna is working with Melio on their new NIPT test.  Deciding whether or not to get a NIPT test is a decision in itself and everyone has a different opinion about it. I thought it would be useful to talk to someone who can help explain everything there is to know about NIP tests. With Donna's help, we’ll breakdown what you need to know, including how it works and what it can really tell you. If you want to find out more about getting a NIP test you can visit Melio Health here.    Every time you listen, subscribe, rate and review the podcast you are helping me reach more and more people and grow the support I can offer them. It really does mean so much to me! Thank you! See you for Series 5 in the Summer! Cat x

S3 Ep5: #31 Attachment and Bonding with Perinatal Psychologist Julianne Boutaleb

In today's episode I'm talking to Perinatal Psychologist Julianne Boutaleb founder of Parenthood in Mind who you can also find on instagram. We talk all things attachment and bonding and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this conversation! I truly hope you get so much from it too! I also mention Pregnant Then Screwed so if you want to find out more about them click here. Their recent survey stated that 90% of pregnant women said that restrictions (we’re talking covid here) are having a negative impact on their mental health. If you are already struggling, even a little, due to being pregnant after infertility and loss then any additional stress is going to be really hard to take on.  That’s one of the reason I’ve created my first ever Coping with an Anxious Pregnancy Workshop which is happening on Saturday 19th December at 9.30am. I’ll be sending everyone who joins a free workbook because I want this to be an interactive hour with you having an opportunity to write down your own thoughts, create your own affirmations and ask questions too! It’s only £10 to register and I truly believe it will help give you some of the tools you need to support you through your pregnancy – no matter what the reasons for your anxiety. S2 Ep14: #23 Surrogacy Special Part 1 - The Intended Parents Episode

Thank you for being here and for all your continued feedback on the podcast. I know the last episode really spoke to a lot of you who are in the midst of or have been through PND. I am so pleased having that conversation with Sophie has helped so many of you. It would mean so much to me if those of you who drop me DMs would be kind enough to leave a review over at Apple Podcasts as it helps other people find the podcast and receive the support they need like so many of you guys are. The more people who realise they are not alone the better! Here’s the link to do it! Have you been over to my insta recently? I’ve had some amazing finally pregnant and parenting takeovers happening, most recently James from @the_honest_dad who shared the partner's perspective of pregnancy after infertility and babyloss. It was incredibly powerful. If you missed it I have saved it on my highlights and am adding others there too so you can catch up. I recently launched a brand new event - The Hang Out Yoga Sessions - which is a unique 4 week online yoga course especially created for those who are finally pregnant. It’s going to be led by qualified and highly experienced yoga teacher Sim - @yogawithsim on insta – who understands what it’s like to experience that fear of not being able to have children after being diagnosed with PCOS. Fortunately Sim went on to have a very precious pregnancy and through the 4 course will lead you all through a wonderful journey as well as give you the opportunity to have a place to check in and be supported.  One of the things that spurs me on to create events like this is some feedback I received after my Nurture Circle event last month   “Realising everyone in the space just got it and understood was an incredible relief. I hadn’t realised how much I needed to feel that validation before.” I know that’s what this yoga course is going to be like too! Remember, Hang Out members receive a discount to all my events! If you’re new here the Hang Out is my membership community for those who are FPP. It’s a safe space where you can meet, chat, support and be supported by others who understand what you’re going through. We host 3 online support groups a month, there’s a resources library and members receive discounts on my events with lots more coming soon!  Right, on to today episode which is part one of a 2 part special about surrogacy. Just before lockdown I was lucky enough to sit down with Sophie @life.before.you and Jack and Em @themindfulbirthgroup and James and across the next two episodes I’ll be sharing those conversations.  Today we start with Sophie and Jack who at the time were the intended parents of the baby which Em was carrying. I’m pleased to tell you Leo, their gorgeous little miracle, is now in their arms having been born by c section on 31st March!  Really hope you enjoy the episode. Please remember to like, subscribe and review! Much love, Cat x

S2 Ep13: #22 Post Natal Depression, Colic, Reflux and much more.

On today’s episode I’m chatting to the lovely Sophie who I met through my fertility clinic Herts & Essex. I spoke to Sophie aka @mrsscarsons a few months ago about her experiences of early motherhood following a successful round of fertility treatment.  Her gorgeous son Teddy suffered from both Colic and Reflux which led to the most difficult times for Sophie and here she shares how it all had a terrible impact on her mental health. We actually talk about way more than that, including Group Strep B and attending baby classes - my fave is Monkey Music - and I really hope you get lots from our chat.  Sophie does get upset during our conversation but I think her openness and honesty is so incredibly brave and I know she does it because she doesn’t want other people to go through it, or at the very least, for others to know that they are not alone in their experiences. If you want to reach out to Sophie please do. If you want to reach out to me please come and find me at @tryingyears and finally, if you can subscribe, rate and review the podcast wherever you listen to it that would be amazing! Make sure you don't miss out on any new events by signing up to my emails here.  Thank you so much for listening! Cat x www.catstrawbridge.com

S2 Ep6: #15 Second babies, working with a newborn and lots more with Alice Rose

I loved chatting to my amazing friend Alice for this episode where we talk about giving birth to a second child, working with a newborn and so much more!  Alice was 38 weeks when we chatted but I can tell you that she gave birth, via c section, to her gorgeous son Reggie last month. You can follow her story as a mum over at @alicerosethemama as well as her infertility support account @thisisalicerose. There is some sensitive content in this episode as Alice takes us through her fairly traumatic first birth story but, as we discuss, it can be good to hear other people’s not so good experiences as it arms us with ideas and questions about what we do and don’t want to happen which will help us self advocate throughout our own pregnancies and births – something that Alice and I both fully support. Alice worked with Birth Trauma London during this pregnancy to try to reconcile some of her feelings around her first birth and it really helped her. Something else we touch upon is our partners and how much they need support too. I recently heard that Viran Swami was asking for post natal depression screening for men which I think is a great idea.  Here’s a bit more information on this. Thanks so much for listening. Please do subscribe, rate and review this podcast wherever you listen!  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch too. Much love, Cat  cat@catstrawbridge.com

S2 Ep5: #14 Pregnancy after stillbirth, surprise miracle pregnancies and donor conception

In this week’s episode I chat to Shema aka @one_in_seven who was 17 weeks pregnant at the time. Shema has a condition called Chronic Histiocytic Intervillositis (CHI) which is a rare placenta condition where mum’s immune system mounts a response to the baby causing the placenta to fail. It is an incredibly rare condition affecting only 300 women globally. Shema and her partner moved to donor egg IVF after initial rounds with her own eggs were unsuccessful. They got pregnant following their second donor round but heartbreakingly her condition caused their son Altair to be born sleeping at 21 weeks. Armed with new information about her condition they successfully navigated their second pregnancy and are now parents to Faris who turned one recently.  Then, to their surprise, they found out that they were pregnant naturally – something they had been told had less than a 1% chance of happening. It’s a jam packed episode that I hope you enjoy and get lots from. We touch upon parenting after infertility and loss and the affects on our mental health and whilst we didn’t have the opportunity to go into it further on this episode, please do head over to my episode with the amazing Anya Hayes aka  @Motherswellnesstoolkit who talks at length about what to look out for and how to support ourselves when pregnant and beyond. Please do subscribe, rate and review this podcast wherever you listen!  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch too. Much love, Cat  cat@catstrawbridge.com

S2 Ep4: #13 Donor Conception, Surrogacy and so much more with Jenn Hepton

My gorgeous friend Jenn joined me for a chat for this week’s podcast episode. To say that Jenn has been through one of the most difficult journey’s I’ve known is sadly not an understatement. However, I am so pleased to say that, after 10 years trying, she has a gorgeous son Milo. Jenn now uses her experiences, which include miscarriage, termination for medical reasons, twin loss, stillbirth, donor conception and surrogacy, to support others in the most powerful way.   You can find out more about Jenn on her website and do give her a follow on her insta accounts @Iamjennhepton and @loeyhugs. In other news The Finally Pregnant Hang Out is NOW OPEN! I’m so excited!  In case you’ve not heard yet, it’s a community for people who are finally pregnant or parenting. A space where you can share stories, ask questions, receive (and give) support, complain about the hard bits and celebrate the good! As a member you will gain access to this exclusive group where you’ll also be able to join monthly lives and – this is the bit I’m particularly excited about because I don’t think it happens anywhere else? – join the monthly online video support group which will give you an opportunity to see each other and chat, sharing your own stories in person (online). Don’t worry, you don’t have to put your video on or even chat if you don’t want but you can still join us.  I know it’s going to be a really special group and I look forward to welcoming lots of you there soon! I really hope you enjoy listening to the Finally Pregnant Podcast. S2 Ep3: #12 How to strengthen your pelvic floor with Helen Keeble

Did you know that incontinence is the 2nd most common reason people are admitted to a nursing home? This is just one of many gems Helen Keeble shares with me in today's chat.  Whether you are pregnant or not this episode is full of information, bring a notepad and pen! Helen is also one third of the Pelvic Floor Patrol who want to open up the conversation around the pelvic floor across the UK and beyond. During the chat I mention Keegle 8 vaginal cones which you can find here and if you scroll down there is a link to a prescription form which you can print off, complete and give to your doctor - I did and got some for free. However, before I got a chance to use the above I was gifted an Elvie Pelvic Floor Trainer which helps motivate me and I've got one to give away so head over to my instagram now where you can be in a chance to win one too! The giveaway will only be open for a few days - sorry if you miss it! I really hope you enjoy listening. Please don’t forget to subscribe, rate, review and share because we need to spread the word. S2 Ep2: #11 Motherkind founder Zoe Blaskey - Pregnancy and Motherhood

Join me as I chat to Zoe Blaskey – founder of Motherkind which includes an amazing podcast where Zoe speaks to world leading experts on a range of topics from self care, mental health, to career, nutrition and parenting. Mother to daughter Jessie, Zoe and her husband Guy experienced two miscarriages before becoming pregnant again. I'm delighted to say they have recently welcomed their second daughter Rose to the world. Huge thanks to Peanut for sponsoring this episode.  The mission of the founder Michelle Kennedy when creating the app was that no one should have to navigate womanhood alone. Especially the hard parts. Peanut was initially created for mums, and I downloaded Peanut after having Wren because you can look for mums in your local area and connect or you can check out some of the message boards or ask questions yourself. However, Peanut has recently expanded their community to women who are trying to conceive so you can connect with that amazing community too. Peanut's aim is to shine a light on these struggles, providing shared experience, compassion and community. There's also some exciting news about some upcoming Finally Pregnant plans I have, more information and the launch date will be announced soon.  Come and follow me @tryingyears on instagram to be among the first to know! If you have any questions about anything we discuss please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Zoe. I really hope you enjoy listening. S2 Ep1: #10 Hannah Vaughan Jones' Pregnancy Story

First episode of Season 2 is a chat with my wonderful friend Hannah Vaughan Jones who was 35 weeks pregnant when we spoke.  Since then, her husband, BBC News anchor Lewis, and her have welcomed Matheson (known as Sonny) into the world and I could not be happier for them! Hannah and Lewis tried for a family for 6 years before deciding to move on to double donor IVF. However, before they did so they transferred their last two frozen embryos from a previous cycle.  Two embryos that were too ‘poor quality’ to test.  One of them stuck and here Hannah talks about what that pregnancy, which followed multiple rounds of fertility treatment which included a miscarriage. Among other things we talk mental health following infertility, both enjoying and complaining about being pregnant, antenatal classes, birth plans, supportive alternative treatment and painting the house from top to bottom! I also catch you up on how things are going with Wren who is now almost 7 months old! If you want to follow our finally parenting journey come and follow me on instagram. If you are still TTC or know someone who is make sure you check out the events I run with my friend Alice via Cat and Alice or you can find us on socials @itscatandalice.    If you have any questions about anything we discuss please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Hannah  I really hope you enjoy listening. S1 Ep9: #9 Cara's Pregnancy Story

This interview with Cara (@ourlittlesonesstory) was the first recording I did for this podcast, not sure why it's taken so long to air! Cara is, among other things, the founder of fertility charity Fertility Support Australia which offers support for those TTC. Since recording this interview Cara has had her gorgeous little girl Evie but it's great to listen back on how she was feeling during her pregnancy; at the time in her third trimester. Cara also took the time to add a little note at the end on how she's feeling now that Evie is here so make sure you listen to the end to hear that too. The day I recorded the intro I had been to a fertility related play called Baby-Go-Round by A Drunken Sailor theatre company which is being taken to Edinburgh Fringe Festival - check it out if you can! Special mention to The Little Green Sheep company because also on the day I recorded this I won one of their organic cot mattresses which is just amazing! If you are still TTC or know someone who is make sure you check out the events I run with my friend Alice via Cat and Alice or you can find us on socials @itscatandalice.  If you have any questions about anything we discuss please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Cara.   I really hope you enjoy listening. Please don’t forget to subscribe, rate, review and share because we need to spread the word.   Look forward to hearing from you!   Cat @tryingyears PS - in case you're wondering (because I forgot to mention it in the intro!) the noise in the background is Cara's dog Billy! :)

S1 Ep6: #6 Feeding Your Newborn with Shel Banks

In this episode we talk all things infant feeding with expert Shel Banks.  Shel specialises in unsettled babies, disturbed sleep, formula feeding and faltering growth and is also an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant based in the northwest of England. Shel is a very busy lady working with the NHS in research, training, holding private practices assisting mothers and babies with feeding issues and much more. Find out more at www.shelbanks.co.uk or you can follow her on instagram.  I came across her because of a Channel 4 Dispatches show – The Great Formula Milk Scandal. One of the things I really liked about Shel’s approach is that she is a) clearly very experienced and b) non judgmental about breast or formula feeding which I think is really important.  Shel recommends the following two leaflets when reading up about feeding  A Guide to Bottle Feeding Off to the best start leaflet  She also mentions the free National Breast Feeding Helpline which offers peer to peer advice and support.  If you have any questions about anything we discuss please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Shel. S1 Ep5: #5 BFN Emma and Gabby's Pregnancy Stories

I was so excited to be chatting to these guys on my podcast as I am a huge fan of theirs! Gabby and Emma from the podcast Big Fat Negative are simply fabulous and here is no different. Due to some complications we weren’t sure whether Gabby was going to make it but fortunately she had had good news so bravely joined us for this chat.  One of the things I loved in particular was that we were all in different trimesters so we got to talk across the different experiences of being pregnant all together.  Scanxiety rears its ugly head, but we also talk about the good stuff like baby names, feeling the kicks and just the sheer relief that our fertility treatment has actually worked! I really hope you enjoy listening. Please don’t forget to subscribe, rate, review and share because we need to spread the word. Look forward to hearing from you! S1 Ep4: #4 Pre and Post Natal Mental Health with Anya Hayes

In this episode I am talking pre and post natal mental health with Anya Hayes of Mothers’ Wellness Toolkit. Anya is an author and speaker particularly focused on women’s health and wellness. She is also a Pilates teacher specialising in pregnancy and post-natal, and is training to teach Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) – the NICE-recommended treatment for depression and anxiety. During the conversation Anya recommends Ruby Wax’s book Frazzled which is a great book on this topic!  As you will hear Anya is a fountain of knowledge and, in addition to this episode of the Finally Pregnant podcast, you can tap into loads more information via her books which include Pregnancy: The Naked Truth, Pilates for Pregnancy and the Supermum Myth – details of these and all of her work can be found on her website.  You can also find Anya on instagram @Mothers.Wellness.Toolkit. S1 Ep3: #3 Jaz Rabadia's Story

Having met her earlier this year, I love chatting to Jaz Rabadia MBE and this interview was no different! Here she talks to us about her experiences of pregnancy after infertility, which for her included over 3 years of ttc and multiple rounds of IVF. She is now the proud mum of 15 month old Diyan and is really keen to be heard when it comes to the struggles that so many of us face to get to where she is now. In among the joy, we do also discuss the loss of a subsequent natural pregnancy which understandably may be difficult for some to hear. I chose to leave it in as I had received questions about natural pregnancies after IVF - what to do, how people felt and also how it will affect any future pregnancies too. I completely understand if you don't want to hear this section, which is between 27.40 mins and 33.38 mins. However I highly recommend you stay around for the rest which is insightful and hopefully fun too! If you want to go and say hello to Jaz you can find her on instagram and twitter and you can also check out her creative 'side hustle' at Cards By Jaz which include Hindu, Islamic and Sikh milestone cards. Another thing you might be interested after hearing this episode is a TENS machine - speaking of which, I need to go and order mine right now!  Thanks so much for listening! S1 Ep2: #2 Mel Brown Nutrition

Mel is a nutritionist and has been practicing since 2002 focusing on fertility, IVF and pregnancy. She’s written for The Sunday Telegraph Stella Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar Online, Elle, BBC and written for Infertility: Basic Science and Clinical Practice.
